  • Orlando Magic General Manager Otis Smith commented about the situation of star center Dwight Howard, who is currently in the rumors for a trade scenario. Smith said that the Magic are committed to keep Howard for long term, but admitted that a trade for Howard could happen if the Magic are left with no option of retaining him.

What a shame and quite pathetic behavior from a CEO. Toughen it up man. It's not the end of the world if D-Howard leaves you... or maybe it is

It could be destructive for the Magic when they lose Howard. They will have to re-build from scratch where much like the time when Shaquille O'Neal left them. It took them some years to regain respectability when they signed then Tracy McGrady and Grant Hill.

Tough times for the Magic if they lose Howard. Down the line, they may have another shot at the first overall pick where plenty of bigmen are coming up, but the likes of Howard may not come again.

Information has surfaced that the trade is a sign and trade; on which the contract of Glen Davis is valued at $26 million for a four year bond.

The Celtics did include guard Von Wafer into the mix as the Magic asked. Wafer is to sign a three year contract on which the succeeding two years are not guaranteed.

                            • I don't mean to sound biased as a Nets fan, but I think a trade to the Nets is best for the Magic.

Sure, you can get a Twin Tower (Pau and Bynum) from the Lakers. But then again, Pau is old and Bynum is not really dependable with those knees. So if you have these two players plus whatever the Magic has left, they're not going to go deep in the playoffs.

They can't even rebuild with those two since Pau as mentioned is old.

But if they trade with the Nets, they'll get Brook (a future All Star) and a couple of draft picks. They're not going to go deep in the playoffs (like if they have Pau and Bynum) but at least they can rebuild.

Plus the New Jersey Nets are willing to absorb the contract of Hedo Turkoglu. That will allow the Magic with plenty of cap space into next off-season's free agency class and rebuild with draft picks in the draft for the coming years.
