do u understand why writers sometimes write in the 1st person point of view rather than the 3rd person to highlight a point. It's not even the sbp, but people who destroy the country s reputation through their actions, that's the point. I'm sorry if you don't understand what is the intent of why people wright in a different person view. Please learn the use of language better

i know my english very well. but do you know your overanalysis (and spelling, too)?

You do? Then. I wonder why you took so long to comprehend who I was referring to? Was it Hagop your 1st guess? Nope. Was it the SBP your 2nd assumption? No again. Wait have you figured it out already ? Geez

Tama na mga bata ^_^

Ryan Reyes = Marcio Lassiter

Reyes has two filipino parents, albeit he grew up in the US. When he was born, both of his parents held Philippine passports (this is according to what I've read here a few months ago, I believe it was from one of sir nardy's posts). They'll fight for Reyes' eligibility. If they deny him, then blood isn't the basis of Hagop's rule, which makes everything effed up.

And plus, Lebanon is looking to include Julian khazzouh, a legit nba d-league center with an Australian and Lebanese
descent. If he gets A thumbs up while Ryan doesn't, someone has to overhaul the rule book.

Agree. And I think this is what the SBP is closely looking at as its leverage. If Khazzouh is listed in the 24-man list of Lebanon, chances are the SBP will wait if FIBA-Asia will give him the green light to play. If he does, then Reyes will be inserted. But if not, Chot would probably look at other options if ever.

Thing is, if I were Chot, I'd really consider Reyes a shoo-in. If ineligibility issues arise, I'd put in Marcio (in a kind world). And if we were to have our way, we'd include both. It's like having lutz and Lassiter again. Besides Reyes, I don't really see other energy guys in the pool. Iba talaga eh, we need players who can also contribute off the stat sheet.

However, I don't think our organizational committee will allow Khazzouh, unless if the FLB pulls off an MVP move on Hagop.

these 7 (or 8 if pingris joins) plus some cadets should play the sharks. tnt, bgk, and alaska (plus smc just in case) national players need not join the exhibition vs sharks.

but d core group (without cadet) should play in d all-star game.

what's d news about d pba selection? chot did not ask for imports to reinforce d all-star team? sayang naman.

maybe a late news on adding a import.

5 more players that will be

1. Alas
2. Garcia
3. J.Pascual
4. R.Pascual
5. Ganuelas

Add Norwood and Chan to Gilas players that will be under Chot's watch for a long period. Now Chot can run 5 on 5 drills including some of the cadet players if he wishes to anyway it is summer time so cadet players are available and willing to go.

7 teams have qualified so far for the Fiba Asia Championships and 9 more teams will be slugging it out.

I see the elimination of RoS a blessing in disguise and I wouldn't mind having TNT eliminated as well for our national cause.

I am a TNT fan, but country for me comes first.

If the Mixers get eliminated as well (and I hope they do since I don't like the Mixers at all) then we would be able to get Marc Pingris some time to rest before going all out for Gilas. It would be huge if we could get a fresh Marc as he's been banged up the past few games. It'll give him more time to acclimate into the Gilas system as well. By all indications, it'll be an Alaska-TnT finals unless BGK can beat the TnT.

i am a bit on the edge on Jeff Chan.. he seems to have slowed down and his shooting is in a slump.. but the only player who can replace jeff is lassiter - and we know where that will go.. and Chot values players who have been with him since the start.. hoping he will have his sniping back!!!

if not Ryan Reyes is good to go for the 2 guard spot.. only if he is eligible.. he has reliable shooting from the wing 3 point area which is a good spot for kick outs from the dribble drive.. plus he is a very good defender.. and he is tough.. this would mean the other point guard slot will be battled out between alapag and tenorio since i think castro is a shoo-in.. we will have 2 players below 6 feet..

I think this is a great opportunity for the 7-8 pool members who are now available to start a fresh. Forget whatever failure or disappointment they have had recently (wether it’s a poor conference performance or not) All of the 7 anyway have at some point in their careers shown they are capable to merit consideration, it’s now all about putting it together at the right time. Chan might have shot poorly in the conference, that’s not to say he can't come in hot come August.

As they say you’re only as good as your last game, it’s quite feasible that Chan can be burning in the Jones cup this year, and people will forget this last conference , on the other hand someone like David or Reyes can shoot blanks in the Jones cup, and it won’t matter what “resume” they’ve accumulated in the PBA as Chot needs players who will deliver at the right time.

I personally would favor all 7 with the exception of Greg to make the final 12. That sends a strong message to the 7 , that Chot is commited to them. through tick and thin. you want guys who know they've got the coach backing who invest / prepare long term. All seven have that opportunity to "go all in "

I'm not a ROS fan neither BGK fan but I'm rooting for ROS last night game.
Watching last night game I told to my relatives that their last play should not be on Jeff Chan.
Then I'm happy to see that Paul Lee take that shot but unfotunately it miss and it fall on Jeff's hand and we all know what happened next.
What I'm saying is that unlike Yap, Caguiao and Baguio or even Simon you have that feeling that their shot will gonna fall in.
This is what I worry and hopefully chot already fixed this problem before FIBA Asia.

The good thing about the players who have been eliminated is that most of them haven’t really had much opportunity previously to play together or learn the DDO ( Marcus, Fajardo, Japs, Chan, Ping (assuming) etc). The extra time to be together to build cohesion will really benefit them. The remaining pool member which is mostly TNT players already have the familiarity of playing together using the DDO system. So they should be OK

Shouldn’t the 7 or 8 players together with 2 to 3 cadet members start full time daily practice with 5 on 5 scrimmages this Monday (April 29)? 5 to 7 days rest should do

fajardo slaughter // douthit alhussaini de ocampo // aguilar norwood dilinger // fonacier david reyes castro.

Ready for best of china iran jordan today. Lots of other good players. This team requires only a month of preparation. Excellent center two pf config against big teams. Big and fast forwards. Badass defense config. Alapag or abueva for david okay. 100 % guaranteed to excel and best use of bench.

Pang pusoy na to.

The Gilas 5 on 5 practices will certainly not be lacking in size. Imagine one 5 having Greg, Marcus, Chan , Lanete and Gabe facing the other 5 of Fajardo, Aguilar, Ping, David and Rosser. I don’t ever recall a local team practice that has that much size. This should really help improve our familiarity playing against bigger players.

But if one is to analyze FIBA rules regarding player's eligibility as according to Hagop's interpretation, a foreign born player has to lay claim of the citizenship of the country he wants to represent before he turns 16 years old. In the case of Ryan Reyes, there's absolutely no doubt that both his parents are Filipino by blood (as it has been reported), which also means that Ryan Reyes is 100% Filipino by blood. But the fact that Ryan was born outside of the Philippines, he is required to show proof that he laid claim his Filipino citizenship before he turned 16 years old, which of course is a big question. The fact that Ryan is 100% Filipino by blood is irrelevant with the FIBA rules "as interpreted by Hagop".

So for instance a player who was born in Senegal to a Senegalese parents became a Qatari citizen before he reached 16 years old, such player will be declared eligible by FIBA or FIBA-Asia to play for the Qatar national team as a local player.

Blood therefore seems not the issue.

I think sir Nardy has tackled this issue many times.

Do I find this FIBA rule illogical & irrational?

Yes, of course! Who doesn't?

Players that were not part of the 24 man pool should not be included anymore whether Lassiter or anyone else it is because the 24 players have been named already since the first week of March.

and i don't understand why some posters are still suggesting to include players other than the 24-man pool. or we can still amend it? can we already asked FIBA Asia to review the docs of Ryan Reyes to find out this early is he's eligible or not?
