Yeah, for chemistry and system fit purposes. All collegiate teams does this naman. Unfortunately that's just one of the risks of it along with getting scouted early by their opponents.
That's the reason why SBU discourages its players from playing in semi pro leagues, one is for them to catch up with their academic requirements and 2nd to prevent injuries due to factors other than wear and tear.
Injuries like ACL cannot be avoided because eventually they will tear,as this type of injury is brought about by wear and tear. To add most of these players have probably played almost a thousand games in their young career and most likely majority of them didnt have the luxury of having a trainer and physical therapist in their teams.
I remember a player of JRU in the late 90's, he twisted his ankle. The asst coach just told the player to step on a bottle and roll it with his injured foot.
