i hope the Patriots could get Aquino or Wilson :)

yep, or any ABL team for that matter. the way I see it, this ABL will become a goldmine of national team talents in the future. i'd rather our young players develop their skills in ABL than in PBA. the reason behind that is obvious and glaring- ABL is more similar to fiba basketball.

Welcome to the Block party!!! Baclao and Elmer showed what they do best. love to see them block those imports. Brandon and ROb must be consistent.
Brandon is a hardworker and a great defender but sometimes he loves to force the issue that leads to nothing.. ROb is a big guy that can shoot the three but that is the only thing he can do on the offense.. Mirza is struggling right now, he is way better than that. Val Acuna had a fair first game but miss a lot of outside shots.. Baguion and Warren are very steady and playing great for us. Gaco is a husstle player but you can see that he is very undersized underneath the basket. Alas is a great coach, he maximize his advantage which is his bench.. i love the shuffiling of the players to get fresh feet on the court and the combination is great. Elmer is a perfect SF, he can shoot from the perimeter and can slash to the basket. i love the patriots. i love ABL.. i feel proud that we won.. its a strange feeling that you can't explain when you see Filipinos compete against our asian neighbors..

i have not watched any ABL game but i saw the highlights on star sports yesterday. the quality of play seems high calibre. yeah, i get that feeling too whenever our athletes fight for flag and ccountry. thats why i like the smart gilas to minimize the entry of fil-ams as much as possible as a lot of fil-ams play half-heartedly. besides, we already have the height. we just have to teach those tall guys the proper basketball positions.

If the singapore slingers are having a hard time winning games, does it mean the level of the game is like PBA's level?

I dont know man. but i doubt any present ABL team can beat a PBA reinforced team using the local PBA rules. That's a feat that even Asian Champion Iran can never accomplished at the Big Dome. the pba rules and refs will make sure of that.

the coverage was a disaster the 1st half was not even shown in espn the picture and sound quality was not good i thought i was watching a recorded game and in the 2nd half they put a sign 'picture as received" but it was an entertaining game Noy2x blocked 2 dunks attempt of the thai import. Brandon powell is not 6'5" noy is taller than his and he's only 6'4". even wainwright is taller than powell.

The graphics are disturbing. Scoreboard shows Phi/Pat and Thi/Tig and when there is a free throw they say the nationality of the person. Kinda lessens the national pride of these teams.

I think the coverage is a must first to improve.. I think ABL officials should look into this.. espcially that they are a new league and they want to be known around asia.. ABL is a great idea.. i love the home court advantage.. i love to see our players compete with diff players around asia.. hope taipei, korea, china, etc will join.. we will form the strongest team around.. and maybe Smart-gilas will be our regular team with giles..

some of ABL teams or maybe all after 2 years are level of PBA WITH IMPORTS..Definetly Slingers and PAtriots are same level with PBA teams now but ofcourse with imports..but if PBA teams also has 2 imports, its a different story.:D

first of all, imports are overated. pba teams have proven many times that an all-filipino team can beat an import-reinforced pba team. secondly, the professional leagues in other countries do not really distinguish imports from local players. it's only in the pba that you have an all-filipino tournament. you can't fault the abl teams for having imports.

you can say that jordan won against the philippines because of their naturalized player/import. but you can't say that the slingers demolished coke and smb just because of their imports because essentially, the slingers is a TEAM of composed of mixed nationalities. without those players, it does not become a team.

I watched the games on 5 and they have the same level as the Ligapilipinas teams.

no way the slingers are in the same level as the pba teams... even with import. if you are talking about the singapore slingers of 2008, maybe.....

ok. you may be right or wrong. but we'll never know unless they play in an official game. but it is written in the history books that the nbl's slingers demolished pba teams like ginebra and the abl's slingers in 2009 beat smb and coke in exhibition games

the burden of proof is now on the pba teams to prove that they are better.

as complete as dondon? none yet. but there are good shooters like gomez, rogado and cabahug. a player to watch is eliud poligrates. he's flashy, quick and he can break down the opponent's defense by himself. i think he'll play for ML in liga pilipinas after being banned from cesafi.

is he at least 6'2? man, i can't still forget dondon's crossover and dunk in one of his games in 1998 mba. he and (now patriots) wainwright were walking highlights of cebu gems then. both though were not good perimeter shooters then the way they are now.
