UAAP season 87

Do we even still have those 20 y/o high schoolers playing in the uaap jrs now? In the ncaa we'll know once the jrs basketball opens in feb. I mean in the past years, its pretty understandable due to the pandemic, but 2-3 years after, those guys should have moved on to college already. I think most of the 21-22 y/o rookies we see in college today are mostly team A rejects thats spent time with their school's team b, spent time in residency, recovering from an injury or sabbatical from basketball.

There is an age limit in HS, which is why Pasaol is no longer playing for the FEU juniors team despite still being in HS.

is there a philippine law that puts an age limit for someone to attend high school or college?

I think what IPC meant was the the limit on playing eligibility. For me 18 and under is fair enough. Once you reached the age of 19, you should be barred from playing. A 19 or 20 y/o playing against 16 y/o is not fair. This could also discouraged kids from overstretching their high school tenure.

Yeah, exactly what I meant. You can be a high school student and play in the seniors when you're old enough, ideally.

Yes. Jrs Basketball should be for teeners only. 20yo Varsity SHS players should be permitted to play at the Srs level.

Yes. Either sit out your remaining HS years when you're 20+ (during season) or play Srs level if you get accepted. That's one way to discourage overstaying HS and a possible way to encourage loyal transition.

Also means that you'll been 2 years out of competition if you're a 21 year old college rookie. We need to figure out ways to encourage playing up instead of gaming the system and sandbagging.

Really thankful for the advent of overseas gigs. Nothing locally would have changed without it.

Estacio is fine. Was a legit rotation piece under Pumaren. His ball handling was useful.

He’s a solid backup piece . Steady can shoot and plays hard but can’t really knife through defenses and doesn’t have “sauce” to create separation and driving lanes

that can be challenged in a court of law actually since it'll be discriminating among those who for whatever reason couldn't finish studies earlier, the only reason no one is challenging it is because the players and their families have accepted it as an unwritten rule (not in the leagues but based on philippine law - same way with some boneheaded pba rules on player's rights)

also is it really unfair for a 20 year to play against a 16 year old? i've seen leagues were it was anything goes when it came to age but some teens (14-16 yos) were doing fine even dominating. at the end of the day its all about talent really just look at how young andy gemao demolished the "mama" cris hubilla.

Estacio isnt good. Even in the ncaa he will struggle

he should be the Jorrick Bautista place right now. FEU projected him the future king tamaraw. him and Bautista combination what ifs for FEU. But he chose a better green (DLSU).

funny enough that real star is Remogat. High usage pg with amazing decision making, handles and shooting. Doesn’t have elite measurable but masked up for it

back in their HS. remogat seldom used. he's the 4 PG of the team, they don't see him as their future king tam or part of the seniors team. Estacio is also former red cub and bautista former batang gilas so its obvious FEU will pick them over remogat, well hard work pays off. good for him..

The trio of Baclaan, Bahay and Cortez in one team will be disastrous for them. All 3 are ball dominant and will spread the playing time too thin. But I want them in one team to disprove my theory.
