Gilas Players Salary - What are the real numbers?

  • Thread starter Thread starter durden_tyler2

Ok .... I'll just rest my case. I already said my piece.

i've said mine as well and will leave it at that. Nardy, check your mail (gmail) i've sent you something related to this. Thank you.

I guess everybody here understands the sensitiveness of asking information regarding one's salary or even discussing it, especially our National Team players' salaries being posted in the web where everybody and everywhere in the world can read it, and also our future FIBA opponents.

Do you agree guys?

agreed 100%

i think the problem is that most people know how much a PBA player can make (Php350K/month max excluding performance bonuses and sponsorships)... that being said, those who don't know how sensitive of an issue blurting out one's salary is, speculate too much as if it is really a big deal. the bottom line is that these Smart Gilas players are being compensated longer than previous RP Teams who just get paid when there's a meet... and it's enough for them to enjoy the opportunity of playing for the country rather than earning more if they turned professional.

What part of "did not push him" do you not understand? It's all speculations, i've cleared that up. That's why to stop the speculations i feel there's a need to know the cold hard facts and figures.

Guess what. There'd be no speculations to stop if none was threadstarted in the first place.

I see. You're using speculation to fish for cold hard facts. Sure, I guess the old "rumour mill" approach would work if you don't give a hoot about ethics.

If you were really sincere in "researching" the facts, then you would've e-mailed your SBP source before starting this thread (and not start it if you will not be made privy to the info). Now, you're e-mailing your source after you've dumped your bag of fictional salary numbers. Your speculative numbers (and subsequent "friendly fashion" discussions about it) do not help the national cause at all.

Then in the future, i'd like to diss players who have underperformed (thus overpaid) and glorify the players who have stepped-up despite a lower salary.

Nice. Assuming you did get the cold hard facts (true salary figures), by what objective barometer were you going to gauge the performance of the Smart-Gilas players?

Dissing and glorifying based on your "objective" and "non-biased" criteria? I don't think so.

Who do you think you are? The "Ebert and Roeper" of Smart-Gilas? If so, then two-thumbs down to your speculative approach to fact-finding.

@durden_tyler: seriously, would you mind sharing with us how much you earn? coz most people do mind, really...

my allowance is 2000 a month or 100 a day....im just in college guys...

The GILAS players will be receiving an amount equal to their estimated value in the PBA Draft. Period.

On paper or not:D:D:D they are just matching but with these we can tell yeah we can tell how much a super rookie earn in the pba(Japhet Aguilar:eek::eek::eek::eek:) or a much efficient, tested, the one who delivers:D:D:D:D:D kind of pba player can earn in the league(Kelly,Willie,Arwind:D:D)

edit Ankle breaker Ankle breaker op op:D

IMHO, whatever the amount the Gilas players are recieveing, it should be kept confidential.

a lot of people here, including the more respectable ones, have taken this thread out of proportion. it's quite obvious that the T.S. meant none of the harm that you guys are implying. i dont think it's wrong to discuss the Gilas' salary as long as theres no malice. the way i see it, it's you guys who are imputing malice when there is obviously none.

Guys...whatever or how much the smart gilas player receive should be keot confidential. Think this way, every company kept the compensation of each employee confidential to avoid any issue to arise. (inggitan factor and to minimize the piracy of the other company of their employee)

co-sign, lets give the ts the benefit of doubt. as nardy mentioned curiosity and inexperience on real world business ethics happened here. in time kids and new wage earners will understand what most folks are saying once they've fully grasped the situation themselves. salary will always be a sensitive information that brings more harm than good when discussed publicly regardless of circumstance.

as for gauging salary commensurate with performance im pretty sure there are people in SBP who are very qualified for the job with better perspective to boot, there are more basketball relevant issues us mere spectators can tackle instead of this.

it really has nothing to do with malice, i know durden_tyler did not intend any. it's just that in most cases, discussions about salary often leads to questions about ethics...

where i work, discussing about compensation is a terminal offence...

What about discussing the San Miguel Beer payroll. I think it is an interesting topic because there are speculations that that they are way over the cap. What are the exact figures, then?;)
