* - WABA sources confirmed that a decision on the participation of Syrian club Al Jala’a as a representative of WABA will be decided only after the WABA board meeting on 12 May. Al Jala’a forfeited the fifth and final game of the WABA League Finals to Al Riyadi Beirut of Lebanon recently raising question marks about their participation in Manila.

wtf.
only Gilas and KL are non-mid east teams.... So Korea and India declined the invitation huh....

Man, I hope the ASEAN teams can pull off something spectacular.
Don't count the Dragons out! They have a the best LOGO!

ASU and Al Jalaa are way better than the rest of the teams mentioned as 2nd level teams... In my opinion if you want to rate the teams you should have 3 different levels.

Al Rayyan roster last year (I believe should be the same this year) consisted of (I just mentioned the big names and those that i'm sure of):

Targuy Ngombo 196-F-89
Abdullah Shaher 198-F-91
Saad Abdulrahman Ali 193-F-85
Yasseen Musa 204-F-80
Ali Turki 201-F-82
Erfan Ali Saeed 200-F-83
Omer Abgader Salem 205-C-83

Also their foreign players in the Qatari league this year include:
Chauncey Leslie 183-G-81
Leather Terrence 204-C-81

It's possible that Al Rayyan will take players from other teams as well but the 7 names I mentioned above also play for the Qatari NT so I do believe that they will be representing Al Rayan in the upcoming Champions Cup

(No need for that. Khalid80) Sam Daghlas and Zaid aren t god ,even if they Participate ,ASU is not a complete team !! Riyadi and Mahram have everything a bench Level who have the same level as the starting five ,ok i will not talk anymore but you will see in Asia or in arab how Riyadi will smash ASU ,are u talking about Jordan League ?? you have to watch some games For Riyadi who got the title and then i think you will say that i am right ,Riyadi as i said Earlier are different from Riyadi in the past years ,trust me they are very close to win it they are playing really good !! beating Champville 3-0 in Finals !!beating Sagesse 3-0 in Finals??
yhou will see trust me ,that 2 3 teams can Fight on the title Riyadi-Mahram-Smart Gilas (Rayyan if they have Quatar NT they will fight also ) the best option for ASU is like last year playing on the 3rd spot for maximum !!

Guys let's stick to the topic and let the results of the games speak for themselves. Posting provocative posts will be deleted.

mahram with their new imports will definetly be one of the strongest contenders even if they didn't reach the finals of WABA.
As for ASU for sure they can do sth if they can manage to sign high level imports to be able to match riyadi and mahram since their local players are up to level.

I wished to see other asian teams participating in Asia, i feel i am watching an other version of WABA.

I was hoping that since this year the championship is being played in Philippines that teams from Korea and Japan will play but unfortunately both will not participate due to different circumstances.

Also if the CBA (China) Champions would join again like before 1999 this championship would really have a top notch level and be very competitive...

why don't a chinese team join the championship?really i don't have an answer,do you have an idea about the cause?

No real incentive, none of the East Asian pro teams has any regards for this tournament for an entire decade. So, "a Japanese team will participate" turns out to be just a rumor after all, like I had suspected.

so its Qatar NT + 2 imports.. this means they will compete..

the weird thing is that Best 4 teams in the tournament are in the same group!!

Almost... If we see the names of Hashem Zeidan, Souleymane Ndour and Daoud Musa on the roster then that means that Al Rayan has taken players from other teams as well.

If you look at it though this means that the quarterfinals will be easier for these 4 teams since they will be playing against the teams from the other group (except for maybe the teams that will end in 3rd and 4th place as they will most probably be facing ASU or Smart Gilas in the quarterfinals)

as it would seem, the qatari will be a team to be reckoned with, specially with their all african dream team with ngombo, and the fact that they are negotiating with some high level ex NBA imports:D
i hope riyadi will be able to make it through the first round:D
