2012 U16 European Championship

italy is far psyhical inferior to croatia to stand any chance

anyway, croatia will win another gold, we have very talented team again

Yeah, in fact we won just by 14 points...

Oliva with the monster game (27+13)... we also didn't need Rossato and Mussini to score much...

I just checked statistics of Italy-Croatia, I saw that Croatia couldn't crash Italy on rebounds although Italy's height disadvantage. It looks that Arapovic shot every ball which he receive.Italy looks better than I expect. At least we didn't play matches to stay at division A after England victory :)

Croatia only played with Arapovic from bigs, who mostley plays outside insted trying to use size of Vrankovic at C who is gret rebouder, whille playing Marko at PF.

Loncar 210, Gaspert 207 (97,) and many other bigs we have in this generations stayed home

friend tells me (his cousin is part of team) tomic got elbow i 3rd minute and had got stiches on toung, whille mazalin played despite he berly could wallk

Croatia suffered a major setback early on when starting forward and second-time campaigner Leon Tomic was taken to hospital after less than four minutes with a bleeding tongue.

big respect for leon, geting back after such injury:)

They can be tall but it's not very important.Talent is more important.I know 4(at least) Turkish U18 -2.10+ players who never played for Turkish national youth teams :)

loncar is raw, but physcly gifted. gaspert is starter in cedevita, best under 16 team in croatia. very strong kid with god skills. vrankovic is also strong and great rebounder. bouth vrankovic and gaspert played well against arapovic and if they can play good agaist him, they can do it aginst anyone in this tournament

similar gose with wings and guards despite injury of 4 starters we have some other good players like skokna 97. he lead his team to 3rd place in croatia with only vrankovic help, rest of fenix team is limited, but is not here. whille dosen for sample, untalented guard is here whille split didn't get in top-8. same old story in croatia

and by looking at stats arapovic took 26 shoots...once again our federation is promoting one player, just like wit sesar, ukic, bogdanovic, kruslin, saric, hezonja...etc, insted of teaching kids to play as team from first day and i know arapovic is not selfish at all, i watched lot of his games, but he will end like one with this strategy

Wouldn't have been even close, if not for the fact we were missing open lay-ups and turning the ball over left and right. Props up to Slovenia. Showed a lot of heart.

I really liked Sabonis jr. Good hands, industrious around the basket and has an excellent court vision (and passing skills for that matter).

Well, tall players alone aren't enough, yet having an effective tall player is basicaly everyhing in those youth competitions, when those are pretty rare and you can always find some great generations that after all positions covered up nicely, lack an effective center and can in vast majority of cases forget about some serious results.

losing only by 6 to hosts? Well done I guess. The group Slovenia is in looks tough, while Kodrin which is supposed to be one of our top players along with Zupan and Kavaš, basicaly left out most of the last season due to injuries. Counting the traditional superb technical skills yet weak athleticism of our younger selections, I guess I'm happy with any result in U16 cathegories that avoids relegation in general, losing to Lith's by mere 6 becomes great than.

Yeah,Turkish U16 team in 2008 and U18 team in 2009 are great examples for this situation. We just had Enes Kanter and got third place at both tournemant... Kanter was physically much better than any center in his age group and dominated them... If you have a center who have lenght and mature body in these ages, you can easily dominate the tournament.Today,I watched a match between Slovenia-U18 and Turkey-U18.You have great guard whose name is Matic Zegec... He did crazy stats with 34 points 5 asists.Another Slovenian guard(I forgot his name) was so good but your centers were joke offensively and defensively... so we won(75-69) sc. It's very important to have tall and strong center at these levels
I wonder one thing: Why is Lithuania always hosting these tournaments?? Always?? In the last years I remember many tournaments in Lithuania.

maybe, becouse Lithuania have invested hundred of millions to develop basketball conditions all around the country in the last few year. olso there are many people who are interest in all these conpetitions.

This tournament is co hosted by Latvia and Lithuania. Same as U18.

it's very simple for me and i don't mind it....nobady is intrested in hosting yuth events for kids in this crisis except for basketball countrie lithuania and latvia. respect

ot croatia-turkey, but vucic, mazalin and arapovic fouled out, bozic and tomic with 4 personal

and lose in ot. but proud at kids and especially for leon tomic, he is hero for me, playing after such painfull injury. bozic also fouled ot. just to much. to bad beslic and saric are not here, that would be just a nuff

I miss some plays from perimeter - seems to me they would like to score in the paint only...

starting point guard damjan saric...not great, but at this point better then dominovic who is physcly weak. and starting wing frano beslic. beslic is sg/sf. not star prospect like arapovic or mazalin, but level of tomic...or bosnjak from 95. generation.

and shooting is problem. only dominovic and bozic are good shooters, but bozic is unexpirianced agaist higl level players as he comes from region with very low level of basketball where he scores 50-60 evry game playeng vith unequal competition. he must move to zagreb or somewhere in dalmatia. whille bouth tomic and mazalin at this point have very bad shoothing mechanics, in ofense they live from penetration
