You really have a very good idea ...... but the question boils again to MONEY ..... Problem is there are no sponsors .... If you notice there are only a few Commercial Ads when the games are shown. MVP was forced to put in PLDT, SMART and Talk N Text as Ads. TV Air Time is very expensive. And there are Blocktimers on Live the time of the games which makes it almost impossible. Ad Agencies are saying there is a low TV Viewership, the surveys being done validated that during the times the games are played more houses watch those Korean Telenovelas. The PBA itself is having a hard time getting a 20% viewership.

USC takes turn in PCCL Sweet 16 round
      by Correspondent Jonas Panerio
      First Posted 12:34:00 11/26/2008

After seeing the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars get thrashed mercilessly by the San Beda Red Lions, the University of San Carlos (USC) will be trying to hold Cebu's banner up high when they take on UAAP powerhouse La Salle in the Sweet 16 phase of the Philippine Collegiate Championship on Wednesday at the Arena in San Juan City.

Size will once again be an issue as the Archers will be parading Marko Batricevic, Rico Maierhoffer and PJ Barua along with their deadly perimeter attack led by JV Casio, James Mangahas and rookie LA Revilla and Joshua Webb.

The Warriors will try to counter with fine-tuned offense led by their high-flying wingmen combination of Giovanni Padillo and former Philippine Christian University Dolphin Sam Hermosa. Though undersized, Joven Cortes, Eddie Bakker and Emel Rowe will try to fill in the shoes of two-time Cesafi MVP Enrico Llanto, who is not playing because of an injury.

USC managed to sneak into the quarterfinal phase after finishing in the top two of the Zone 4 championships which was held last week in Cagayan de Oro City.

The winner of this matchup will advance to the Elite Eight and will await the winner of the University of the Visayas- University of the East encounter on Friday.

It might be safe to say Coach Franz used most of his bench players basing on their scoring stat.

                        • Archers shackle USC 5

La Salle, with little preparation due to conflict of schedule, banked on an unrelenting pressing defense to get past University of San Carlos, 71-51, in the 2008 Philippine Collegiate Champions League Sweet 16 at The Arena in San Juan yesterday.

The Archers, the 2008 UAAP losing finalists, played full-court defense throughout, giving the Warriors a tough time to set up their halfcourt plays.

Hitting their strides offensively, the Archers opened up a 16-point spread at 31-15 and went on to complete the win to arrange a quarterfinal duel with the winner of the University of the East-University of Visayas clash today.

La Salle became the third seeded team to make the Final Eight after Ateneo and San Beda while San Carlos became the second provincial team to be booted out of the elite tourney after San Jose-Recoletos.

“We’re lucky to be bracketed with San Carlos because I don’t think we had a decent practice due to conflict of schedule. In our last practice, we only had seven players present,” said La Salle coach Franz Pumaren.

“There’s no question this is a good tournament but, in my personal opinion, they (league officials) should look for ways to schedule it in such a way that’s favorable to all the teams concerned. Maybe, February is a better schedule just like the old inter-collegiate tourney,” added Pumaren complaining his team was out of sync due to lack of practice.

La Salle did appear to be sluggish in the early going, allowing San Carlos to take the early initiative.

The Archers seized control towards the end of the first quarter, though, and kept the Warriors at bay the rest of the way.

Pumaren said JV Casio, James Mangahas, Rico Maierhofer, Peejay Barua, P.J. Walsham and Rejan Lee have commitments in the PBL and he can’t force them to practice with La Salle if they have a game or practice with their commercial teams.

Earlier, Mapua came out smoking from the halftime huddle and held off Manuel Luis Quezon U, 97-85.

“They’re (the Stallions) unscouted. We had to use the first half to scout them before buckling down to work,” said Mapua coach Leo Isaac.

Neil Pascual, Jonathan Banal, Ian Mazo and Jayson Pascual teamed up in a searing third-quarter attack carrying the Cardinals to the win and to a Last Eight encounter with the Blue Eagles Sunday.

Banal buried three triples and finished with a team-high 20 points while Pascual and Mark Sarangay both came through with a double-double efforts for Mapua which became the first qualifier to make it past the opening round of the tourney sponsored by Filoil, Flying V, PLDT-Smart, KFC, Molten, Adidas, Accel and The Philippine STAR.
