MAJSTOREX you really need to wake up. Our team has lost yesterday's game, but so what? They didn't lose it for some obscure reason - they fought hard and tried their best. In the end, it could have gone both ways. Anyone claiming otherwise obviously didn't watch the game.

And calling Slovenia chokers for yesterday's defeat is the most absurd claim I have heard here. I do not even know where you get this? From one (that's O - N - E) bad ending 2 years ago? Ridiculous!

Motivation? Well, I think that Slovenians got bigger motivation, being that they have never won a medal before. But only maybe.

well ur wrong there is no motivation left. lets face it we are losers with a capital L. I wont even go to the choking part:eek:

Is the Greek guy any good? He is assistant coach... don't know much about him.

But, hey... Juri is the best of the best!

I dont know about the greek assistant. Never saw him before in our NT until zdovc took over it. He analizes opponents, he probably does a good job.

Yesterday we didn`t choke - Teodosič just happened to us. But we have earned the title of chokers fairly. 2 losses against Izrael in deciding games, loss against France in 99 (we lead by 17 in the third), loss against Latvia in Turkey, after the amazing win against the home team, loss against Latvia in Sweden (we lead by 17 in the second period), loss against Germany in the quarters in 2005( we stopped Nowitzky, but then Roller happened) after beating the Greece and France in the group stage, loss against China in WC (an unknown Chinese player scoring 3 or 4 3pt shots in last minutes including buzzer shot at the end), then loss against young Turkey in 1/8 final of the same WC (virtually unknown young turkish player scoring 4 3pt shots in last minutes including the buzzer shot and finally the mother of all chokes - loss against Greece in 07.
Teodosič shouldn`t be judged by his performance against Slovenia, afterall anyone who has ever thrown a basketball can hit 3pt against Slo in the last moments of the game. The first person to have missed a buzzer shot against us was actually the Turkish player three days ago - I couldn`t believed my eyes, when that happened.

So what happened in 2006 when we had a full roster and Spain played without their best player?

In 2006 we have presented the best Greek team ever. And you know very well that we have beat Lebron JAmes and his company in the semis. Isn't this enough? The run and gun games presented by Kazlauskas are very nice with the right opponents. With Spain you don't play like that. Now about the game vs Turkey it was Spanoulis play and not Kazlauskas coaching. Also why he insists so much on Perperoglou? This guy is sucks. Giannakis is by far better coach. Ok had a bad game in 2006 final but in the semis won the U.S.And in 2007 could have won Spain in their home. So please i don't know if you are a PAO fan, but is a disgrace to say these things about Giannakis. He is a legend as a player and as a coach, Kazluskas is a good coach but not so good to coach a huge team like Greece. This is my opinion.

Fisrt, I am completly awake. Our team lost any you say so what? You must be more critical somethimes. I dont even wanna go there, how much has our "so what" mentality cost us:mad:. And im realy gettin fakin tired with the way thinkin: if someone slaps you, be nice turn the other side of face to him so he can slap you again. The less of this thinkin the better for us Slovenians. thats why there is so few of us left and our country on the map looks like a badly eaten hamburger which all our neibhours got a bite at.
Yes it could have gone both ways but it didnt.
Maybe we come to WC in Turkey with 12 active players.
Ofcourse we choked what else happend when the lead 1min to go was blown.
To tell you the truth, I think we dont stand a fakin chance to get to QF at WC.
Remember us losing to New Zeland:eek:

erhmm.. actually..it is the PAO fans the ones who always compliment and support Yanakis coaching carreer.:)
The Oly fans are always negative and ungrateful!!

