From Nardy from way back 2008:
you do not know the whole story. it was not approved due to factual documentation, it was approved due to political favors. you would not like to find out the dirty things about the whole matter. So i would not dwell on it. Even though thadz does not agree with me when I say let it be. I fully support his advocacy that we must do the right thing and put this to a stop. For me let Gabe Norwood be the final player be afforded this special accomodation./QUOTE]

Is Gabe Norwood a natural born Pinoy or he got his citizenship thru naturalization even though his mom is a half-filipino? Asi Taulava??

It is Gabe's grandfather who is half Filipino.

Could very easily be that the kid or his parents don't want to get a PH passport. Sometimes, it is just out of SBP's hands.

One of the harder things about relying on solely (keyword solely) Fil-Fors like some suggest. Mahirap din itong proseso na ganito. Besides, Hagop Rule makes that basically impossible.

and if things dont go well in NBA or any top tier league then they'll start acknowledging their Filipino roots and apply for the PBA draft.;)

Almost 8 years since the inception of this thread and so many names have been mentioned but only a few of them can we genuinely say have been prominent in our NT campaign.

Whatever happened to the development of a hundred or so names mentioned in this thread??

A very good question indeed, im tempted to forward every single name that gets scouted here directly to Butch Antonio, Noli Eala, Sonny Angara, SBP official, Chot Reyes and associates online accounts to get coordinations properly. Itll be improper though?

no more baby fats for kirkness:)

and if he plays in the PBA, he will generate more and more fans because of his looks .:)

Kai looks around 6'11" already, in his previous photo with junmar who is legit 6'10 1/2, kai is noticeable little bit taller than junmar

If Edu is 6'8 then Sotto is 6'9. Sotto can look taller than his real ht because of his frame and length. Same with Edu.

It is not like taller, kai is look really taller than Edu in this photo, it is more than an inch different

Off topic; aside of recruiting foreign talent, sbp should start a training pool ala big man's camp, para mas sure ang developments ng iba pang big youngster like umpad, lepalam, rangel, etc

Well. they are not really side by side or standing to each other (AJ is a bit far back).

Regardless, it is very likely that when they join the 2018 junior team, Kai would be taller than how he is now.

To sum up the big 3, AJ is the most athletic and talented, Ethan is the bulkiest, and Kai is potentially the tallest. We've seen what AJ is capableof and the ceiling is high for this kid. It remains to be seen what the latter two can bring to the table aside from their size. Positive thing to note is that the trio have their personal coaches, so individual development shouldn't be a concern.

Kai would be Japeth 2.0 with smarts and Ethan would be poor man's Bogut.

I'm re-posting this...

Like what coach Baldwin said, we should temper our expectations.

Having the height is not a guarantee. I know someone who was 6'8" at 16 (black) and son of an 8-year nba veteran. He can dunk, post-up, shoot with range and dominated in high school. He was young for his class so peaked as a 2-star recruit but ended up with one div 1 offer (which incidentally was his dad's alma mater). He's in his 2nd year of college now with negligible playing stats and nowhere near NBA's radar.

He coaches kids part-time (so you know he has the interest and the responsible mind-set), he has the size, the pedigree and the skills. But there is still SO many players better than him in D-1.

AJ (along with Kirkness, Sotto, etc...) have a LOT of work to do and a LONG way to go if they really want to be one of the best in the world. What happened with Kobe Paras in UCLA may end up being a good thing for him. Nothing should be given to them. Make them earn it. They have to stay hungry!

The things we need to be excited about isn't the prospects that we have, but what we do with the prospects, I think in every Edu, Kirkness and Sotto, theres a Carino who over achieved in u18..And long agothe time we have Papot Paredes, Norbert Torres, Rino berame, Al hussaini and Kyle Pascual as future big, someone with the name of Troy Rosario comes out of the blue..
