Its more of market positioning or branding. Why would people lineup for an iphone17 than the latest samsung galaxy or other phone brands kahit yung tech naman e minsan lamang pa si samsung? UAAP schools position themselves as premium collegiate league. Same reason why they only accept schools with university status. They even have a cable channel of their own. And now pirating a player from other leagues seems like salvation in the eye of most people. If San Beda wants to uplift their image sa enrollees, best thing to do is to jump to the UAAP bandwagon.

Even in other sports same can be said. Look at volleyball. In the pvl for every 1 player of the ncaa, there's probably 8 or 9 from uaap. There aint alot of ncaa players there (tas most of them pa come from benilde lol).
Ncaa teams alone would often be annihilated by uaap teams whenever they battle each other so the talent and recruitment discrepancy is often in display.

Exactly my point. If they want to help their athletes and their own school. Move to the premier league. Sure its not the oldest nor the 'grandest'....but being those things nowadays doesnt neccesarily make ncaa the best either. Other than being the oldest and 'grandest', what else is the ncaa proud of? Hahaha.
Ask a couple rando in the street, if they have the choice to which school they wanna go to, where will they go, to an ncaa school, or a uaap school?
That alone should tell you its time to move.
I agree with this. It's absurd how the semifinals of the uaap features half of its member schools. Even if it's a total merge, could be something like what the NCAA did this year. UAAP could be group A, NCAA could be group B. Then do a crossover playoffs. They should just find additional schools for group A to level things out.

Yes, right? Start with these two leagues. Pass muna the CESAFi etc. It will uplift the bias regarding the "big 4", send your kid to this or that school to have a "chance". All these schools offer something good. People are just brainwashed that UAAP schools are better at everything.

Man don't get me started on this. Playing in the B-league or KBL doesn't automatically make them better than our PBA players. Most UAAP "stars" are not even dominant in the pros. NC athletes has proven time & again that they're just as good, if not better lol. This is just basketball though.

The only reason I can think of for why SBU would rather stay in the NCAA is the cheerleading competition. Man, we suck at that.

How exactly are ncaa athletes good or better than uaaap? lol enlighten me on your basis on that as well haha. Im also waiting on your reason why you still want san beda to stay haha. Im not even sure if you're from san beda, coz it sounds like you're more of ncaa fan thats stuck in the past.
You had me rolling the dominant thing lmao you do realize that uaap's best prospects end up abroad the dwights the the kq's, the tamayo's and alot more.
You know ncaa is second rate when their best and brightest always end up in uaap and ncaa is treated as a farm league.

To be honest i cant think of any other reason why yall want to stay. Other than a 10 peat lmao, Sure thats dandy and all but would rather do that against second rate teams than winning one over top programs like dlsu ateneo or up?
I mean lets get real the reason why we havent had a succesful iteration of the big dance is because the best programs in the country are in the uaap. Thats why winning there is almost equivalent to winning the national championships.
Heck pinoyliga even tried doing it, guess who won the last tourney. The only uaap team that joined lmao.
Look at the ncaa teams besides csb sbu and maybe letran, how many of them can beat uaap teams. The way i look at it 7 of its 8 teams are legit good. Even the likes adamson and feu are pretty formidable against ncaa's best teams and those 2 didnt even make their league's final 4.

You can't merge the 2 leagues. Even the US has countless of collegiate leagues.
What they do have is The Big Dance. It's what we can dream of. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening soon. If I'm the UAAP, why would I risk someone else being crowned national champions when they see their champs as the best collegiate team in the country?
Add the fact that the NCAA will always be at a disadvantage with no FSAs and the stars getting drafter during their senior year, and yeah it's not in the NCs best interest as well.
