Re up. The most controversial thread.

After Japeth's breakout tournament last FIBA Asia, critics turned to Junemar. Now after a good showing from Junemar, it's back to Japeth :D

Hope we can get good games from both of them though. Hope Chot is just hiding him for the winnable games.

all he has to do is defend his man, help defense and just rebound
enough of the dunks, jumpshots and chamba shots
he has to contribute or we cant make it through
all of them have to contribute bec of the level of competition
for japeth to have a good game he has to get a good first few mins and that will dictate his game
unfortunately he has been a liability instead of an asset
hope he does better tom

How many points, rebounds, block shots do you expect from him in less than 5 minute playing time?

If Japhet is reading this forum. He would get valuable comments from his fans.

Japhet, we hope to see you force your way and drive hard to the basket. dont be affraid to bang bodies. use your high leaping ability an advantage against the opponents and get those shots and 1.

Better to retire young and leave basketball. that you will be remembered as the greatest slum dunker freak power forward PBA has ever had. than retire later with mediocre style of play and slow becoz you are affraid to bang your opponents.

I hope so.:)

Whooooaaa....or it was only me..i thought Japeth Aguilar was not playing in FIBA cup in Spain. Behold, It was only during the dying minutes of our game against Greece that I took noticed of Aguilar when he managed to score for a tip-in.

You guys can kill me or bury me alive. Aguilar is no doubt can really leap high like a jumping spider and at 6'9" will dunk like a monster..and no one in the PBA can match his athleticism..but just like that, nothing more. He cannot be a great player in the PBA or at major FIBA tournaments or be like Samboy Lim or Jojo Lastimosa or Vergel Meneses or even a Nelson Asaytono. He lacks creativity or simply doesnt have the craft to create his own shots.

This is already a given. No one is expecting him to be a "superstar" anymore. We just want him to be very good role player at best (a la Pingris or even, Belga).

junmar has been contributing 2pt 2 rebs in a span of 2 mins
the bigs have to be active and contribute in anyway they can
how can he get the playing time if he is just wasting the time when he is in

How about 2 points, 2 rebounds and altered some shot in less than 5 minutes....is that useless or useful?

how about the 4 points from missed guarding and switching he had against Croatia hence benched after
the coach knows what he is doing and if a player is not contributing he will be riding the bench
you can put all the numbers but the way he is lost in the games he deserved to be benched
hopefully with his last putback from last game and the way junmar is playing will inspire him to be a factor today

Obvious last night, sobrang dinadaga si Japeth. A few gestures of encouragement could have served him well, since where the tough kind of mentorship wasn't working, a gear shift as such, could've provided. Oh, well!

He was not by any means mentally prepared to go to battle... quite baffling, maybe it's just his unique mental framework where at this point in time is still in need of further nurturing as fortitude has yet to set. At Gilas, unfortunately, he isn't getting it like the rest of the other members who in some way or the other may have had.

It's not a good feeling to always be looking over your shoulder shuddering at the thought of an early hook and the consequences of embarrassment, where his loyal detractors are always hanging with his every mistake and the festive mockery whenever he does-- add to that the inappropriate mental preparation that he is provided with, which tremendously could have helped tide over his hardships.

Definitely, is a hard patch in life and something that need be addressed in order to progress...it will probably not be a bad idea for him to dedicate his interest elsewhere at this point, since despite the obvious calling from all the gifts he's given, he continues to pedal in the muck.

last night japeth could've done a norwood (which means taking it strong and hard to the hoop) and no one from argentina will be able to stop him.
