Summer Signings and Rumours Thread vol. II

According to the same article from "sport5", Maccabi is tring to sign Massey from Real.
If it won't go, Lasme will be next.

Le mans needs to build a team with about 1M5 / 1M6 € (for both players and staff & i am not even talking about tax). We are a not such a big city that can compete with skyrocketting budget capital teams (or major cities at least). Signing a big name is about signing a 200k contract for this team (about 15k€/month). That's about same situation for roanne two years ago & nancy this season.

Asvel (lyon-villeurbanne) has about 4M€ for "sport salaries" this year.

But i am very glad to see what is doing asvel, hopefully they will be able to kick some ass in euroleague this year.

Anyway, not really the best topic to discuss about it, but we are perfectly aware about the current level of our teams & NT, thanks for you enlightenment though.

Boy, they just l-o-v-e players in position 4 who do nothing accept for shooting from the 3 point, don't they?
Then they made a bad choice with Printezis. He can be a threat if you leave him unguarded but no team can rely on his good shot from the line.
What they'll get is a guy that can jump high and fast and so get some points from offensive rebounds and make some blocks. That's it.

ps. About Parker, the money are always in $$. Oly says that they offer 6M $ for 2 years

Well, I think he can do better in NBA.

According to greek media, that would be net, meaning with the taxes in the NBA he should get aroun 8M $$ or more in the NBA to match that.
On the other hand, if you want to persuade a player to leave NBA you should give him a lot more than he could get in the league.

6M $ seems fair for Parker in general but I believe that if he gets 4-5M for two years in the NBA he'll stay

I love what ASVEL are trying to build. Borchardt, Lukauskis etc- those are true EL players, and that's what a EL club should bring, unlike other French clubs () in the past few years...

We try to do our best, but you obviously don't know the way it works in France... I wish we could play in the same category as the big teams, but with only 1.6M for salaries, you cannot take the bests. Look, Oly is talking about 3M per years for A. Parker, and we have only the half for all our staff and players !!! Amazing !!
Do you know a billionnaire who could be interested in giving money to Le Mans ? :D If yes, please contact me !!! :D

But we in France love euroleague and watch the other teams playing great basketball ! :)

What you say confuses me. Seeing the money you spend in football(not Premier League or Primera Division level but more than Greek League surely) I always thought that it was the luck of interest from the people that kept wealthy French businessmen from investing money in basketball.
From what you've say, the people are interested-at least in a level that would allows e.g. ASVEL to have a 5 million Euro badget. So why don;t you invest more money? If not for a F4-level team, at least for a team that could go into the Playoffs, like Efes or Roma.
Is there any legal limitation or something like that?
