  • Outrageous article by Walla - "All Saints Day"

Tonight Walla published outrageous lies by Mr. Vainauskas - President of Rytas Vilnius saying that "All Saints Day" is memorial day in Lithuania and Vilna supposedly asked Euroleague and Maccabi to shift the game. He said that Maccabi refused and EL not answered...
I wondering - same "All Saints Day" is for all Western Europe countries, and it somehow does not bother Spanish Real, Barca and Tau, Italian Bologna, Slovenian Olimpija and French Le Mans to play tomorrow. Why only Rytas suddenly is offended? And why Walla publishes such a "news'???
I think it is all the same story again - like in Spahija case - crazy Vainauskas published all kinds of lies against Maccabi and Spahija, while have signed another coach... Psychological war against Maccabi by Rytas I can understand, but red Walla cooperating - it is really outrageous.

Yes, tomorrow is "All Saints' Day" but the games have been played on this day almost every year so I don't see why they wouldn't play it tomorrow.

It's just a custom mostly to light candles and visit the graves of deceased relatives, nothing else.
That's what I wrote in the other topic... I don't know how serious people take this holiday, because as I see people in Slovenia mostly consider this just as a custom...

As I heard from my Lithuanian friends... don't take that Vainauskas serious, he is a handicaped, half retarded, drug addict.

Vainauskas I do not take seriously - my anger is against so called "journalists" at Walla site. No other self-respecting site in Israel did not publish it. Only Walla took it as scoop...

It's Vilnius, not Vilna. It's slightly similar to calling Jerusalem al-Quds
Anyway, I don't understand what harm was done by this article?

            2. What is 'red' Walla ?
            3. The last thing i want to see is religion interfering with basketball.

                1. As I wrote - you had to see talkbacks full of fire and brimstone against Maccabi. Most of them are Hapoel fans, but still. All this is on our local sensitivity to remembrance etc.
                2. Walla is site which belongs to Haaretz newspaper - considered as very left (i.e. red) one. Some might call it "ultra left".
                3. Agree. In any case those are just ravings of mad Vainauskas, but as I wrote, problem is "journalists" giving him too much publicity.

He probably paid them to write such stuff - he really knows how to flame.

So you angry because Vainauskas and Hapoel fans don't respected Maccabi enough?

No, I mostly angry that so-called "journalists" did not make their job, which is very simple - 1. Check what "All Saints Day" is (Wikipedia has extensive article, as elaj wrote). 2. Check with EL why they (supposedly) did not answer to Rytas. 3. Check why in the hell all Western European teams from Catholic countries do not mind to play tomorrow. 4. Check with Maccabi.
They did only 4th. Maccabi hotly denied all this. So instead of check first 3 and say - OMG this is bullshit, they published it.

have you ever heard about "yellow" newspapers?
so what if they wrote that?
you don't have to read it or give any attention to that..

Dude you are doing the same things they do.

You have taken this from it's original context of 'not-serious journalism' to political arguments, accusing them being 'red' and then mocking their 'intellectual' or 'progressive' status.

I don't know why you got so upset at the first place and continue with all this hate.
