2013 Philippine U16 NT

how long are his arms? i think it reached the top of the white square(at the peak of his jump)..
his lift is almost japeth-like..for a 16 year-old kid..wow with that athleticism and if he can develop and polish his skills well, he will have a very bright future.

Depends where he lands in his college. I hope he consider playing in USA, but DLSU basketball is a good system since they always play big, they always use two big players at once. I hope they will train him to be a SF or SG, or a stretch four.

FIBA U18 3X3: Argentina won the mens Gold by winning all its 11 games after in beat France in the Finals 13-7. With the tournament over they ranked Philippines #18, for Asia-Pacific ranked ahead of us are only China #6 and NZ #17.

In my opinion we could have done better. I truly feel that default loss to China emotionally drained the boys that resulted in us losing our last 3 games in the 2nd round .... its really heart breaking since we were leading China13-12 with 9 seconds to go when the ref called a foul on Arvin that made him foul out thus joining Thirdy, Kobe and Prince who all fouled out earlier, with no players to finish the game, a 20-0 win was awarded to China. The boys lost focus after that game with China which FIBA said was the most fierce in the whole tournament then that 1 point loss to Bulgaria several hours later broke the camel's back.

However its gratifying Kobe stole the show in Jakarta after winning the Gold Medal of the Honda Dunking Contest of the tournament.

Lets pray that Japan beats Taiwan & we'll win versus India today(I'm confident we'll beat India). I hope what happened to Gilas-2 in the 2013 FIBA-asia Championship will repeat with our U-16 team. Go go Japan, beat Taiwan please!

Groups E and F for this tournament looks eerily similar to the recent FIBA Asia Championship in Manila.

China, Korea, Iran + 1 weaker team in one group.

PH, Taipei, Jordan, Japan in the other bracket.

Plus, if Japan beats TPE and we beat India, we have a triple tie at 1st place which will go to the quotient again. (Just like FIBA Asia)

We are -5 (TPE) and +18 (JPN) = +13
TPE is +5, so they'll never be first if they lose.
JPN is -18, so they need to beat TPE by at least 31 pts to snatch first place.

So it's beat TPE but not more than 31 pts :D

Hope we get the same result, or even better :D

Whoaaa , Japan beats CT by 20, we only need to beat India then we're #1.

I know this is thinking too far ahead but if we get #1, we will most probably face Syria in the QF (Granted Iran beats Bahrain later).

If we win against Syria and KOR takes care of TPE in the QF, we'll face them in the semis.

August 10, 2013 all over again :D

Is it top 3? because in the last edition of 2012 U17 , only China & Korea qualified and only 12 teams participated. Did they increase the number of participating teams?

16 teams suppose to play this year but 2 countries back out. Thats why group c and group d have only 3 teams each.

Hard to find info on the net regarding the U17 qualifications.

From http://www.usab.com/mens/u17/just_the_facts.html

2014 QUALIFIED TEAMS (16): In addition to host UAE; qualified for the 2014 U17 FIBA World Championship from the FIBA Americas Zone are Argentina (silver medalist) Canada (bronze medalist), Puerto Rico (fourth place) and the USA (gold medalist); while 11 additional nations will qualify through their respective FIBA zones listed below.

FIBA Africas U16 Championship: June 27 - July 6 || Madagascar
FIBA Asia U16 Championship: Sept. 25 - Oct 4 || Iran
FIBA Europe U16 Championship: Aug. 8-18 || Ukraine
FIBA Oceania U16 Championship: Sept. 1 || Australia

Doesn't mention though how many from each zone. It might be 2 from Oceania and 3 from the others.

I think he's referring to the U17 worlds.

Anyway, from the link I posted above, it looks like 16 teams will be playing. So most probably it's top 3 from Asia.

Top 3 indeed as the official fibaasia site also states:
