SBP Long-Term National Pool (Vol. XX)

More than anything the “issue” with the previous thread tells me how serious the SBP is intent in getting Pringle. This is something to look forward to even while his availability is yet to be confirmed. Trust me guys Stanley will be a game changer for us. This is no Rosser we are talking about, Stanley is the real legit deal. No one who post those numbers for Pitt and Europe and is that well sought by leagues globally can be a bust. The only issue is not his talent but the time to get him familiarised with the rest of this teammates.

pardon my lack of knowledge re: Pringle's status (stubborn to backread). if he's having troubles playing for RP NT bec. of some FIBA policies, what about PBA? what are the chances, and if ever when will he enter the draft?

Immediate concerns are:
1) Contract with the Warriors at 3 years (need to buy-out and for how much) and
2) 2 conference play in the DLeague (Assuming PBA does not change their stance with ABL players eligibility plus of course...
3) His willingness to play in the PBA.

ya know the pba had this "you have to play 2 dleague conf (for fil-foreign) to enter the draft" rule

You'd be advised to back read, unless you want to be called names , just take it from me ;) and another thing don't get too nosy and simply post what you read. ;) You will understand why if you back read ;)

Stanley has been confirmed as a Filipino-American born in the Philippines already.

ha!

Gilas 1 -had better chances against ME and the bigger teams due to familiarity, system and discipline. Though this same system restricts players from taking advantage of individual match ups when it comes to smaller East Asian teams. That's why we all saw hard fought games even against the likes of Taipei and Japan.

Gilas 2 - Against the smaller teams, this team can easily beat them because of the talent level and individual brilliance. But has a harder time against the bigger teams because the height and heft of the opponents overwhelm us.

Definitely agree with the assessment. Game style definitely dictates a lot in the match-up. BUT this NT has to be tested against taller opposition before we say though that Gilas I had the advantage there. After all, we just played 5 games total..

Not sure if it's politicking-- if it is, that's acceptable. What i can't take is that your suggestion is... corny :D (Not much of a fan of nicknames starting with Black "blah-blah" :D)

why does it have to have the word "black" word in it? thats just racist. im not a fan of nickmanes in general.

A BIT OFF TOPIC:

Yup nicknames are corny like Sonny "The Boss" Thoss? and at the same time in the current Jones Cup Thoss is not playing like a "Boss" at all.
"Big Game" maybe I can accept but the " The President" I just mute my TV volume. Well their are nicknames that are far less corny like "Big J" oh well if I think about it
almost all nicknames are corny:)

And " The President" that really did it for me. You don't like "Black Spider.. How 'bout Black Brown Spider...nevermind.

Agree most of them are corny-- the best ones comes naturally...

How about calling him Gabe? ;)

Even with the failure of Gilas 1, I still have yet to see a REAL LONG TERM Grassroots Program like this:

If we really want to hone our prospective future stars then I want to see guys like Ravena and Teng playing in international games whenever they can alongside other talented players like Amer.

they are busy playing for their schools,..nowadays, not only PBA teams barr their players playing for the country, NCAA/UAAP also getting the trend. National team are the least priority.

Parker also played from October to April (sometimes June) the last decade. Your point?

Which is why Philippine basketball will not go anywhere no matter how many talented players we have compared to the powerhouse countries in Asia.

Yes our 2nd or 3rd or 4th unit can beat their 2nd unit easily but what's the point if our 1st unit can't face their 1st unit?

Other countries also have players playing professionally, in schools locally or abroad (NCAA) but this is not stopping them from having a successful NT program. If other countries can do it, why can't we? Other countries can mix business, academics and national pride but somehow we can't.

I guess Pinoys are just naturally more selfish and way less patriotic compared to other nationalities. There's no other explanation.

yeah,..this is a bit off topic,

WNBA paused their games just to give way for USA womens olympic team, Can PBA, NCAA, UAAP do that? just for our national team? no,..lots of money will be wasted if they do that.

.

I think this notion that we are more talented than our rival Asian counterparts is no longer true. Probably at best our guards are more talented. but from the small forward to Center spot the disparity is huge. Our Asian rivals are signiificantly more talented than us . You take out Doulthit and we would be lucky to have any of our big men ranked in the top 30 Asian big men

that fact was already proven way back 2007

This is why the players in the PBA teams must get bigger, as they did in the last draft. The public love for the Lanting Security Agency, sorry, BGK will always be there. Unless the much bigger teams like Petron, Bmeg and Meralco consistently crushes the 15-guard system of BGK, the skillset and popularity of big men in the PBA may not improve that much. BGK is still very popular despite the desultory presence only of one or two centers and forwards.

Just look at the difference in approach. S Korea sent a lot of very tall boys for the U18 whether they are good enough or not, as China always had. You will never expect the Philippines to do this ever.
