Who's the semi kalbo guy at the right of the picture? I think he's as tall sa Fajardo..

Alin dun? dunk sa nakaw offense?
I honestly don't like big men who do those kind of nakaw offense. I mean, he got lucky nanakawan ng lobo si paul lee..
I want to see rabeh do more of the 'willy wilson' plays inside the court, not enrico's dunks.
opinion ko lang..

we need all the big men we can get today. but come final 12 selection, i'll only pick one between junmar and rabeh-whoever's better.

if I am not mistaken he is one of the coaches of the Hong Kong National Team, Sung Fong who was their former Center and on record is 212 centimeters tall. In the 2001 FIBA-Asia, he was the one Yao Ming was guarding when Yao has to be taken to the locker room after a minor injury in that game where China routed Hong Kong 99-44.

i've always been a fan of patricia...she's really hot especially when she chews gum while interviewing a player

Patricia Hizon: So, what do you think is your game plan for the second half?

Jayjay Helterbrand: I think we're going to stop.. uhm.. What's the name? Barroca? He's killing us with his penetrations.. I'm so amazed with that young man..

He leaked out because he was the one who challenged the 3 point shot of val acuna. many coaches allowed their bigmen to do that especially in ateneo it will be too late for the bigs to go back to defend the paint anyway so why not gamble a bit...

just a question. we all know that smart gilas is busy with their schedule next year, but some of the boys will still play college ball like cawaling and ramos.

the uaap start its season around july..the gilas team are still probably in training during those month. so those guys will not complete the training schedule that is set? how about slaughter and fajardo? graduate na ba after this CESAFI season? or they will still play next year?

it might affect the selection of the team before the asian games.

the good thing with junmar is he's not as 'payatot' as japeth and not chubby as rabeh. toroman can mold him like clay. :D

what if eala was retained and barrios was not elected as pba commish?

Chot Reyes Wants Younger All-pro Cage Team

By Jasmine W. Payo
Philippine Daily Inquirer

Posted date: January 08, 2008

MANILA, Philippines -- A younger, all-pro basketball team may don the national colors as the country picks up the pieces following its failure to qualify in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Rookie guard Ryan Reyes of Sta. Lucia Realty, Talk ‘N Text’s Jay Washington and Alaska’s Sonny Thoss are among the new prospects for the RP men’s team that will seek redemption in the FIBA Asia Champions Cup in the United Arab Emirates on May 1.

“It will not be the same team,” said national team coach Chot Reyes. “Our thrust is to really go younger. Our national pool is still there, but everybody in that team knows they can be replaced any time.”

Asi Taulava, Danny Seigle and Eric Menk were among the seasoned PBA stars who suited up for the national squad that failed to clinch an Olympic slot after a ninth-place finish in the FIBA Asia Championship in Tokushima, Japan, in August last year.

“Everything we’re doing today is for the FIBA Asia Championship in 2009,” Reyes said of the event that will serve as a qualifier for the 2010 World Championship.

But Reyes said the fate of the squad will partly rely on the new PBA commissioner, who is expected to be named on Thursday.

“It’s hard to tell until a (new) commissioner gets elected,” said Reyes. “We have to discuss (with him) the national team as soon as possible. We have no problem with the SBP (Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas), we’ve been having constant discussions.”

The PBA board, composed of representatives from the 10 teams, will decide who will be the next commissioner between lawyer Chito Salud and telecommunications executive Lambert Ramos.

will chot's team be better than powerade or SG at this point in time?

it would not be a pickup system if you replace just 5 players with younger ones but retain the core and the system/coach.

powerade became a pickup team because the core and system/coach were replaced. even with holdovers from tokushima, powerade became a totally different team from that 2007 team.

it would've have been the best way for the pba to help the national team.

but the core would be old in that time and people will raise eyebrows why this superstar is not included or like that (that superstars are in 32's already)
its difficult some talented guys in the pba arent selected because of some called pba superstars:D:D:D

by 2010-2011, the core of the team will no longer be the same with the core in 2007. for example, the younger, new guys of 2009 will be the main men in 2013.

but the so called "palakasan system " of Noli Eala will come up here how come willie miller get his nt exposure by time his 32-33 and sonny thoss cant break the slot of asi, mick and menk that were 33's in 2007, now still the likes of jason castro et al will not break the slot because it will be given to the yaps, villanuevas, helterbrand or heck even alapag in 2010 how can you mold them if they will be only used in 2013 and there is no more room to improve

i think chot was given the freedom to choose his players. in my opinion, if he was still NT coach this year, he won't anymore get asi.

but the pressure the p[ressure from team sponsor fans etc
yes this system is good if we started a program gilas is doing if these guys turn pros they were just be picked up re orient them again for 4 moths add some young guys then compete if they get old in cycle of 7-9 yrs rebuild a new core again and so on
program is all we need not only in vbasketball but in all sports korea will never regain its glory with its style they using today so as japan

Rabeh any time of the week for the simple reason that Junmar hasn't proven anything yet here in Metro Manila where the country's best basketball is being played. For crying out loud, he hasn't been to any Smart Gilas practice yet. Talk about hype

who knows, bro? he could be a bust. but what if toroman likes him better? let's not judge yet. just because he is not playing "where the country's best basketball is being played" we should always choose players from the uaap/ncaa.

remember that the best pba player in history did not come from any uaap or ncaa team but from cebu's usc.
