I have not read of any news that the SBP sat down with the NCAA and UAAP officials, anyway let's just hope for the best and that Amer and the other talented players of the NCAA and UAAP was allowed to join.

He would not reply to you, such things are more appropriately announced by the Head Coach and Team Management with the SBP officials as guests.

ah ok.now i understand. how come they didn't discuss it with the NCAA and UAAP Officials? the tournament is very near and i think we need to field in the best hoops player in our country. is there also a rift between NCAA and UAAP officials against the SBP? much like the SBP and PBA? if its true then darn it..why can't we unite for a single cause..

UAAP, NCCA and PBA are handled by old greedy officials who cares more for money than the sports.

ugh! thats just frustrating..

We really need a legislation from congress or even Pnoys intervention on our sports not just in basketball. There should be a law that prioritize national team training and participation first before everything else than professional leagues and school leagues. For many years UAAP, NCAA and PBA officials and schedules has taken basketball hostage.

i wonder how they can do that. after all they are filipinos.

OT:

2010 Nike Global Challenge

All-Tournament Teams

International:
Bobby Parks (All-ASia) :)
William Howard (France)
Lucas Riva Nogueira (Brazil)
Kyle Wiltjer (Canada)
Benjamin John (France)

International MVP:
Khem Birch (Canada)

USA:
James McAdoo (East)
Nick Johnson (West)
Bradley Beal (Midwest)
Adonis Thomas (South)
Jahii Carson (Midwest)

USA MVP:
P.J. Hairston (South)

nice going ray-ray...those american boys particularly james macadoo and adonis thomas (ray's high school teammate) will probably be NBA stars in the future

i would still prefer that ray went to the US NCAA div. 1.. he would develop better there IMHO..because of better, bigger, faster competition...future NBA and euroleague players vs future PBA players

in the US he is just a normal sized guard, will play against same size or taller opponents 100& of the time... here in NU, he will probably be utilized as an SF and will be playing 90% of the time against smaller opposition... he will lose his edge playing in the UAAP while his future rivals, ahmad ibrahim and arsalan kazemi are developing into good players in the US NCAA

just my 2 cents...and sorry for the OTness:p

As long as these National Teams are not actually funded in full or partly by the Government, they could probably not require what you are asking because as what they say we live in a Democracy, we have freedom of choice.

I think you have not backread that much in this thread or the other threads as this problem regarding loaning of players to the National Team has been been discussed a lot of times already.

Its all about money

over here Players are Investments. So what is important is that there must be a Return on Investment.

Blame it on too much commercialization of basketball.

i think i already have an idea on how the system of loaning of players from NCAA,UAAP and PBA goes.

however i am still hoping that together with SBP they can get their acts together and reach a common goal and for one cause...

Parks Family Returns To Philippines

MEMPHIS, TN -- Melrose High School guard Bobby (Ray) Parks, Junior had just finished his junior year when he got the news from his father, Bobby Parks, Senior.

“Shocked. I didn't know what to say. I had no emotion about it," said Parks, Junior.

He was told the Parks family was moving back to the Philippines, the country from which they moved to Memphis not long ago. Bobby Parks, Senior had accepted a position as athletics director at a school in Manila. They left Memphis June 2.

Parks, Senior said of the career switch, "They've been trying to hire me for about two years now, but at that time it wasn't a good move for everybody. I could have took it, but I think Bobby would have suffered."

You see this move is about more than just a job. It's also about Bobby, Jr.'s basketball future. After spending time at St. George's and Melrose, the next chapter starts with the Philippine national team.

Bobby, Sr. explained, "My plans is for him to play with 18 and-under team for a while, then moving him up. You know to play for the main national team."

The Parks family just moved back from the Philippines four years ago. Bobby, Senior knew his son needed to get noticed by college coaches here in the United States.

After all, Bobby, Sr. played at the University of Memphis and for professional teams in the Philippines and France.

"He's already got scholarship offers,” the father added, “so now my thing is to keep him academically eligible for the U.S. and to make him better."

Ray and his siblings have dual citizenships. They will enroll in a Philippine school where English and Filipino are spoken

Bobby, Jr. said of the sudden switch again in residency, "Well it's going to be different again, since it's a big adjustment, since I just adjusted here to the U.S., but it's a sacrifice that I'm willing to make."

As Parks, Sr., the Philippine Basketball Association Hall of Fame player reflected on his decision, he is confident this move is the correct one."As a father I would hate to look back two years from now and say, ‘what if’."

i wonder if i get happy that bobby ray jr will play for NU or be saddened that jr will no longer play for a Div 1 school..

Oh man please I hope he plays for NCAA divsion 1, his game will just deteriorate in NU and UAAP especially the type of competition here is not as good as NCAA in states, players are not as tall and stronger. He needs a better competition to improve his skills. UAAP and NU will not be a big help. Maybe he will receive a lot of money from Henry Sy but his game will sucks

Well at least Parks Sr is open with offers from NCAA div 1 schools in the future

Does the name Danny Manning mean anything to people? Larry Brown hired the father of Danny Manning as an assistant coach of Kansas while son Danny was a senior in high school. Low and behold, Danny followed dad to Lawrence and not North Carolina. Great move for everybody because Manning led Kansas to a national championship.

One big difference in the recruitment of Ray Parks by division I schools and NU. US division I schools can not offer Ray and family the use of a condo and his own personal SUV. If Eriobu, Khobuntin and the other rookies receive a sizeable monthly allowance, I can't imagine Ray Parks receiving the same amount given his notoriety.

Well we shall see if greed or honor prevail. Henry See who now owns Nu can give him anything but his skills will diminish with the type of competition with smaller players and lack of number of teams and NU style

2009-10 Melrose High School basketball team will easily crush any UAAP or NCAA basketball team..

maybe some PBA team aswell :)
I hope Ray Parks jr. would assert himself playing PG in NU.

Probably not. How many point guards are there in NU? Joseph Terso and Ivan Ludovice currently plays the pg position. And then Norman Penola and Cedric Labingisa in their Team B.
