Turkey is playing really well but Italy is terrible on difense (even Island would score 80+ points against this defense!)...

Muhammed Ali :D 13 points, 4 assists

Italy has no defense at all. This team must score 85 points to win against top 10 teams.

If Ilyasova gets his 4th foul very quick in 3rd quarter, the game is over for Turkey.

Our defensive pressure is not functioning that well. İlyasova's foul trouble is a big disadvantegous for us. We need to be careful in defense and should control the turnovers.

Ersan got the third faul and the team lost momentum there is no reliable back up pf spot he need to be careful second half without we gonna confront a problem.

Italy can shoot and make them until forever, we should not gamble on that.

with Guler and Ersan on bench, we look like B-division team. :/ And I'm really surprised at Cedi Osman's continuing habit of completely uncontested missed lay-ups.

Turkey has 2 different teams in the same game. Turkey with İlyasova can compete with the bests, Turkey without İlyasova is equel with Estonia.

88-86, 8.6 sec to go, and Italy's possession. Let's see if we'll gamble this time. I'd forgive if we do :)

Edit: We did not gamble... and went for a less likely scenario... foiuled the 13/13 FT shooter.. don't like it. at all.

Edit: it worked. Gallinari missed his only FT of the game :)

The science of statistics run again.

14/14 FT by Gallinari. And he finally misses in 15th

Turkiyeaaaaaaaaaaah beats the most powerful Italy team with the weakest roster

If we had Kanter for this match, we would have won at least 25+ points difference,Italy has noone to defend the paint and they are really weak at rebounding.

Yeah I thought about the same. He could have easily scored 35+ against this Bargnani.

Italy must cut Bargnani's minutes as much as possible in order to get success. This man is just a ghost in defense.

yeah suprise me, because why not? i didn't believe in this team, i still don't believe in this team but we will see. anyway GJ! great start!

I really don't see Italy getting anywhere, ever. Congrats to Turkey.

Nice win for Turkey. One of the better teams in this tournament at this stage. They seem in good shape as a team. A win helps keep the chemistry going.

As much as I hated the non-call of Kanter for its reasons, I think with him in the roster, we would also allow +20 points. Still, would be a great alternative, esp as the tournament progresses.

Italians have amazing offensive talent, and almost won the game only by that... but then you know it's not gonna end well when you let Erden score 22 points... most of them being dunks.

Quite a nice surprise for me personally, thank you our team, and thank you Italy for making it happen :D

after 58 years (or something like that) we beat italy for the first time! interesting info...

Its FIBA basketball not NBA, theres no athletic wing players to drive the basket and no defensive 3 sec rule , offensive bigs will always dominate in the FiBA,athletic shotblocking type bigs suits better the NBA basketball, with alone Kanters offensive rebounding we would have easily won, whos gonna defend Kanter on italy ? freaking Bargnani ?
