MAH
Vorman 18
Kamrani 18
Woods 26
Afagh 9
Nikkhah 16

ZOB
Baheran 2
Davoudi 4
Nasajpour 12
Sahakian 6
Garnett 22
Ahmadian 1
Wright 19
Rouzbahani 4

Zob was really close to beat them but they collapsed once again in the last quarter :mad: Mahram was in danger in 3rd quarter but a 3 pointer by Afagh at the buzzer saved them. (the same happend in the SL final)
Kamrani was MVP ! but both teams didn't play well !

Zob has many good 3 pointer but I don't know what happened for them ! they missed many 3s :mad: also Wright had a bad day despite his 19 pts. he missed some easy baskets !

I am going to hate Mahram !!!!

I didn't stay in the stadium to watch this match and I don't know either he played or he did'nt but Michael Madanly trained with the team and he looked healthy to me ! (during the warm-up)

riyadi are playing in this tournament withou Matt, ali and jean!! 3 main players!! and riyadi's target in this tournament is to qualify for asia, not more!! Our target is to win asia cup !! we must just win against hoops and the iraqi team!! imagine mahram are playing without vroman, kamrani and afagh!! against a full riyadi squad!! they will lose by 20 pts!! so these matches are just like a training for riyadi! and i'm sure that this year asia cup is for Riyadi ( Lebanon ) :D:D

The court seems to be empty!!!! Why is that???

I took these pictures 15 mins before the match. 500~1000 was in stadium but they were behind my camera ! but I know this is not a good number for Tehran , one of the biggest city of the world. but I didn't expect more because :

* Lack of announcement
* this is not considered as an important sport tournament here.
* Azadi Sport Complex is a few kilometers out of the city and travelling to this stadium is not easy.
* Basketball is not a very popular sport in Tehran.
* Mahram is not a popular team.

Woowww a great win for hoops :D:D
that is really organised ,they will be very dangerous on mahram and jalaa and riyadi ...

Jalaa 99 - Zob 92

This is not a surprising result since Zob is playing really bad nowadays :(

the final match (Mahram-Jalaa) will be the real final !

Mahram have been winning the Iranian title for what now 3 years? and they're not popular???!!! That's weird.
And basketball is not popular in Tehran? is it more popular in other cities?
This might not be so important but 2 Iranian Teams are competing in the tournament and it's an official tournament with a level that is higher than that of the Iranian League with the presence of both Jalaa and Riyadi (I didn't see anyone in Iran who made Mahram suffer as Riyadi did with them w days ago and previously won them in Dubai).
By the way how many fans can the Azadi Court host?

This is not weird to me, People more care about the national team here. Tehran has many sport clubs (in different sports) but none of them are popular ! of course except the two very popular football clubs, Esteghal and Persepolis

yes for sure, my friend gorganbasketball can tell u about the popularity of basketball in Gorgan.
see this video and their enthusiasm

for many people, important tournaments are better than good level tournaments. the number of crowd on saturday (SL final Mahram-ZobAhan) was double. but in general Mahram can't bring more than 1000 persons to the stadium. but the stadium was packed for Asian U18 championships.

By the way how many fans can the Azadi Court host?

Azadi Complex has 4 courts but this one (which is specialized in men's basketball) has a capacity of 4000~5000 people. but the biggest court (which is more used for Wrestling and Futsal) can host 12000 people.

it doesnt look like zain is participating , that means theres already 4 teams from 4 countries the only game riyadi has to win is against hoops even if they lose or win against iraq it doesnt matter . Hoops is not an easy game they beat riyadi by 21 pts a couple of weeks ago ...Jordan has really reached a decline in basketball after their win against lebanon and qualification to the world championship and looks like they spent so much money just to get 3rd in asia that they cant afford having a league now :p they say its easier to get to the top than to stay there ..Iran has won asia twice in a row , Lebanon has been in the final 4 in asia for 8 straight years and 3 straight WBC qualifications ..it doesnt look like jordan is this kind of team where it took so much just to qualify for the 1st time and like rasheem said on asia basket they were lucky to play lebanon and not china in the bronze game thanks to the referee so atleast this will be a nice going out party for ayman deis b4 his retirement ofcourse if jordan have the budget to train and go prepared to turkey cuz in the end their representing a country so they should atleast play a few games b4 going . All of them except zaid abbas have been sitting at home since august 2009 :p

Basketball is popular in cities like Gorgan , Babol , Sanandaj , Kashan , Mahshahr and ... .
I believe Gorgan is most popular team in middle east. In Gorgan home matches we have got more than 6000 fans in the hall. Gorgan home court can host 5500 - 6000 fans and it becomes full 2 hours before the start of match.
Look at this pic. this is Gorgan home court!