The Loser (with capital L) here is you, who can't admit our opponent has beaten us fairly. By saying we didn't play well you are also saying Serbia didn't beat us fair and square.

i like slovenia. slovenians are very nice people except their politicans. my favourite country :) the only croatian neighbour with whom we never fight war :D so I'll cheer for them to beat FTR of Greece

i dont know about Kazlauskas and even if he did mistakes on coaching i wont judging yet but Yannakis is simple a good at best coach.Nothing more. And i am saying this before OLY times. This will be proved again this year.Remember my words

what a shit are you talking, man?
i dont argue that Panahiotis was great player, but to say that right now he is better coach than Kazlauskas or any other......... maybe he will be better, but now... what Gianakis won with OLY? NOTHING. one more time, NOTHING. look what squad he had, and NOTHING. look at what squad he will have next year, and again, he will win NOTHING.
won against USA? Greece wasnt the only team which beat USA in that tournament... in the other hand, as you mentioned - it was best GReek team ever. Give those players to Kazlauskas, and today Greece would be playing in final. without 3 starting five players your country playing in bronze final, and you have something against Kazlauskas???? 2 years ago, in this bronze final with Diamantidis and Papaloukas Mr.Gianakis lost it against Lithuania.
and Sofoklis... Gianakis maybe for last 4 years was coach of him, and there were not any season that this player had such results as he has in this tournament.
you know what happened if Gianakis would be coach of this team? Greek team would be in place, where now is France team.
who is Gianakis as a coach? he is basketball destoyer. not great defence specialist as you think, but basketball destroyer

p.s. ok Perperouglou. so who should play in his place? it was easy job to decide for your god Giannakis, when had Diamantidis and Papaloukas in the squad..
p.p.s. huge team.. Greece at the moment is huge team??? wake up man, you have no bench!!! only sometimes Sofoklis could replace starting five player. need to remember that till now, he was zero in Giannakis teams. the only huge team in this tournament - Spain. and maybe Serbians because they put all their heart in every game
goodluck Greece tonight

go slovenia bring the title home

well im sorry guys beside destroying things this is how i show my dissapointment.

i-can-has-cheezburger.jpg

exactly:D

well that's maybe correct my neighbour Majstorex Croatia had very hard days in history, everybody wanted to get what is ours (like slovenia nowdays), but correct too is a sentence from famous director Emir Kusturica that only culture Slovenia ever had was making frigiders ;)

1) The U.S after 2004 has lost just once. Against Greece in 2006.
2) Kazlauskas when was coaching Oly was a joke.
3) Big Sofo was in a very bad situation in 2007 and 2008. This year was much better but KAzlauskas didn't achieve anyhting serious.
4) The rise of Papaloukas and Diamantidis and moreover Spanoulis was completely based on Giannakis.
5) THE GREEK TEAM IS ALWAYS A HUGE TEAM, whatever squad represents.
6) Why Diamantidis and Papaloukas didn't play this year? If we had Giannakis they would be there as most of the Spanish players. The truth is that they don't consider KAzlauskas a big coach such as Giannakis.
7) Personally speaking, I think we need a much better coach that Kazlauskas. His tactics are poor. And I hope he will not manage Greece tonight as he managed the last friendly game we had against Slovenia.

it would be fair that slovenia wins the bronze. geeks were very lucky to even be here!
I certainly do agree with you UKO!!! The problem is how to achieve this. Fairness is too little to rely upon (don't forget the Greek Lobby and all it is up to) for something as crucial as this. More drastic (not to mention fair) measures are needed. Here are two suggestions:

1. Petition FIBA to introduce handicap bball. What this means is that just before jump ball the scoreboard shows something like Slovenia 20 - Greece 0 and points are counted from that point onward with the possibility of another adjustment at half time should it be needed. I know for a fact that Spain will support the idea.

2. Score switching. If at the end of the game a fair result has not been achieved, amends can be made by switching the names Slovenia and Greece on the score board. Once again Spain should be in favor.

Now do take the above with a grain of salt, if you know what I mean ;) and don't get upset. May your team (which looked much improved this year) play well and score a deserving victory and get the bronze. But no matter what I may wish you and you would like to see, in the end it will not matter. How many times Greece will put the ball through the hoops compared to the same for Slovenia will determine the issue with utter disregard for fairness! So go watch the game, cheer for your team, and ,if possible, enjoy yourself in the process!

By the way, how did you get to the conclusion that Greece is lucky to be here? Is it based on some analysis that I missed or is it a sideways expression of the wish "I don't like to see Greece in the medal rounds ever again?" But if not Greece, then who, based on the existing draw of groups and other team results? Please explain.
