NCAA Season 99

So it's close even without Ojoula. With Ojoula, that team B looked formidable blowing out that Statham Academy team. Shows how having an FSA changes team dynamic.

Yes, as i've said, thats because team b talaga are the beneficiaries of rajko's coaching. Mas slick and precise executions nila if you compare to team A. Everyone know what to do and where to go. Team A kasi for the most part, they got charles tiu, gabby severino and carlo tan calling the shots, even in practice. Kumbaga coach rajko's influence in team A right now is not that evident yet, it will be for next year pa when these team B guys get called up to team A will we see changes. For now, Rajko has free reign with Team B.

For Ojoula, I agree with you iba talaga pag may FSA. Tall wings in Sanchez and eusebio looked more comfortable playing in the perimeter and with ojoula there, they werent force to plsy at the post. Kudos to Ojoula too, for a guest player he played his role well even with the limited time spent with the coaches and team. Sayang he was only One and Done for FEU back then.

Yeah, which is why I think the FSA ban isn't really good.

Sometimes, it can have the effect of hampering player development. Guys like Eusebio, Sanchez, Puno, Sangco, Montano, and even Bravo and Gozum could benefit from playing next to an FSA, so they won't have to play the bigman role much. Credit na lang to Beda for playing Puno at wing, and Benilde for playing Sangco as a point forward SF, and for playing Eusebio and Sanchez on the perimeter as well, and for having Gozum still play like a tweener forward rather than a big.

And again, not many teams have enough bigs. A foreigner is usually your best bet for a starting center, unless you play a natural PF or a tweener at the 5 and the play style is still a 4 (ala Draymond Green, or Will Gozum), or you have a guy tall enough like Jopia at the 5.

Yukien is making up for the missed 3-point shot against Mapua. Ever since that miss, Yukien has been on fire from beyond the arc. Also its nice to see the boys attacking the basket instead of chucking 3's every possession.

I don't know I think the FSA ban is still good for the NCAA. As the "alternative " league, it offers something different for the fans & players.

Andrada was the Player of the Week awarded by the Collegiate Press Corps averaging 20 points and shooting 53% from 3-pt area in two games.

Today he scored 26 points (6/11 3-FGs) in 31 minutes with a game-high +24 in the +/- category.

Final 4 Scenarios (correct me if im wrong, but i heard there will be quotient and playoff if ever multiple teams end up tied):

CSB and SBU both Win or a JRU lose= Jru Eliminated, csb 4th seed, sbu 3rd seed

One of CSB or SBU win, JRU lose = JRU eliminated, whoever wins their last game is 3rd seed, whoever loses is 4th seed

JRU win, lose for either CSB or SBU = whoever wins in the last games of csb and sbu is 3rd, whoever loses will have playoff against jru for 4th seed

JRU win, CSB and SBU both lose (all tied at 11-7) = sbu 3rd seed, jru v csb for 4th seed

Remaining games:
JRU v Mapua NOV 22
CSB v EAC NOV 22
SBU v Letran NOV 24

Records against each other

Mapua:
Vs CSB = 1-1, 75-71 W 1st rd, 61-65 L 2nd rd
Vs SBU = 2-0, 75-57 W 1st rd, 71-69 W 2nd rd
vs JRU = 0-1, 61-70 L 1st rd, (game to be played)

Lyceum:
VS CSB = 2-0, 85-81 W 1st rd, 84-81 W 2nd rd
VS SBU = 1-1, 67-62 W 1st rd, 56-74 L 2nd rd
VS JRU = 1-1, 87-88 L 1st rd, 99-96 W 2nd rd

Predictions:
SBU = 3rd seed - with a win against reeling letran, doesnt matter if reyson plays, letran's guards have beem decimated with injury. Garupil, bojorcelo and bautista are the only guards playing. Other than monje, no other vet has been reliable when reyson went down. We're not sure too if their minds are the right place especially after all the flak the coaching staff and players got all season, with that bottle throwing incident being the last straw.

CSB = 50/50 on securing 4th seed or a playoff for 4th - Last game against EAC can go anywhere, it will depend on 2 things: first is if gozum will play in this game, he's still questionable after suffering a quad contusion after being hit inadvertibly by Ira Bataller's knee in their last game. Even if he's good to go, coaching staff will be gambling on Gozum's health if they play him. Second is if EAC will go guns blazing in their last game or not. Even if they're eliminated, they will be as dangerous as ever with Maguiliano, Cosejo and Robin's final game

JRU = 50/50 on securing atleast a playoff - will depend on one factor. Who Mapua want's to face in the final 4, unless sbu losses againts letran, sbu is a lock for 3rd. So this game will determine who's 4th seed and will face them in the final 4. Benilde is 1-1 against them, tho in both games, majority of the time csb was in control, while hernandez and bonifacio played horribly. Against jru naman they lost in the 1st rd. So the question will be is will they give the game up knowing they'll be 0-2 against them in the elims. If that happens pretty sure JRU has the momentum in the series, especially one that needs 2 wins for the 4th seed to advance. Still, that playoff for the 4th seed might work for mapua's advantage with the 4th seed needing to olay another game before facing them. But let's not forget that JRU wants at all cost to win this so expect the usual "physicality" in this game.

IMO, theres a very slim chance for CSB and SBU to lose their last games, they will do their best to avoid a possible playoff with JRU and complications entering F4.

Yup thats why even small schools like arellano, eac and jru were able to keep up before was because of FSAs. Even Perps, Mapua and Lyceum were consistent contenders too because they had solid fsa help. As far as i know only letran and baste(don't recall them ever having an fsa ever) refuse to use one.

Personally, I think beda is a lock for 3rd seed already. Only way they'll drop is if they lose against letran. When it comes to quotient kasi, they beat csb and jru both 2 times so they have the advantage in case of ties.

Maybe pero according to his gf there was an offer already from a korean team. Don't get the logic of turning it down just to be the main man in letran not to mention dont think he can raise his stock further with his style of play, an undersized shooting guard. Pero gotta admit, he's my bet for potential season MVP. Looks like teams just did a good job of containing him this season, what happened pa tuloy was his stocked totally dropped.

Is mpbl the next move for reyson?

Is mpbl the next move for reyson?

Most probably yeah, he was already with pampanga before the season started so if he's really good to go, might see him play in their finals. Don't think the overseas option is there for him anymore because if its still there, he should've focused on rehabbing til he's 100%. Can see him naman in the pba, bonnie tan's still there pa naman, he's surely better than his teammate tommy olivario who got drafted and signed for his team.

Looks like Jalbuena is out of the lions den.

Jalbuena is kinda soft playing defense. Needs to toughen up. And with the arrival of Edmund Mundas and Ronrei Tolentino, he will have a hard time cracking Team A.

Maghirang, Casingcasing and Jalbuena came from UST.

I like the new point guard from Ateneo Davao, Kyle Jamora. Speedy point guard, can breakdown a defender and has a good jumper. I think AJ Royo also came from that school as well.

Maghirang and jalbuena has allergies with books same with casingcasing thats way they're not in the lineup specifically jalbuena

Really interesting for me to know. Are there notable previous alumnus of the red lions who were allergic to books as well? Parang wala nababalita na they had to sit out due to acads as far as i remember.

just recently last year rhayan amsali and fil-canadian brandon ocampo.

ralph penuela was supposed to be in the roster in 2019 the year they got upset by letran. he was academically ineligible in 2019. but he made it up and became a part of the roster two succeeding seasons after.
