They need to change the draft rules, those with pro experience abroadshould be signed directly by teams, similar to the direct hire policy back in the early 2000s, while those who only played domestically and is under 25 should undergo the draft

“Based on our numbers taken from Nielsen, the PBA still continues to dominate ratings among sports programs. Filipinos watch PBA more than any other sport,” said VP Channels and Content at Cignal TV, Inc. Sienna Olaso during her presentation at the Swissotel Nankai.

Board chairman Ricky Vargas was naturally ecstatic with the numbers, but stressed the challenge is now translating the broadcast data into a live audience.

“While this is good news for us, we’d like to convert it and bring it to the venues,” said Vargas.

MediaQuest CEO and President Jane Basas agreed with the observation of the PBA Chairman.

“It’s still the most loved (league). We just really need to address the issue of attendance,” she said.

On average, Olaso said PBA games attracted almost 1 million viewers per game, making it still the most-watched sports program in the country.

The PBA enjoys 975,200 viewers on average, followed by the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) with 313,040, UAAP with 218,400, NBA with 218,400, and Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) 145,600.

All leagues are being covered by TV5 and Cignal TV.

"When you look at all the leagues, (PBA ratings are) three times more than the PVL, five times more than the UAAP," said Olaso. “Ito pa rin ang pinapanood ng maraming Pilipino."

All things considered, Vargas reiterated the need to bring over those eyes on screens all the way to game venues.

“The idea is how to convert this million views to people who can come and watch the game. That’s the challenge and that’s the discussion that’s going on in this board,” he said.

This why Snow calling the PBA the fifth most popular league is dumb. Its not all about gate attendance.

what do you expect for someone who has a grudge with the PBA for being banned, plus the fact that most of his engagements came from PBA topics

PBA has a good rating compared to other leagues such as PVL and UAAP because most of the people who watch the league are either gambling or fans who don't have the means to watch live, while most of the PVL fans watch it because of the players, PVL fans are most likely the same fans who stan Kpop and Ppop and are willing to spend for their idols, that's why if i am the PBA management i will guess BINI in the opening

most likely not true, but i found a few posts that ROS offered Tiongson to Ginebra and they were told best offer is Maverick. no way will ROS get Ahamisi, he left the Paul Lee way. he burned that bridge already. I also doubt they will take Pasaol either unless the accompanying draft picks looks enticing to them.

sucks for them. the teams wont give them a good swap since they know Tiongson will probably not sign unless he gets overpaid. i agree though, that rules and regulations need to be reviewed. i understand Caelan has good experience already, but ROS, and most independent teams, follow what the agreed rules are when it comes to salary, all of them can pay what SMC or MVP is giving to some players. maybe only for a couple of players, but they can. but if the rules says its only up to this amount, they will most likely just give that. whats the use of having rules if they dont follow it?

Ex commissioner Noli Eala said "...And we know that, I think they cannot deny this, Northport is partly owned by the Petron group, by the San Miguel Group. Terrafirma, is partly owned, I think their Asian cars by the San Miguel group."

Essentially saying Northport and Terrafirma are not independent teams, and are part of the SMC group.

Snow now denying he said Jio was fixing games and getting angry at Rico Maierhofer for siding with Jio. He is just the same as the PBA, treats the people like idiots. It was obvious with the stunt he pulled that he was accusing Jio even if he didn't say it directly.

He never said Jio was game fixing but he played a game with his chat wherein he heavily implied that Jio was gamefixing. Basically you have to be a Snow sycophant to not see what he was doing there.
