PBA Governor’s Cup - 39th Season [2013-2014]

Also Guiao is a politician as well. He seem to like being in the opposition at all times. :)

Yup...no different from Pringle joining the league after finding out GP "won" the lottery.

Yeng's real target is not Pringle or the top overall pick. His target is Salud. For the past couple of seasons, Guiao took it upon himself, even to the point of losing a million or so, to question Salud's control of the PBA. Right or wrong, Guiao felt that their team has always ended up as the aggrieved party in most of Salud's decisions while unwittingly claiming that one party has been the beneficiary at their expense. Guiao's system has never been known to rely specifically on an individual talent, proof positive of which is the amount of playing time he gives his marquee players.

On the other hand, whatever mistakes the PBA commits is brought to the public attention by Guiao. He acts as the foil, the antithesis of the institution, and relishes this role. Guiao has lashed at past Commissioners - Eala and Barrios, so it's not that he's nitpicking. Like it or not, what Guiao has done, particularly in bringing to everyone's attention how sloppy and suspicious the PBA lottery was, will have long-term positive effects to the PBA. Salud's admission and subsequent public apology resonate deeply and the Commissioner knows that he's at the receiving end of a terrible backlash.

In fairness, Salud's apology was the right move for him. Note though that he's now on the defensive, and is falling into the trap of Guiao's weaving. Will Salud's credibility and integrity be undermined after all these? Perhaps...or maybe not. The apology stymied this and it came at a perfect time. But it did put Salud under the microscope - and for the first time in his PBA Commissioner's career, he's getting battered all over.

This is one aspect of Guiao's character I really like - not afraid to speak out what he sees as irregular/illogical/impractical actions done by even the most powerful or influential personalities or organizations (the PBA in particular), whatever the repercussions may be. Coach Tim Cone used to be like that before he transferred to the SMC umbrella.

Say anything about coach Yeng- that he's hot-tempered, loud-mouth, volatile, arrogant, speaks profane languages & words much more than anyone else, but I think Guiao is a man of principle. He may be a politician, but I think Guiao's personality hasn't been completely stained by the dirt of politics. I think as an ordinary PBA fan who wants nothing but the betterment of the PBA & Philippine basketball, this basketball-crazy nation needs somebody like a Yeng Guaio.

The process or procedure was done in a cheaply fashion but there is no bulls@t going on there. Yeng in his typical politician style..pinersonal si Salud as if to send a message across. I dont agree with some of saluds decision like the lopsided trades and his seemingly lenient attitude on Pingris. But accusing him of fixing the draft is childish. Well, what else do we expect from yeng....pati player nga pinapatulan.

Franchise fee is 100million , draft lottery materials only costs 20pesos. Yeng Guiaos reaction = Priceless

San Mig Coffee edges ROS 78-66 to take a 2-1 series lead. What a lousy game for ROS. No intensity and urgency to win the game.

Could have been a sweep! Grandslam has to wait. lol

ROS is a one-man show. Arizona Reid is a fantastic import. He rightfully deserves the best import award for this conference, but I don't think he can do it alone. I think Belga was the next leading scorer for ROS with 8 points. Sangalang was clutch in the 3rd period. Giving SMC the cushion to finish the game.

In the first two games for ROS it has only been Chan, Lee, Gabe, and Belga who have scored in double digits. Reid was the lone double digit scorer in Game 3.

Chan - 4 pts
Norwood - 2 pts
Lee - 2 pts

Guiao cant blame the refs nor Salud's hands this time...

Salud is simply full of sh*t. Even small companies conduct more legitimate raffles in their annual Christmas parties! Hell, the DTI would void any promos conducted this way. How can we expect less from Southeast Asia's premier basketball league?

Maybe someone should do some research on what Cheato was doing before the Jun Lozada scandal broke out some years ago.

San Mig Coffee is on the verge of a historic grand slam. They currently have two former college MVPs on their roster; James Yap (UAAP MVP) and Ian Sangalang (NCAA MVP). The 1996 Alaska grand slam squad also had two former college MVPs; Johnny Abbarientos (UAAP MVP) and Kevin Ramas (NCAA MVP). The 1976 and 1983 Crispa grand slam team had 3 college MVPs; Philip Cezar, Atoy Co and Freddie Hubalde (all NCAA MVPs) while the 1989 San Miguel Beer grand slam team had Samboy Lim as a former NCAA MVP.

redraw is not necessary since the odds of Global Port being picked is obviously greater than ROS,

I understand ROS. If a player like Pringle, who is an import-level player and is included in the draft, you'll definitely want to get him. And you' definitely want an honest draw at this moment.

The question now is, if ever there is a redraw and ros happen to be the winner of the 1st pick will pringle push for his draft application?

It was crude, but wasn't "dishonest" unless proven otherwise.

Where will he go? Back to a third tier league like the ABL? And he must be excited playing for a coach like Yeng too ;) (Better prospect that playing with the always-rebuilding Global Port squad)

I bet he doesn't stay a year in Global Port.

A possibility. Mikee Romero says he wants to build a champion team. And he said the same thing before he sold Aguilar, Lassiter and maybe a few others i am forgetting to SMC.

lassiter played for powerade under baylon not with romero.
