News for the 2006/2007 season

AEL-GS 1964 announced the signing of Tomas Nagys (PF/2.08m), who played for Spartak Primorie in Russia earlier this season.

I guess that he'll replace Johnson, this move would make sense then. They'd still have 1 bosman spot left for a backcourt player this way.

Aigaleo signed Israel Sheinfeld (C/2.09m) from CSKA Sofia, while Olympiada Patras signed Derrick Dial (G/1.93m), who played for Pamesa Valencia last season. Makedonikos agreed terms with Milos Sakota (F/2.04m).

EDIT: The 2nd time today that JCN was faster than me... :p

PAOK announced the signing of J.R. Bremer (G/1.88m), who played for Unicaja Malaga and Biella the last two seasons. Bremer will only be able to play in the ULEB Cup for the moment.

Another US guard there, I know that Washington is injured, but I am wondering what they will do when eveyrbody will be healthy - Washington, Parker, Bremer, Kojadinovic, Scepanovic, etc..
I was told that Bremer is in very good shape, he should be much better than he was last year in Italy (where he was battling an injuries).

Have a question - did anybody here have a chance to watch (probably I won't call this a pleasure) Makedonikos in recent weeks?

When u mention PAOK guards don't forget Kalampokis who is playing very well this season!Bremer though won't play in the greek league after Washington returns and right now he is not eligible 4 Sunday's match vs Olympiacos.I'm not sure what happens in the ULEB Cup(if PAOK continues after the 1st knockout round). But Scepanovic and Kojadinovic r 2 play in the sf position not as guards, so their guard rotation consists of Washington(Bremer), Parker, Kalampokis and talented youngster Verginis who played very well vs AEK on Saturday.

Mark Dickel who few days ago leave Anwil Wloclawek in next hours will be in Athens, where will sign contract with Maroussi.

Anwil Wloclawek found a player to replace Mark Dickel who left the team. It will be Chris Thomas (186-G-82, college: Notre Dame) who left Maroussi Athens some days ago.

Can you tell me something about this guy :) ? Is he good? I read that he has problems with injurys :(

So basically the two teams exchanged players? Interesting...

Yes this is very interesting  Dickel said that he has problems with back, so Anwil must solve contract. Next day I have info that Dickel sign contract with Maroussi ... Can you tell me also why Thomas leave Athens

I am not sure, but I think it is related to the fact that the club was not satisfied by his overall contribution and his somehow inconsistent, fluctuating, performances. In addition to that, he didn't seem to fit well in the squad's systems. Hopefully, he will fare better in Wloclawek.

Chris Thomas also has an injury problem, which is similar(but probably lighter) 2 what Tomasevic had last year.At least that's what Maroussi people claimed, together with his mediocre performances, was one reason 4 him being replaced.

Guys what mean this news  I see that something is about Mark Dickel - yes

BG Karlsruhe hired Alton Mason (185-G-77, college: Arizona St.) for the remainder of the season. Mason has been playing professional basketball since 2001 when he started his career in Belgium. Then he played in some other European leagues, including Finland and Greece. The 29-year-old guard began the 2006-2007 season with Tofas Bursa (Turkey - TBL) but moved to Barons/LMT Riga (Latvia - LBL) in October. He averaged 17.2 ppg, 3 rpg, 2.8 apg and 2.2 spg

Has anyone seen him playing before and can tell me, what kind of player he is? In Greece he played PG right?

I remember Alton Mason vaguely but the impression he left me is that he is a good shooter, he is more of a scorer than a play maker and he is rather unstable in his performances. He played last year for Olympia Larissa in Greece

After PAOK sold Sekoulits to Real Madrid for 200,000 euros :( his position is going to be replaced by Jouro Ostoits(?)...another Serbian who was with Besiktas previously.

A bit OT: I have noticed (from photos) that Olympia have droped "XALYBES KAPALH" (sp?) from their jersey sponsor (an ugly patch of fabric covers the ad that used to feature there). I thought they had signed a 3-year deal with them. What went wrong?

PS: Mega-Becirovism in the previous post. I think I had a (strong) dose to last me for a whole week. :D

AEK coach Vaggelis Alexandris was sacked. Off the merry-go-round jumps Soulis Markopoulos it seems.

AEK are now in trouble and vey close the relegation zone. Only 1 win is the differance between 2nd last place. Congratualtions to Granitsas and Philippou
