I was just wondering when will SBP decide who will be the holdovers among the aspirants for their NT..they might have conflict with the PBA draft this coming off-season. let me sight a scenario, for example, what if a player who is part of the national training pool has an uncertain status within the final batch of the team would he be allowed to opt in joining the PBA draft this coming next season? there will be no security (financially) for a player if they don't make it to the cut of the final players for the NT, wherein SBP claims that they will be paid like pros. hopefully, the cut would be announced before the PBA draft so that the players who will be left behind may continue to pursue their bread-and-butter on the PBA.just a thought..

Can Ryan Buenafe cope up with the numerous practice sessions with the developmental team and with Ateneo considering he was reportedly struggling academically?
The same could also be said to Arvie Bringas because he will be an incoming college freshman next season.
boy .... you are not backreading the threads. It was already announced that majority of the players that was selected had opted to stay with the National Developmental Pool for the next 3-4 years. MVP has already promised Financial Packages that is commensurate to what the PBA is giving plus certain benefits that they'll give FOR ALL MEMBERS OF THE POOL. 2011 is still very far to make a final cut. So why go to the PBA draft when you can also earn the same way plus by playing for the flag you have the luxury of traveling all over the world for free. Since the PBA is not willing to loan their players after 2010 then the scenario of having a shallow draft for the next few years is something that they must bear. But at least after 2012, they could be sure the players in the pool are all star material when they graduate to the PBA.
Sir Nardy, does the Las Vegas started already? If it did, how was it? And what if we also look on our neighboring countries, like Japan(who is number 33 in the FIBA rankings), South Korea, Singapore?? I am just telling what is on my head. Because as far as I know, Filipinos are almost all over the globe now. So I hope we try our luck on looking to every known country as possible.
BTW, Advanced Happy New Year to all! Cheers!!!![]()
it's on April with Caloy Allado, Larry Albano and Jim Kelly still screening all those who are interested in joining.
I have actually sounded of tho several different agents, coaches and league operators around the world but we have not completely contacted all the Filipino communities around the globe. Do appreciate if we could spread the word to everybody out there. If you have contact info, we could facilitate it.
Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year too !!!!
MABUHAY ang TEAM PILIPINAS !!!!
is Norbert Torres part of this pool?...
So, Larry Albano is still around.
I recall him as our Coach in the 1983 SEA Games with Alfie Almario and Willie Pearson.
I wonder does these gentlemen work together in building our basketball program? I recall an earlier statement of former representative Prospy Pichay that he wants an all amateur team using European style of playing. Does anything ring a bell to you guys? MVP is now on the works of building an all amateur with Toroman as head coach (before the asian qualifiers) introducing the European style of play.
I think right now their rivalry is just for show, just for us Filipinos to get attention for the national team.
just my 2 cents worth.
i love to see this 2 gentlemen work together for the benefit of our national team.. with picay connection in the palace as well as his resources and add to that mvp's own connection in the businessmen in the country..
i see a well funded national team and plus the exposures they will get when they compete internationally under coach toroman..add to that connection is the pba..if they were not reluctant in loaning their player to the national team,we can send our best national team when we compete.. i mean best because it composed of amatuers with talent and heart plus the help of players coming to the pba.. and with the resources of pichay and mvp,we can shoulder the insurance money that the pba teams are asking for whenever they loaned thier marquee players

I don't trust politicians. MVP is the man.
