Turkey NT 2013

And Kanter is not in the team? Great, we don't need him, we have Savas. :D

BTW I thought Omer Onan and Hedo was not part of the team since 2011, why are they in the team again?

This federation makes me sick.... We will not succeed in this tournament, but I hope it at least leads to someone being fired.... Or quitting, because he's a basketball dictator that is untouchable, and someone along with him

Crazy how the political organization of Turkey and the organization of TBF are so alike

Not only TBF, it's the same with football and TFF.

Likes of aziz yildirim, yildirim demirören, turgay demirel, etc.. a bunch of cunts who should be shot one by one.

These sikebahce lobby needs to get removed from turkish sports or we will keep on having these disappointments

Preliminary Roster:

PG: Dogus Balbay, Baris Ermis, Ender Arslan

SG: Sinan Guler, Melih Mahmutoglu, Omer Onan

SF: Birkan Batuk, Serhat Cetin, Emir Preldzic, Hidayet Turkoglu

PF: Kerem Gonlum, Izzet Turkyilmaz, Ilkan Karaman, Ersan Ilyasova

C: Semih Erden, Dusan Cantekin, Cemal Nalga, Oguz Savas, Omer Asik, Deniz Kilicli

Out: Kerem Tunceri (unknown reason), Cenk Akyol (unknown reason, political view), Enes Kanter (injury, expected to be ready for training in August, so more TBF issue again), Furkan Aldemir (injury)

Roster I want from the selected:

Dogus Balbay (PG), Baris Ermis (PG), Ender Arslan (PG), Sinan Guler (SG), Birkan Batuk (SG/SF), Serhat Cetin (SG/SF), Emir Preldzic (SF), Kerem Gonlum (PF), Ersan Ilyasova (PF), Semih Erden (C), Oguz Savas (C), Omer Asik (C)

Roster what I think coach (TBF) will select:

Dogus Balbay (PG) or Baris Ermis (PG), Ender Arslan (PG), Sinan Guler (SG), Omer Onan (SG), Serhat Cetin (SG/SF), Emir Preldzic (SF), Hidayet Turkoglu (SF), Kerem Gonlum (PF), Ersan Ilyasova (PF), Semih Erden (C), Oguz Savas (C), Omer Asik (C)

And as a fantasy of our coach Bogdan Tanjevic sometimes we will see below 5 players at the same time on court:

Emir Preldzic, Hidayet Turkoglu, Ersan Ilyasova, Kerem Gonlum, Omer Asik/Semih Erden

No hope from my point. If we make second round (last 12) I will think we do quite well with this roster and coach...

Ender Arslan and Omer Onan in the same team, this will not end well... Tanjevic was good coach once upon the time... Now he is just shadow and old fool.

this might be the most unorthodox statement i've ever heard from our NT.
and it's from ender...

the universe is collapsing.

this is probably just a red herring.

his real message is something like "we're focusing on "a" medal."
i'll never understand this medal thing. getting a bronze medal is the same thing with ending up 4th imo.

--

We're seeing a lot of Sinan-Emir at PG times.
This is a traditional behaviour of a Tanjevic team in prep games.

If we somehow get an optimal contribution off Ender AND Baris/Dogus
We'll do fine imo.

In Slovenia-Turkey game Omer Onan and Ender Arslan combined 1/7 and 0/5 field goals... Turkey lost by one point!!
Onan played 21 and Arslan played 18 mins.
Serhat Cetin was the best in our team with 11 points.

Conclusion: Tanjevic is idiot and Zeljko Obradovic made big mistake in allowing Cetin to go in Tofas instead of Fener.

Turkey won against Ukraine 72-64
Arslan played 3 only mins and Onan didn't play. It's quite clear why Turkey won this game.

Of course we can............ if we throw Ender and Omer Onan off the plane on the way to Slovenia. I guess that's what Janketa thinks. :D

IMO We can't qualify.

Sorry to interlope on your thread but I am very surprised by your pessimism. I know the friendly results have been poor, but you guys certainly have one of the 3 best rosters in the group along with Greece and Italy. I expect Turkey, Greece and Italy to advance although I have no idea in what order. The only way Russia advances is if Shved starts to play extremely well, which hasn't happened yet (in fact, is he even playing at all?)

I feel depressed when I look at the roster (or, our backcourt); but depending on final selection (and Italy's injuries), I may grow some hopes for the 2nd round. No further than that, I guess.

I think Turkey has potential to be medal competitor. Judging by the line-up quality I'd say you can finish group 1st, or perhaps 2nd - depending on the form of Greece(might be only my impression but they seem to be quite lucky squad over the last decade)

We're bashing our NT quite a lot but I think we have a better situation than Italy, Russia and Croatia.
I've seen all of our prep games, contrary to 2011, our offense seems to have a plan at least, through Emir and Ersan. Some simple plays will do.
We'll probably see a higher tempo than we do in the prep games.

As long as Ömer and Ender are not forcing the things, we won't pull a 2007 or 2011. We have a quality roster regardless of anything
Ok we're really bad at guards but ball handling and distribution will mainly be on Emir and Hidayet.
And they are not bad players
Serhat Çetin and Doğuş should be in the team imo.
I think Barış Ermiş is a better player atm but Doğuş has more things to offer to this NT.
On the other hand, Kerem Gönlüm has always been very important for the NT

Ender/Doğuş(Barış)
Ömer/Sinan/Serhat
Hidayet/Emir
Ersan/KG
Ömer/Semih/Oğuz

For the first round, if we perform well we can play with greece for the top spot. (However, I think even this is a very optimistic scenario)
If we can get a quarter final, i'll be quite happy.
If we get to that, everything will be possible.

When we talk about Turkey NT, pessimism = realism in 90% of the cases. With a team/coaching stuff/federation full of idiots, we should keep our expectations lower.
The worst thing IMO is, that our guys lack fighting spirit and most of them are with lower IQ than a jellyfish.
