Togo has two imports so far in Jimmy Williams from the US and Hassan(e) Fofana who is from Guinea and played in the US before. They are planning to get Fred Adjiwanou from France, who is of Togolese decent.

Why didn't Samhan join the squad? What's the problem with him? He was talkin' about NT like a sure thing last season...

It's unfortunate that Egypt will not be playing with full force in the upcoming Afrobasket especially with the absence of their talented big men at the center and forward positions: Tarek El Ghannam, the 2 Omars, Ismail Ahmed...

[TCD] - Afrobasket 2011 : Patrick Maucouvert: ''We'll play with attitude''

Chad will be the only national side taking part that has never competed in Africa’s showpiece event. This is nothing that worries Chad’s coach, Frenchman Patrick Maucouvert.

''We don’t have much experience, but all we are going to do is play with attitude,'' Moucouvert said to FIBA.com.

Recently handed the reins to the team, Maucouvert, who coaches French club Feurs Forez of NM2, plans to bring a combination of home-, Europe- and United States-based players to the tournament.

''We’ll put together the best players we have. It will be an extraordinary experience to play African teams like Angola, Senegal and Morocco in Madagascar.''

                  Chad preliminary squad
Jacques Alingue, Garba Makka, Guillaume Pina, Ali Djim Abdoul, Robinson Russel, Dounia Issa, Baykam Kang-Irang, Elysee Djimrassem, Ronald Kolmia, Theodore Mbaiarsi, Bienvenu Djimassal, Lebtoloum Ahidjo, Abderamane Mbaindiguim, Asnal Noubaramadji, Koibe Mickael, Dillah Mbairessem, Ngadi Mario, Ousmane Sale, Richard Moguena, Ngarasde Djimtoide.

One of those names doesn't fit

Too bad they don't have Ali Djim's former high school teammates Mbai Goto Olivier (committed to Clemson but never played there, supposed to be going to Central Michigan next year) and David Baroum (Bethune-Cookman).

Yeah, but think of all the players Rwanda is missing:

                          Kobe Niyindora
                          LeBron Makuza
                          Dwight Habineza
                          Rajon Mugiraneza
                          Dwyane Musinga
                          Derrick Mukabunane
                          Tim Ntaganda

All are "US-based" and ungoogleable but I hear they're awesome.

FIBA will okay that as Rwanda will be hosting the next African Championships (You can bet on that).
I already send my profile to the Rwandan basketball federation. I want to sit on the bench. Mojado Mexikanunga

Also, Morocco and Ivory Coast are in Tunis and already played against each other, Morocco was successful over the Elephants 79-66.
