a pba fan can be a gilas fan
a gilas fan can be a pba fan

why does one have to choose one over the other?

durden is obviously a pba fan, but i think he is a gilas fan as well.
uto-uto and spacebats are just a plain pba haters

as for me, i rarely watch the pba games, but i don't hate the league.

you are correct to the extent that i am a PBA hater. But are you sure that Uto-Uto PBA fan is a genuine PBA hater? He could be a PBA Lover trying to pass himself as a PBA hater to fool PBA haters into believing that he is one of them. ;)

love Philippine basketball, hate the People running the PBA.

“It’s like a corporation being asked of donations by charitable institutions. Before you can donate, you have to be financially viable,” said Barrios.

sobrang cheesy :D:D:D

Not really. Maybe its just inherent lang on my personality, on how I was brought up, my training when I was still studying, a CAT officer in Highschool then ROTC in college. Almost went to PMA but flunked the tests. Kasi its the Philippine basketball program and they're training to represent our country and its almost like call to arms. Corny ano? but that's how simple my mentality is when it comes to country.

that's both simplistic and idealistic...

who's perfectly a good citizen and perfectly patriotic here?

let him cast the first stone... ;)

remember that PBA is business and business creates jobs... that's even more important than the glory of RP basketball.

masaya ka nga dahil champion ang NT, wala namang kakainin ang mga anak mo dahil wala kang trabaho...

I understand. So the PBA is different from China Basketball Association and Korean Basketball League? I believe they are business too but they're always there, when duty calls. ;)

yes.

compare the financial standings of our pba teams with that of china's and korea's. cba teams can even afford to import nba stars...

chinese teams CAN AFFORD it, while for PBA teams, it's a BIG RISK.

just think of this: you own sta lucia and you spent millions of pesos for kelly williams, tapos wala pang 2nd quarter sa isang exhibition game sa australia nagka ACL injury. pano ngayon yung investment mo?

loss of you best player -> early elimination of your team -> less exposure for your brand/product -> less sales and revenues -> the company can go bankrupt -> loss of jobs...

even the greatest league in the world is now requiring insurance money for their international players.

Risk is relative to the cost of investment. It doesn't mean that if you can afford it, its not risky anymore, that's basic and its a known fact that their players' salaries are way higher than ours. We know for a fact that CBA is having financial troubles lately so they have their share of problems. But they're still at it, competing internationally with the same risk of being injured.

oh it's like this..Gilas can get Williams but MVP has to empty his pockets a bit :D

What a way for Norwood to end the game.

Indeed. i felt Purefoods had one last gasp to force overtime and steal this one and the consequent series sweep but that follow-up dunk was big. i thought i did not see Eddie Laure sent into the ballgame, which is for all intents and purposes, a good decision by the RoS coaches. (Haven't seen the entire ball game though so he might have played a few minutes)

On the second game, Ginebra leads TNT at the half by 13. i don't think we'd see another Ginebra collapse but hey TNT has some good offensive players so we will see...

here are the facts:

local PBA player max salary = P350,000/month
local CBA chinese player max salary = P170,000/month

Chinese NT player max salary = P560,000/month

there's your answer....
