It's pretty evident what we lacked from the OQT: reliable wingmen and a deep front court.

Without Blatche, we would have been out rebounded and outscored on the paint. It's no question that we need local players for these roles who have size and skill. The best candidates so far:

The criteria: No One Below 6'6

Wingmen
- Kobe Paras
- Troy Rosario

Front Court
- AVO
- Almazan
- Sangalang

Anyone else? Parks does not count because he's already established as a SG.

Front court: Bradwynn Guinto and JP Erram. Not with SMC either.

Find him a shooting coach. If he goes all Japeth Aguilar (focusing on highlight reels), then he will go nowhere.

Not only shooting but also passing and slashing. Honestly, the guy is tall and quick enough to be a Euro point guard.

Wing is sg and/or sf. I would love to see paras and ramos playing together. We still have wright though he doesnt meet your height requirement. Carino has potential if he bulks up without slowing down. Baltazar as well. They would be the bridge before these kids come in: pangalangan, kirkness, edu, sotto, and salazar. Tamayo, if coached right should be a prospect as well. Hepa looks like a lost cause but in case he is eligible he should be a big boost.

That's why I didn't include Parks even if he plays SG. He's considered undersized in international competitions at 6'4.

Filipinos love the Black Mamba so let me use him as an example of a SG/SF.

If you are 6'6 and have the skill--shooting, dribbling, passing, and slashing--then you qualify. TBH, we have so many players who meet the height requirements but they simply lack the fundamentals and physique.

I was really hoping Aldrech Ramos to develop those skills back in 2011. Alas, his career is wasted as an undersized and underweight center.

Wings: Kobe Paras, Leonard Santillan, Raniel Navarro
Front Court: Arnold Van Opstal, Raymond Almazan, JP Erram, Troy Rosario, Matthew Aquino, Kmark Carino, AJ Edu, Ethan Kirkness, Jay Pangalangan, Justin Baltazar, Kai Sotto

We need Kai Sotto to mature faster lol

By the time he's 17-18, he'll be in Gilas. hahahaha

But seriously, I like Kobe Paras in Gilas. Will we have a chance to see him in Gilas this year or maybe next year?

Just a quick question for you all...

If Kobe Paras was invited to join Gilas and chosen to be in the line up of 12 players, would he be a factor at all?

Speaking of Aldrech Ramos, a player whose career will be headed the same direction if he doesn't convert to the 3 spot is RR de Leon. Might be too late though as he should already be in the PBA if we base it on his age.

The ff might be OT since these players are below 6'6 but none the less need to learn to play 3 if they are to have a long career:
Carlo Abadeza, Michael Calisaan, Christian Fajarito, Javi GdL (haven't seen a lot of his games), Javelosa

Those who need to convert to combo guard: the younger Ildefonso, Credo, Sherwin Concepcion (might be too slow as he looks more like Allan Salangsang atm), JP Cauilan (?)

Leonard Santillan
Read somewhere this guy has good hops.

For now he is still soft for the physical Men's basketball, if only he had the built of his dad Venancio and the lateral movement of Norwood then he can really be a factor if he was included in this year's Gilas Pilipinas( a good outside shooter, can create his own shot and a good penetrator and a finisher above the rim).

The simple and safe answer: NO.

While Paras has already shown promise as a tall shooting guard, he still has a long way to go before his skills are high enough for international competitions. And by international competitions, I mean world-level teams like France, Spain, Lithuania, and NZ.

Watch the 3-on-3 videos of the Philippines where he is in it. He is still error prone and lacks the physical prowess to be dominant against world teams.

I'd say let the guy focus on his US college career and, possibly, NBA career. He will join us when he is ready.

He is the 2-time defending champion of CESAFI Slam Dunk champion(2014 and 2015) and won the latter with a sprained ankle..

I hope Kai would become our own version of Zhou Qi.
