that's a lot!
thanx for the info. nice avi BTW
The court seems to be empty!!!! Why is that???
Mahram have been winning the Iranian title for what now 3 years? and they're not popular???!!! That's weird.I took these pictures 15 mins before the match. 500~1000 was in stadium but they were behind my camera ! but I know this is not a good number for Tehran , one of the biggest city of the world. but I didn't expect more because :
* Lack of announcement
* this is not considered as an important sport tournament here.
* Azadi Sport Complex is a few kilometers out of the city and travelling to this stadium is not easy.
* Basketball is not a very popular sport in Tehran.
* Mahram is not a popular team.

And basketball is not popular in Tehran? is it more popular in other cities?
for many people, important tournaments are better than good level tournaments. the number of crowd on saturday (SL final Mahram-ZobAhan) was double. but in general Mahram can't bring more than 1000 persons to the stadium. but the stadium was packed for Asian U18 championships.This might not be so important but 2 Iranian Teams are competing in the tournament and it's an official tournament with a level that is higher than that of the Iranian League with the presence of both Jalaa and Riyadi (I didn't see anyone in Iran who made Mahram suffer as Riyadi did with them w days ago and previously won them in Dubai).
By the way how many fans can the Azadi Court host?

This is not weird to me, People more care about the national team here. Tehran has many sport clubs (in different sports) but none of them are popular ! of course except the two very popular football clubs, Esteghal and Persepolis
yes for sure, my friend gorganbasketball can tell u about the popularity of basketball in Gorgan.
see this video and their enthusiasm

Azadi Complex has 4 courts but this one (which is specialized in men's basketball) has a capacity of 4000~5000 people. but the biggest court (which is more used for Wrestling and Futsal) can host 12000 people.
