Euroleague 2013-2014

  • Thread starter Thread starter Billy Bounce2
  • Start date Start date
MPS SIENA
Daniel Hackett - Taylor Rochestie (USA/Montenegro) - David Cournooh
Kim English (USA) - Erick Green (USA)
Josh Carter (USA) - Marco Carraretto?
Viktor Sanikizde (Georgia)? - Tomas Ress - Mattia Udom
Othello Hunter (USA/Liberia) - Benjamin Ortner (Austria)

EA7 MILANO
Curtis Jerrells (USA) - MarQuez Haynes (USA/Georgia)
Keith Langford (USA) - Alessandro Gentile
David Moss (USA) - Bruno Cerella (Argentina/Italy) - Malik Hairston (USA)?
CJ Wallace (USA/Congo) - Nicolò Melli
Samardo Samuels (Jamaica) - Angelo Gigli - David Chiotti (USA/Italy)?

Well some things may still change.
Siena may lose veteran captain Marco Carraretto, who's rumored to have declined a major salary cut, if he leaves then he should be replaced by Jeff Viggiano.
Kangur just left for the same reason, he may be headed to Milano or will sign elsewhere abroad.
Siena has to deal with Sanikidze's big contract (400 k/euro), he comes off a poor season and doesn't seem to fit into the team, but he may stay since he has no concrete offers but only if he accepts to play for a much lower salary, otherwise the team will try to agree with him to break the contract.
In that case, one more foreign PF will be signed (Diawara? Dragicevic?)
All in all, it's not really a poor team given such a dramatic budget cut, they only have 4M Euros for the team.
I expect Milano to make one more addition to its frontcourt (Kangur or an athletic PF/C).

Baskonia (Laboral Kutxa):

PG: walter hodge, thomas heurtel, van oostrum

SG: fabien causeur, david jelinek

SF: fernando san emeterio, adam hanga

PF: andres nocioni, ?

C: lamont hamilton, tibor pleiss, ilimane diop

Coach: Sergio Scariolo.

I like some signings like walter hodge, too much better player than omar cook. another signing lamont hamilton is not as talented as maciej lampe, but I think he could improve the poor performance of the polish center. adam hanga is an NBA prospect, very special player, watch this video:

I believe in young players like causeur, pleiss, heurtel or jelinek.... but we have a problem in PF position. the idea is andres nocioni as PF (nocioni is a SF), and the other PF must be an "spanish cupo", so the most probable signing is leo mainoldi. toko shengelia would be the best "spanish cupo" for baskonia, but he has another season in brooklyn.

Nocioni PF? And tbere is no other option? This rotation can do nothing in Group D.

I think Lamont Hamilton will play in PF and Pleiss will be the first C of the team..Pleiss deserves to play more in that team IMO.

yes, nocioni will be the starter PF (instead of nemanja), in the NBA nocioni played as PF some seasons.

I think the same, hamilton as PF some minutes with tibor pleiss, I hope that pleiss will play better and more minutes.

with the last confirmed signing (leo mainoldi) the roster is complete:

@jonga
What about Labovic and Videnov, are they still on try out?

there are 4 players on try out: labovic, videnov, corsariol and sergio sanchez.

in spanish league could only play sergio, because the "ACB rules (cupos)".

Hanga is absolutely amazing player. I saw his game against canarias, and dude went crazy in that one. I dont know about his other games but it was spectacular. Future star in my opinion.

Zvezda completed roster, didn`t find enough quality PF, so starts season with some young players..

Wtf? The 2 matches ban of Pao has been lifted. They will be played in South Cyprus and Crete!! F*ing lobby

I agree with that. His physical attributes are amazing. No wonder San Antonio (out of all the NBA clubs, it's them again) picked him at the draft few years ago...

The logic is that pao understand how serious was that allowed so many people inside oaka at top8 and took some meters on it for the future.
Uleb see also the chance to promote euroleague and gave the opportunity for the fans of pao in cyprus to watch also the games.furthemore is a sign from uleb that the fight against pao is being decreased from her behalf.
If you dont leave outside europe you know very well that uleb and pao have many many times problems with their relationship.both of them have said so many times so much things.dont forget the biggest ever banned of a team uleb gave (twice btw) in pao.
Same thing (much less though) with pao and cska relationships.2 months ago both pf them released official statements about their mutual respect of each other and the reason that pao take part at cska tournament is this.
So both pao and uleb and pao - cska start from zero point a new try to fix their past problematic relationship which had some years now.
Uleb and pao is nothing but being a lobby together.

This is not a punishment. This is a gift.

There won't be too much fans at home matches but now there will be much more fans than OAKA.

The punished side will be the opponents of Pao which will have to take more distance.

Come on CG you know this is a bullshit decision. You won't admit it though, but you know it.

I guess you live in a parallel universe where Athens is closer to Russia than Cyprus?

In which parallel universe do Crete and Cyprus have bigger arenas than the OAKA? PAO averages 50% more tickets at the OAKA than the biggest arenas available in Cyprus and Crete?

We already know your fans attitude in regular seasons. It is exact that more fans will be in gym than Oaka in first 2 home matches.

It could be more interesting the whole "discussion" between us,if I write you that President of basketball PAO previous season, was speaking against Bertomeu.
So,this is a "corruption"? Do Spanish fans teach us about corruption and ULEB?
Ok,it's a joke.
On the other hand the games when were being played on Friday, the OAKA had more fans. Hey,Turkish fan could you write me the last year's numbers of capacity
in regular season? How much fans were in your arena?

Last but not least, the whole format ot ULEB Euroleague sucks. The easy is to blame the "corrupted connection" betwwen PAO & ULEB,the hard is to find some measures about Independent Judge...about some serious and democratic (difficult word,ha?) decisions about the participation of teams and NOT contracts and in general a reformation of the Euroleague according to UEFA's standards.
Is it so difficult?
Obviously it is...

Fenerbahce with Obradovic not much better then with Pianigiani. Gasper Vidmar, Emir Preldzic and probably Omer Onan will be again major role players. IMO this season will be below expectations if this continue.. On the other side young players like Sipahi and Birsen are playing under great caoch and that is good for future.

Winner of group D

PAO 2.0
Makabi 3.3
Kaha 5
Lokomotiva 9
Lietuvos 32
Zvezda 84
