If Lebanon will be suspended(hope not) what country will replace the Lebanese NT in Manila?

Logically speaking it will be the team that finished in the WABA after Iran, Lebanon and Jordan which would be Iraq but to be honest I don't think anyone even wants to think about this happening and let's hope this doesn't occur.

Khalid, Though I don't have details on what is happening, but I don't think and I hope that FIBA will not be that harsh and make such hasty move. Lebanon is one of the contenders and a significant team/ country in FIBA ASIA and even in the world stage.

We'll see your team in Manila :)

Let's hope so pareng splitzapper! What is upsetting me so much is that these people in power don't care that they're destroying the game that each and every Lebanese citizen is so proud of...
The one thing that I look up to and have hope in when it comes to Lebanon is basketball because it this game that has led to Lebanon being known all over the world... When I was hanging out with the Lithuanian fans in Izmir during the 2010 World Championship 3 years ago they all told me how much they were pleasantly surprised to see that many fans at the stadium and when I told them that all the Lebanese fans arranged to come by themselves and without any assistance from the Lebanese federation they were even more impressed and that's why everyone respects the Lebanese NT and the Lebanese fans because they can see how much the players and fans give everything they have for the NT.
I wish the same could be said about our crappy federation and a few owners of Lebanese basketball clubs

They are both injured. bassel bawji is sick and roy smeha has a surgery. conclusion? if julien doesnt join the team we are in deep shit!.

No we are not. We have three great fighters can cover up the 4. And Lo is a smart player, I don't remember one time he was on foul trouble.

The margin of error we have though is very small... Facing teams like Iran and China will be really tough since they have a clear height advantage.

We need to play smart, box out and just keep fighting to take care of our rebounds and not give second chances to any opposing team.

Hello guys,

Yesterday I was sitting with someone in sagesse management, he thinks that Julian will join the NT and everything written on the sports websites are completely wrong especially about the 200k story. But as you know, Julian is a professional player so ....... :) let s wait and see

All the way to SPAIN !!!

It's not news that we will lack in size against these two.
I agree box out is the key against bigger teams plus controlling the tempo/ the pace of the game.

Of course he will say that man. He can't stand the idea of losing him specially with that contract.
It's not 200k, it's 25k for the tournament. Source: Jean Mamo.

agree with mavrick_h , julian doesn t have any choice since the Australian NT didn't call him , or he joins or he will lose his contract + 25K.

Ok guys first game played, there was no streaming however the team has a big mountain to climb with such performance. We need to finalize these outside concerns about the league and the joining of JK. The team looked very exhausted as it appears, still lacking chemistry. The only good thing that everyone had a decent playing time (big rotation).

Bad points to be worked on:
- 25 TO against a secondary team is a bit to much.
- 9 Assists not the best team work.
- Missing 14 FTs is really a game changer.
- Bad offensive execution.

guys, it's not today the final decision of julian kh to see if he want to join or not ?

In fact man i was not surprised with such a result. It's obvious that our players didn't get the rhythm yet. ( no chemistry )

anyway thank you for the stats, as we can see only 9 assists with 25 turnovers !!!! this is not acceptable at all !!! BUT this is a friendly tournament... ghassan is a smart coach... by these different rotations as you mentioned before, he gave everyone a chance and now will start to build his lineup. Julian s matter should be finalized as soon as possible ( i heard next week)..

Half Time 43 - 41 for Lebanon

Guys we r playing a good basketball ( i dnt wanna mention the last 5 minutes ). Nice combination between Haidar and Ammoury !!!! we are playing without fady el

khatib, ali mahmoud and a pure center. Note that we were up by 13 points!!!

( rod - ( abdel nour - Hussein khatib ) - stephan - haidar and ammoury )

Bravoooooo keep it up guysssssssss!!!

Congratulations guys, we played a great basketball. Strong and systematic defense which obliged the Japanese to use the outside game. They couldn't play under the basket in an easy way NOTE that we are missing pure center. The only negative point is "free throws" , we missed like 15 free throws...

Fady : played for only 2 quarters especially under the basket while he scored some outside shots

Elie Estephan : this guy is on the right track ( great shooting percentage with some cuts to the basket )

Abdel Nour: Man of the game ( more than 20 points with 6 rebounds i think )

ROdrigue : Dynamo of the Team ( more than 10 rebounds :) with lots of assists )

Ammoury : he played the position 5 ( TRUE WARRIOR )

Haidar : some good moves under the basket ( still needs time to adapt with the team)

Hussein el khatib ; played a bit and scored a 3

Ali Mahmoud : played for chi 10 minutes and did 4 fouls ( some wrong calls )

Ali Kanaan : Very good game with 100% on 3 points

Mohamad Ibrahim: this guy is surprising me... i am not seeing him the turning point player anymore... too many quick attempts

Amir: did not play

Elie Stephan got injured in yesterday's game after he was getting back on defense and managed to have a great block on one of the Japanese players after which he landed a bit awkwardly... It's very unfortunate cuz he had a great game...
The diagnosis indicates that he needs rest for 3 days so I hope he will be ready for the game against Jordan on the 12th since we don't play any game on the 11th.

The team slowly starting to find his way.
What a second quarter!

Nice to see everyone getting involved. And the best part we're not playing with our full squad. :)

Man I could not watch the game, can u give your opinion since you watched it.

Yeah sure. We had a slow start in the first quarter even though we ended the quarter down 2 pts. The second quarter was a big turnaround in the game both defensively and offensively. At half time we had a 13 pts lead 40-27. We started the third quarter with many great plays and the margin arrived to 18 pts somewhere. They closed the gap at the end of the third. Last quarter was the second best quarter for the team with everybody participating in the game.

Technically its pretty obvious we are lacking the big guy under the basket . Fadi's playing on 4. Apparently the chemistry between the players is shaping up. Amir & Moe had a great game specially in the second quarter. Ali Haidar still adapting with the team. I really like his positive energy that brings to the team. Jean was a bit off today but defensively he remains a beast. I like the fact that GS is using a big rotation. Everyone played even Nadim. We were shooting passing and defending very well today. This and we still lacking at least 2 important players.
