Another option is for Giles to be allowed to return to the Smart Gilas roster but their games reduced to tune-up matches and whose results would have no bearing in the tournament.

Is this one of Alvarez bright ideas again? So that when Smart Gilas starts to win games the PBA can brush it aside and say its no bearing for them?

“Giles and two other key Smart Gilas players (Rabeh Al-Hussaini and Chris Tiu) didn’t play against Talk n Text which is practically a sister team. It would be unfair if they play full force against the other teams,” said a league governor refusing to be identified.

I guess this is the same governor who was insinuating that the SG-TnT game was fixed.

PBA to decide fate of Giles, Gilas 5

C.J. Giles
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Basketball Association is likely to bar C.J. Giles from playing for Smart Gilas for the rest of its guest stint in the KFC Philippine Cup after the top prospect for naturalization missed two games in the ongoing conference.

Another option is for Giles to be allowed to return to the Smart Gilas roster but their games reduced to tune-up matches and whose results would have no bearing in the tournament.

The PBA board has drawn up these options as Smart Gilas remains uncertain when Giles would return after going back to the US to attend to his ailing four-year-old son Jaden.

PBA commissioner Sonny Barrios will decide on Giles’ fate before the Smart Gilas-Coca-Cola match at the Cuneta Astrodome on Nov. 6.

“It’s up to the commissioner, but I think the Smart Gilas’ matches will continue to have bearing on the team standings. We’ve beaten them in a game where we lost our team captain for the rest of the season. It’s a costly game and it’s one win already for us,” said PBA board chairman Lito Alvarez.

Giles played against Burger King before sitting out their next two games against Talk n Text and Barangay Ginebra.

“Giles and two other key Smart Gilas players (Rabeh Al-Hussaini and Chris Tiu) didn’t play against Talk n Text which is practically a sister team. It would be unfair if they play full force against the other teams,” said a league governor refusing to be identified.

Meanwhile, reigning champion Talk n Text, unbeaten in three starts, faces an acid test today as it clashes with Fiesta Conference titlist San Miguel Beer in the KFC Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Tropang Texters and the Beermen figure in a duel of champions at 7:30 p.m. succeeding the 5 p.m. tiff between Barako Bull and Rain or Shine.

The Texters, toughened up by a series of overseas training during the off-season, have been impressive in the early goings of the all-Filipino tourney, winning their first three games by a whopping average margin of 19.7 points.

But coach Chot Reyes and his chargers themselves expect a tough fight against the Beermen.

“We’re on a good start largely because of our defensive efforts, but I guess the real proof of our defensive pudding is our next game,” said Reyes referring to their game against the Beermen.

The Beermen, still in the process of gaining chemistry with their re-tooled lineup, have just nailed their first win in the tourney, drubbing the Burger King Whoppers, 117-95, last Wednesday.

San Miguel lost its first two matches to Barangay Ginebra and Alaska Milk.

What is this...OMG....This really sucks..Dami reklamo..Just win the damn game

do the governors have heart? are they thinking? do they have children? what if that happens to their children? what if they're in the same shoes as CJ do? for god sakes, its a matter of life and death for the son of giles. come on governors. you'll do the same thing as giles do. gheezz.

as for miss game for rabeeh and chris tiu, you governors have mind? rabeeh is still the studying as same goes with others. chris is just injured, you dont think of that? want proof? go and ask chris let him bring you to the nearest hospital or ask their trainer and his coach itself. its just they miss the game its consider looting games for other team like TNT to win the game? no bearing games? i dont know what will TNT and bgk will have to say about that.

the question is: are they really helping the national team cause or just plain publicity for them and pretending they're helping the national team of smart gilas because ghheez. do think and be sensitive enough to the issue guys of governors.

Hahayz another good reason why I shouldn't watch any PBA games..

This is all BS.. So they don't want competition ehh?? They are just desperate..

Alvarez is so smart! He wants the Gilas games still counted in the standings coz they won against them.. What if they lost??

Gilas' situation is just the same when a PBA team has their stars injured and once they're okay, they can play again.. Like what BGK is experiencing.. What's the difference?? Are they insecure with Gilas?? They have proven they can beat them in their game so why do this??

Like I said, this is all BS..

Like I said, this is all BS..

bcoz they know if a complete roster of Gilas with Giles plus the addition of Greggyboi and Fajardo will thrash any PBA Teams if given time.. they will demolished a PBA team in any given night.. the other Team should ask Yeng,Chot and Jong how come they beat Gilas..ahhaha I think the Realtors is behind this? I remember their coach dont want to count the Gilas game bcoz Gilas got import and so on...

hahaha...

gilas getting better more experienced and having a complete lineup will be difficult for any pba team to beat.

so this means that some people in the pba think that gilas lost their first three games because they did not play full strength and fixed that game against TNT???

someone is insecure.

and they(PBA) are doing stupid things to the NATIONAL TEAM.. oh my gosh..wait 2 secs to reload the image

and to think during the first half Gilas vgive a scare to Ginebra now they are thinking what if those shots went in! if PBA is really that good they should not do this, they should be ready to battle Gilas with Giles..

Okay this is plain publicity I did not believe pba do not know these scenarios situations before they let gilas to be their guest team:D

eventually, what the PBA is doing would backfire and explode on their faces at some point..just wait..

the reason behind the pba's plan is understandable but funny :D

it's ok though. giles will not get much experience from battling undersized centers. he might as well focus on his personal problem. this would give playing time to the other big men of gilas especially when slaughter (and possibly fajado) joins the team. its better if giles play but its not a major problem if he does not.

looks like alvarez wants to get back at smart gilas for arboleda's suspension.

I guess this is the same governor who was insinuating that the SG-TnT game was fixed.

this is pure nonsense .... what can GILAS do, Chris is really injured while Rabeh was sick at that time. On CJ, it is a management call to bench him as he was not focused at the time. This is terrible, so this is what they call helping out the National Team. Now if the GILAS recovers from its slump and play much better then beat the remaining teams, they find it unfair to the said teams. It's as if they are encouraging GILAS to keep on playing badly.

These people running the PBA right now are dragging the organization to the gutters. And just to think they are asking why the PBA is not as popular as before. If they push thru with their plan to ban CJ from playing anymore or turn the games of GILAS to no-bearing, I feel the SBP should re-think again if it's really best to still continue participating in the PBA. I cannot accept the insinuation that these young team are fixing their games.

But if ever they do continue to play, this would be a good opportunity for the other bigs to shine. Let's see what would be the next reaction of the PBA once GILAS recovers their bearing and wins its next few games. What's next ..... they'll ban Greg and JunMar.:confused::confused::confused:

Surely there are other options, Shaun Pruitt (or another import), why not get him on interim basis, so in the event Giles backs out, the SG won't be back to square one. Even if Giles comes back, it is wise to keep the other import in case the other one is injured.
