2025 FIBA womens Asian Cup

Kids want to play the sports they like.
But on the other side, SBP should be aggressive to recruit players, especially those tall player that team needs... It's still competition after all.. Di pwede hayaan lang ng SBP porket pag babae eh most of them should play volleyball.. give them benefits that occurs them to stick with the sport.. Just like recruitment wars in UAAP.. kung tutunganga ka lang at walang gagawin then you can't get any marquee prospects.. Make them believe that womens basketball have a future too...

There’s more money and future in volleyball, so….
That's wrong mindset.. Think at UAAP recruitment wars between schools, If a school aggressively recruiting prospects then may makukuha sila, If tutunganga lang sila just like UE then no one will play for your school except for 2nd or 3rd rated athletes.. if SBP are aggressively recruiting players for women's basketball and make them believe that there is future in basketball too as profession.. We have WMPBL right now.. we are atleast top 6 in Asia today, we are consistent medalist in seagames... If SBP will not move and do nothing, then Wala talaga manyayare... Look at PNVF, in volleyball, the men's side are always overshadowed by mens basketball here, but they still aggressively recruiting prospects and getting good players.. iba pa sa kanila former basketball athletes that already shift to volleyball because PNVF believes them that there is a hope for men's volleyball, SBP should took notice.. Competition parin to, SBP should play cards and compete for women's athletes to try basketball..

Nu has done good job on maximizing womens basketball. For a non basketball country( for girls) tapping the best women talent possible for our team.

off-topic:

speaking of mens volleyball, specifically our current Alas Pilipinas men even though we lost games against Pakistan, Chinese Taipei and

last night game against Thailand.

we've seen a big improvement compared to last year.

but the most glaring thing that the team need to address moving forward is the Middle Block position.

and it was manifested again last night with that lumbering 33 yr. old 6'8 Thai-Mali big guy

keeps on pounding on his signature windmill spike in slow motion to our hapless

in fairness to 6'4 Peng Taguibulos, 6'5 Lloyd Josafat and 6'6 Kim Malabunga it's very obvious that they can't keep up

with that behemoth.

PNVF should really pursue in convincing 6'9 MB Kyle Paulson and 6'6 Setter Cameron Wurl to join the program

coach Angelino Frigoni's system is a revelation and this time we need to upgrade our lineup to improve our net defense.

and now back to our womens program

the SBP sponsored Las Vegas Showcase from July 28-31 for U16 Boys and Girls would be very interesting

obviously coach Pat and coach tinyente must attend that event.

FNS already release a teaser "Our players are ready for this! introducing new talents Gilas ready; both Girls and Boys".

there you go.

Our grass roots doesnt really motivate us to do pancake dives lol.. who will try it on cemented courts. Thats why floor defense is a weak point for phil volleyball as a whole

If there was , eya, fifi, gagate and all those tall girls would have joined their school’s basketball team
Even atleast 5 tall girls atleast pirated from volleyball such as Laput, Gagate or Solomon, who are atleast 5'10 above players, Gilas women can have taller team in international tournaments...

Japan with their new roster struggling.. understandable since their best players are in WNBA and unavailable to participate. But give credit to Lebanon.. they surprised asian women's basketball followers... I don't know if we can beat Lebanon.. they are taller than us.. if we can have a good shooting day maybe.. but if we struggling then I don't see we can win against Lebanon..

VJD is probably our best player here but man we need some height, the NP slot should be for big. SBP should really push for her exemption, the fact that she is pure blooded pinay and plays as NP sucks.

53-25

Animam is scoreless with 0/8 fg
She needs to practice perimeter shots and especially freethrows.. If other countries knows her weaknesses, She will get stagnant.. She has to evolve not just a post up player, There are many taller and bigger players than her.. Taulava is a poor shooter before but improved it in his final years of her career.. She needs to notice that...

I don't get coach Pat... We are smaller than Australia, He should focus more on shooting and speed, But pinipilit nya mag drive mga players nya, Knowing that we are smaller and chances that their shots will be deflected.. He's worst than coach Josh... I hope SBP should hire a better coach than him.. I acknowledge his dedication to our women's basketball program but we need to upgraded.. Baka bumagsak tayo uli sa Division 2 if SBP will not do any moves..

C Animam 6'3
C Dela Rosa 6'0
Villanueva 5'9-5'10?
G Surada 5'9
G Ozar 5'8
G De Jesus 5'8
G Sugapong 5'8
F Pagdulagan 5'7
G Panganiban 5'7
Pastrana 5'7
G Fajardo 5'5
G Castillo 5'4

I think we are a bit undersized. Ideally, in women's division, the team needs atleast 3-4 players 6'0 or taller. Then, atleast half of the team stands atleast 5'9 or taller.

We have plenty of women within the 5'9-5'11 range and a handful of women standing 6'0-6'1. Unfortunately, they are either volleyball players or beauty queens.

abysmal showing. as much effort was shown, we were physically overmatched. we wanted to use speed but AUS can even match that. only a team with teamwork can match with AUS. One-on-one DDO does not work, and too much freedom as the system results in too many bad shots. though there was better effort compared to Jones Cup.

VDJ has one surge in the 1Q and that's it. Animam was flatly stopped. Sugapong is continuing her bad summer, essentially shooting us out of the game with bad shot selection, turnover prone, her playing time should be limited, a more structured offense might suit her more.

coaching staff should figure this out by Lebanon game. otherwise, we risk a relegation game with most likely Indonesia. hosting and relegated to Division B is a bad look.

this AUS women team is unforgiving. very good defensively and beating them by fastbreaks. right now eating Lebanon alive in 1Q. at least we had small spurt in 1Q due to speed. also expecting an 80-pt drubbing as they did to PH. lets see if LBN can do something.

This is already on a coaching side.. I get it we are undersized but there are many ways to counter it.. Coach Pat doesn't know how to coach properly.. Too many 1 on 1 plays, bad passes, bad TOs.. We have atleast 4 US NCAA players and outstanding PRO player in Animam, We should be better than this.. Do you think coach Tab suits women's basketball as a coach? I think it's better to put him there by SBP.. atleast there is no political issue in women side.. Coach Tab can focus on developing players w/o any drama...

Coach Pat loves his small ball. He should have 4 to 5 bigs (center, PF) in the team. That way he can slide down Ozar to 3 making the team much taller.
