dudes it is not dinadaga anymore
he has been playing international ball for 5 yrs with gilas, in the pba for 3 if i am not mistaken
he just cant focus on what his role is, he just wants showtime dunks and awesome plays
even if he missed 6 assignments for him one dunk is good enough but it is not good enough for gilas to win and not for chot
we need him down low, if he cant contribute he will be in the dog pound again
come on japeth. just get us rebs and blocks and take care of the bigs of the other team
we dont need you to score, we dont want you to have showtime if that is what you are building your time inside the court with, just CONTRIBUTE

He has to realize that if he focus in rotating well, his blocks will come naturally because of his gift. And most of his blocks are so brutal that it usually leads to fastbreak and chances are, he will be the one finishing it with a dunk.

just by pure hustle and energy, he'll get maybe 4pts via tip ins, 2pts via dunk, 4-5rebs, 2-3blks. And when he's playing well, they are usually momentum shifters and not empty stats.

But then again, its been 5yrs and he has been handled by a lot of coaches. We already know that he can be shawn kemp today and Tyrus Thomas the next. Time to wait for the next athletic pinoy (kobe?)

Let him play his game. He's obviously overwhelmed by the moment. Last year, in similar circumstances, he played so damn well in FIBA when our other players were the ones getting pressured. He CAN do it. It's just all on him at this point. Step up or it's over. Last night, he played pretty good in his limited minutes. He was moving and rotating well and altering shots. He just needs to show he can do that consistently.

Problem with Japeth is his confidence, if only he had this consistent confidence for sure he'll get a consistent good result too. This is what separates him and JF.
JF ask for balls, even post no matter who's on him while Japeth just stands around, run around and wait for the time he'll get a pass.

IMHO, he just has to find his niche and understand that he needs to be a blue collar worker first. The minutes and showtime slams will eventually come or, in his case, come back. (the Jones Cup '09 Japeth)

we need the next RDO player.. probably not less than 6-6 with outside shot also...

Art Dela Cruz would have been a good replacement. He can shoot the three and is very tough underneath. He's a very good rebounder and has a wide array of shots like RDO.

Unfortunately, he's just around 6'4 I think.

I think people here are being too hard on Japeth. He's struggling right now, but that doesn't mean it's over for him. We'll still need him these last 2 games with our big men banged up. There's just no other way around it. I though he played hard in his limited minutes yesterday and was doing what he should: contesting shots and rotating. He'll miss a few here or there but the effort is there. That's what matters. That's what was missing the 1st 2 games. Anyway, we'll need him for the Asian Games anyway so there's no way around it. Am rooting for the guy because I saw what he did with Gilas last year live. And I know he's for real. He just has to trust himself more. Maybe it's all mental but he can do it.

Let me the first to say here that we could have used Japeth vs Puerto Rico. I have criticized his game but this was a perfect bounce back opportunity.
