The Filipinas are in Group A alongside Australia, Chinese Taipei, and Iran. Pretty good group.

We have to win against TPE and Iran, and hope for a draw at least against Australia, so that we have a better chance of advancing to the final round. Top teams from each of the three groups, as well as the best 2nd-placer all advance.

Until we get our shit together and have a proper grassroots programs for our respective NSAs, foreign-born Pinoys will still be our best bets.

It’s sad pero you can’t compare the athletics programs abroad to here.

It's true for our women's football teams. The youth teams cannot replicate the success of the senior women's team yet. Our U19 just got destroyed 6-0 by Thailand in the U19 Women's AFF Cup.

I think Tuloy FC women's players show potential in the PFF tournament, but they have to be scouted a bit, someone has to refer them to the women's teams.

Two words from this game from the Malditas: Learning experience.

Damn penalty. Man, that started it all.

If you understand the real situation it really isn't overhype exaggeration what their coach said.

I don’t know if there’s been a bigger win. Obviously, (Manny) Pacquiao individually, but for team sport, it would have to be one of the best achievements in the history of the country.”

Yeah, pound for pound, that Filipinas win is way up there. Imagine, from obscurity in the world level/mediocrity in SEA region just a few years ago up to being qualified for a FIFA WWC tournament proper, and then impressing on the 2 previous matches, that's quite something for a PHL team sports in the modern sports era.

Yeah, winning a game at the world level, that's big. This win has been one of the most intoxicating. I'm still high off that. Hope it inspires more Filipinas (no pun intended) to take up football.

And it helps that our team has an identity. Defense (whether pressing or parking the bus), and if you have the opportunity, counter.

We gotta have a steady local pro league for our women, you know, just like the UFL from the old times for our guys. I prefer for it to not have too much glamour or publicity so as not to attract too many epal people/organizations with an agenda to only live off Women football's current wave of popularity, like the leeches they are. I'd also like for them to allow for at least 5 international players per club to help elevate the level in the early stages.

We need funding for those, though. Hopefully, it can attract enough sponsors, and the team can help market the league. Ride the World Cup fever.

Yes, let's hope that the win yesterday is the start of another era backed by a very serious support system that would be always looking for consistent continental/world level successes and hold those responsible for drastic drop in performances accountable.

Now this is the worthy comparison, the way the Filipinas has run their program, long term, player recruitment , and development as compared to Gilas put together hugot old local domestic based team. . Ok let's talk about that.
a clear very very good illustration example of how to run and plan a national team correctly (Filipinas) and an perfect example of how NOT to (Gilas).. both prepared for WC 2023. Now let's see the outcome and who will get embarrassed and who will be the pride of a nation and an example of how to do things right! NOW that's the point for all to see !

1 team (Filipinas) is the youngest team in the WC , Gilas could be the oldest, 1 play mostly all in major overseas leagues the other all play in a lowly domestic league.. 1 team has a long term cosch (5 years ) with overseas league experience the other domestic league.

we will see the blue print of success ! And how to fail.

Im obviously not a fan of how our program is run but its a lot easier to grow in a sport that is less popular and has less money into it like most womens sports tbh. That and FIFA rules allow us to get pinays from all over the world to represent our country with ease.

Yes. This is not a homegrown program. If Hagop were not around SBP couldve recruited any Filipino-descent in the world. If we had a core of the level of Lassiter, Green and JC it is a big possibility we couldve won more in the WC. The challenge actually for the Filipinas is to have a homegrown program. But it is easier said than done. Soccer actually needs more resources than basketball.

But as I said. Introducing soccer to our kids will actually make them better all around athletes. Just think if Kai grew up playing soccer as well. He might have developed a more fluid running motion and more stamina. Its impossible to play soccer without running. But in basketball you can if you are big.

Yeah, the Malditas have been pretty well-run. But, it's just the senior team so far. Like Rds said, the challenge is a homegrown program. Our youth program isn't at that level yet. Plus, not many homegrowns play football, but there are some that are playing in the PFF Women's League.

Hopefully, we get the right mix of homegrown and foreign-born players. These girls are just a start. Hope they can inspire homegrown Filipino boys and girls to play football.

Dude i love this but wish they did this at least last game. Also worried about expectations now. I feel many casuals will come and worry about game not going as expected for them or seasoned fans. I just hope the girls will make it competitive like they have played all tournament.

Norway haven’t been great but they are a pretty good team still and you judge experience over hot runs at times. I don’t watch women’s football but just judging off experience.

also if the mean team ever make a WC, would they do a huge public showing? I feel like outside of Mallnof Asia would be a great public showing. Also around Rizal Park.m if possible.

Why do you play so offensive and press up front like that? I sensed a goal a mile away. I swear they let the hype get o them.

I just knew after the win and casuals wanted to get hyped this would happen. It’s as the front running casuals now wanted to watch the team and have more watch parties. This is why football won’t grow because Filipinos want instant success and gratification especially with football and ifs anti fast play. Just frustrating they couldn’t have been there for the win last game. Anyone expecting a 100% win are idiots and this is the karma for being late to support the girls.

Yeah, I think we should have parked the bus, man.
He also subbed off that Harrison girl who didn’t seeem bad . It’s also bad when this midfield is so bad. The girls are just way inferior to men’s game. I’m still enjoying it but this is bad. Even when men teams lose 3-0 they don’t give it up in 30 minutes unless it’s Brazil- Germany 2014. Just terrible performance and I blame fake Philippines media showing their usual fake love after the win last game.

I don’t mind the coach but I didn’t like how he and some of the players came off after the win. They just seemed grateful and came off as they didn’t expect to win a game this WC. This is why you can’t just rely on outside help and not homegrown help. They don’t show more determination than a local.
