AS Bond Shiraz replace Zoran Majkic (207 -C ) by Milan Vucicevic ( 206 -f)!

thanks for finding the name of this man ! (ina farghe "B" ba "V" ro nemidoonan ke esmesho chize dige gofte budan ??!!)

----------------------

Shocking news !

Trust Pasargad Shiraz withdrew from the league because their sponsor (Trust co) won't support them anymore ! this team was a shame from beginning to the end
http://www.mehrnews.com/fa/newsdetail.aspx?NewsID=1020731

I hope the federation force them to continue !

SL / Round 16 / Jan 21

Saba Mehr - AS Bond
Azad Univ - Pasargad / postponed till the further announcement (14 Feb)
Zob Ahan - Gorgan
Towzin - Shahrekord
Petrochimi - Mahram / postponed (14 Feb)

IRIB3 will broadcast one match live at 15:00.

--------------------------------

it is official now, Tehran will host the 2010 WABA Champions Cup starting from 8 march.

IRIBF got the host right for Zob Ahan (and Esfahan) but Zob Ahan withdrew and they forced to host the tournament in Tehran. it seems the federation want to penalize Zob Ahan and kick them out of the competition ! in this case only one team per country can compete !!!

Round 16

Saba Mehr 92 - AS Bond 87
Milan Vucicevic played his first match in the SuperLeague and he looks good.

Zob Ahan 96 - Gorgan 95 (OT)
Quarters: (17-22, 13-26, 26-17, 29-20, 11-10)
Gorgan missed another golden opportunity !

Towzin 90 - Shahrekord 76
that was a good match for the 8th and 9th team of Iran. Shahrekored is a respectful team its a young team but they officially relegated to the 1st division ! I hope IRIBF bring them back to the SuperLeague, they deserve to be here. I am surprised by the number of fans in Kashan, It seems Basketball is popular in every city of Iran except the capital Tehran !

Is that a league record?

I am not sure but, i think this a best record in this year season.
In 2007-2008 season Eddie Elisma scored 58 points in a match!
date:: 01-31-2008
Gorgan 77 -Ararat 61
Eddie Elisma ( 204cm - pf ) scored 58 points for Gorgan! Eddie was superman in that match.

Is that a league record?

yes, I believe this is a record for 2009-10 season.

---

Saba advanced to the semifinal after today's matches.

Semifinalists : (the same as last year)
1-Mahram
2-Zob Ahan
3-Petrochimi
4-Saba Mehr

in this season we have got 3 imports in position 4 (PF) in Iran league!
1- Marcus Melvin
2- Ontario Lett
3- Jackson Vroman
what is your idea about them?
which one is better than others?
Mohsen jan, Please answer my question!
---------------
I think Jackson is a high level player but in this season he playes really bad.

yes, Vroman is a good player (or was a good player) I saw most of their matches and I am agree with you. he had only 1 good match in this season (Mahram-Gorgan !!!)

I didn't see Ontario Lett and Marcus Melvin enough, you know our Zarghami TV rarely broadcast non-Tehran games !!! but based on what I read and heard, both are good. Marcus Melvin is a small forward but he is playing as a power forward for Petrochimi and it is not easy for him. he is a great shooter. Lett is a different player than Melvin , I can't compare them. he is a true power forward and his stats are good but your results didn't improve with him !

bad news for Zob Ahan :

Mohammad Reza Akbari missed the remaining matches of the season due to an injury :(:(

Pasargad officially withdrew :( what a shame !

new table after excluding Pasargad:

1 - Mahram 13-0 / 26pts
2 - Zob Ahan 12-2 / 26
3 - Saba Mehr 9-6 / 24
4 - Petrochimi 8-5 / 21
5 - AS Bond 5-10 / 20
6 - Gorgan 5-9 / 19
7 - Azad Univ 5-9 / 19
8 - Towzin 4-10 / 18
9 - Shahrekord 2-12 / 16

---------------------------------

Round 17 / January 28

Mahram - Saba
Zob Ahan - Petrochimi
Shahrekord - Azad
Towzin - Gorgan

I think all matches will be very competitive, IRIB3 will broadcast one match live at 15:30. I guess it will be Mahram-Saba. I am sick of Mahram being on TV, I can watch them in stadium (if i want), another match please (Zob/Petro) :)

Edit: yes ! :( Mahram-Saba / 15:15 / live on IRIB3

I think Jackson is a high level player but in this season he playes really bad.

Marcus Melvin plays more as a Small Forward since he came to Asia he was considered as a Power Forward but his game is consisting more of 3 pts shooting and penetrations instead of posting either the high or low post.
As for Vroman he had an impressive season last year with Mahram and a good one with Lebanon NT but than he ain't showing a good one this year at all, even in Dubai he only showed one or two good games knowing that he is playing the position he loves (power forward and not Center that affected his game with Lebanon).
As for Lett well he is an impressive player but too bad we didn't get a chance to see him playing since a while because of the TV broadcast :(

I think Ontario Lett stats could be intersting for you.
19.3 points / 6.1 reb / 3.4 blk / 3.2 stl
