Great game today!!!
Since today's game exposed USA's weakness on the inside it got me thinking why Davis and Harden were chosen instead of guys like Cousins, Aldridge, Bynum and Hibbert? There's also Paul Millsap and Zach Randolph.
If it's size they need there are still a few who they can choose in the NBA.
Why weren't these players included in the initial pool? Or were they?
Big men aren't selected in Team Usa because they would not have enough pt than they normally do as it will be eaten by the likes of Carmelo Lebron and KD...unless you are Dwight who will be the closest thing to Tyson Chandler in the defensive scheme of things at the same time can keep in step with Kd and co. on the offense side.. as this you need to feed the big guys to get the game going much different how the USA system of offense works now
ever wonder why Blake Griff suddenly injured in the camp?![]()
I have some comments about the USA team. It seems that this USA team is a jump shoting team. The old strategy with the USA was to clog the lane and limit them to jumpers. That doesn't work with this team. The Americans are content with shooting 30 3pts a game. USA has allowed its opponets to score. Liths scored 95pts, Argentina 97, Australia 86 this is an average of 92.6 points a game. The USA allows teams to score a great ammount. This team is weird. They are not winning in the fashion most predicted they would.

I was thinking the same thing today- this USA team is strange comparted to our previous teams. They have played a larger portion of their games in the half court instead of out on the break. And like you said- they rely heavily on the 3 pt shot- our weakness in previous tournaments. Its some kind of bizarro Team USA but...........I like it. For one, it shows that we aren't so reliant on fast breaks, alley oops, etc. We can blow teams out even if they impose their tempo on us. I think this bodes well for future USA teams.
Bottom line is too much talent and coupled with coach K's player rotation. Opponents were tired and exhausted after the first half while team USA were still running like gazelles. I think Kevin Love is very suited for int'l play, he is not very tall but has a big and strong body to bang it up inside. Imagine Howard, Griffin and Love together on future USA teams, nightmare for other countries. Give me a thumbs up if I hit a bullseye here.
