IMO JF IQ Basketball is high, defensively UC has a great disadvantage against the 3 teams in the final 4, but JF don't try to block every shot of the opponent just to make him look good its important for him to stay in the game to help in other factors.

The same goes with his offense we all know that he don't force his shots and usually takes high percentage shots.

By the way guys did you see his jolens layup aka Marlou este Don Ramon pala
yeah, those jolens layout using his right and left hand being ambidextrous.

Makes me wonder if he also has that elegant shot of El Presidente.
Maybe they should get Dicky Bachmann to train him to do the hook shot (although Mon can do some hook shots, Dicky got trained by dad Kurt).

Ohh that's interesting JF doing the elegant and hook shots

Is it too late to train Samigue Emman under Mon? Or that guy just does not have the same BBALL IQ of JF?

We just don't know if Mon is really that great a teacher or that the BBALL IQ of the student (Junmar) is just that high.

you are kidding me right? did you know that baclao was pick ahead of alhussaini coz yeng guiao wants to correct his attitude and not bcoz he is better than rabeh. :) common, you should know that fact. LOL at you, do you think ateneo will get these guys if they are not that good from the schools b4 ateneo? Baclao is a star in West Negros College Stallions before being pirated by ateneo, then JF, at 17, he just started playing basketball and only UC give time and effort to train him. now till me, who is the player who we can call a " from the scratch player " starting college?

ok fine, would baclao have been a potential 1st, 2nd or 3rd overall pick had he stayed?
that's what i am saying...ok so junmar already had 2 good years in the cesafi, then he should have jumped ship to better competition after that but he chose to stay. he should have followed the path baclao and slaughter took. i didn't say he should have went to manila straight from highschool but when he already was polishing his game, not learning it.

why would he go to manila? to sit out a year or two and be inactive at that time? please till me how baclao is doin in Petron even with a depleted line up, he can't buy a minutes coz he is not that good. he is just a good varsity material player but not as a pro. we'll see who will shine in the PBA, JF or GS? will see in 2 years time.

of course even if he would sit out a year or 2 he would still be training with the team and coaches. and the bottomline is that he could have had far better tutelage if he jumped ship...both in the form of better coaching and facilities.

so that is why baclao is rotting on the bench coz he is trained with a better coach and has much better facilities? LOL

lol. do you honestly think that having a better tutelage will make the player great even if he's not playing tough actual competition by actually playing the league for TWO YEARS? thats just ridiculous. :D

bottomline is junmar has a high hoop IQ. coming from zero basketball knowledge as a freshman in college to a refined, dominating post player - that says a lot

with a less training and exposure compares to the so called future basketball savior of our country!

haha..at least baclao is there, despite rotting on the bench...he wouldn't have a sniff of the pba if he stayed in west negros...much more become the first, second or third overall pick. imagine if noy hadn't gotten the training he did, how much worse would he be...

and "tough actual competition" means cesafi? lol...

You know, I would have agreed with killermebusy if I hadn't watched Junemar play ADMU, SBC and SSC. But he's got skills. He has a very high basketball IQ and a refined post up game. He never does more than he can (knows his limitations and his strengths) and is a good team player. He reads the game well and utilizes his dominating presence to free up his peers. You can really run an offense through him as he's not a black hole (READ: Hindi buwaya). As for him and Greg, I can say that he's much better than Greg offensively as his post up moves are simple yet effective. He knows how to use angles and has a mid range shot to boot. Plus he's ambidextrous and can use both hands to score. He's also a better rebounder than Greg. On defense, he's extremely smart and doesn't always go for the block. He knows that just by using his presence, he can often force the opposing player into a missed shot. Greg, on the other hand, is a poor rebounder for someone so tall. I don't care if he's being surrounded by 3 guys, Junemar faces the same thing but he still grabs more than 11 boards a game. What's frustrating with Slaughter is he's a poor rebounder for a Center. Still, on the defensive end, I think Greg is better. I guess I'm just impressed at how Junemar was able to make his team competitive against both San Beda (close loss) and SSC (dominating win). Yes they lost to Ateneo but their play improved against the 2 aforementioned teams when he started playing.

I agree with most of you here. Staying with Don Ramon, quite possibly the greatest PBA player of all time and league's greatest scorer, has done him more good than bad. For someone who only started playing basketball 5 years ago, he's extremely good. He only has to get stronger and more conditioned. Plus he has to improve his speed and quickness. Here's to hoping Alex English can whip him up some. Am excited to watch him play in the ABL.

Agreed with Noy. But Junemar's a different case. He's tall but it's not like he's a pansy. He still did dominate SBC and SSC and even with limited playing time against Ateneo, he still outplayed Greg by a thin margin even just for the 1 and a half quarters he played in. And with his talent? No way that kid doesn't get to play in the PBA.

Correct me if I am wrong....don't want to spend too much time back reading....

...were you the one that simply flat out stated before that Junmar is just hype and that he couldn't play well if he will be up against NCAA and UAAP teams? And someone here(i think capitantiago) invited you to go to Cebu to see Junmar play in the CESAFI?....

...expect other posters to disagree with you coz they see things differently. In fact I think most posters in this thread watched at least UC's games against Ateneo, SBC and SSC in the PCCL 2011. You should watch at least the PCCL semis games before judging Junmar as "playing catch up to GS"...

...a fair minded and unbiased person will summarily say that Junmar got game and not see the negatives that you are seeing...

...IMO you are just not giving enough credit to Junmar's game. Your posts show that you don't have any idea with what you are saying about JF--basketball years for one. I suggest you do some research first so your posts won't be laughed at by the other posters here

What I'd really like to see is how both Greg and Junemar fare in Top Class Asian competitions. As it is, both might very well get destroyed if they ever had to play Haddadi, Abbas, Yi, and Ha.

and "tough actual competition" means cesafi? lol...

well for two years he had GS up against him right?

do you seriously think sitting out 2 year will make him better than playing all those years in CESAFI?
