Yeah, Varejao has really proved me wrong when I said he wouldn't improve much this year. He's doing a fantastic job for Cleveland and he's really picking up when Big Z is out. It's wonderful because his production comes without dominating the ball.

Nenê matched his career-high with 28 points, adding 9 rebounds and 4 steals as the Nuggets beat the Jazz.

Nene truly is a warrior. For someone to come back after suffering from cancer and proving himself amongst the elite of players again with such stats is really amazing.
I think Nene now has a different perspective on how he sees things and he appreciates everything in life much more. Moreover his life is emotionally stable and with such a hot chick as Lauren Prothe on his side whom he's going to get married to next month, he sure has all the support he's going to need ;)
(reminds me of Marko Jaric when he first started dating Adriana Lima, where he was having a career season :D)

If the Brazillian Federation can get Barbosa, Nene and Varejao to the NT plus splitter, alex..... they can surely make some noise in this year's FIBA americas

Absolutely. As far as talent goes, Brazil is right with Argentina. The problem is that the players just haven't been very interested.

It's somewhat motivated by the players relationship with the national confederation (CBB). The current president is there for over 12 years now and everyone is crying for some change. There will be a new election in may this year, let's hope Gerasime Bozikis (Grego) gets dethroned and Brazil''s national team will have a better organization.

I won't take the responsibilities completly away from the players. They should put their country above all and play for the national team. Anyway, this are rough times to be a basketball player in Brazil, but things are slowly changing and I see a very bright future ahead.

Phoenix lost the game against Chicago, but Barbosa had another fantastic night. 32 points in 32 minutes.

As nba.com says, fun and gun is back! It's beacause of new coach Gentry.
Phoenix beat desperate LA Clippers 140-100.

Leandrinho Barbosa scored 24pts (FG 9-12, 3PT 3-4) + 7rebs + 5as + 5stl in less than 28 minutes!

That's great!! Barbosa is like a little rabbit on the court. He's so quick. It'll be a delight to watch Phoenix play like this again.

Denver 54 Chicago 54 - Half Time

Nenê with 17 points in a 8-10 from the field.

Let's see how he will end this game.

Looks like he only scored 19 points for the whole game. He went 1-7 in the second half. Usually when that happens, it means that the other team (Chicago) completely changed their defense while the first team (Denver) continued trying to do the same old thing. Unfortunate. But still, that's not a bad game for Nene!

But Brazil's other Western Conference player had a better night!!!

Barbosa’s 41 lead Suns past Thunder, 140-118
- February 20, 2009, by Bob Baum, AP

Leandro Barbosa started in place of injured Amare Stoudemire and scored a career-high 41 points Friday night to lead the Phoenix Suns to a 140-118 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder...

Barbosa moved into the starting lineup after Stoudemire underwent surgery Friday to repair a partially torn retina in his right eye.

The speedy Suns guard also had seven assists and tied his career best with six steals...

Gentry decided to go small with the All-Star power forward out, inserting Barbosa at guard, shifting Richardson to small forward and Grant Hill as the starting power forward.

Barbosa made 16 of 21 shots, 5-of-6 in the fourth quarter. He was 5-of-7 on 3-pointers...

Not good news for Nenê.

Nuggets F Nene out two weeks

DENVER (TICKER) —Denver Nuggets center Nene is expected to miss at least two weeks with a right knee contusion.

The news was announced after Monday’s 114-76 loss to Boston - the Nuggets’ second-worst home loss in 33 years.

An MRI did not reveal any structural damage and confirmed the team’s original diagnosis of a bone bruise.

The Brazilian suffered the injury in the final minute of Sunday’s contest in Milwaukee when he banged knees with Bucks forward Richard Jefferson. Nene, who had 17 points and seven rebounds in 33 minutes before leaving.

Nene is Denver’s fourth-leading scorer, averaging 14.9 points and a team-high 7.9 rebounds in 55 games this season.

Johan Petro started in place of Nene on Monday, registering nine points and 10 rebounds in 21 minutes.

“The one big plus is he shows he has the skills to be on an NBA court,” Nuggets coach George Karl said.

Sounds like a pretty bad bruise. That hurts considering his knee problems in the past, but Denver should be able to survive two weeks without the big man. Look at Boston without KG right now!

Suns' Leandro Barbosa out 1-3 weeks
Suns guard Leandro Barbosa will miss one to three weeks with a bone contusion in his left knee, according to the Arizona Republic.

Barbosa suffered the injury during Wednesday night's game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Wednesday's X-ray exam was negative and the guard also underwent an MRI.

Suns head athletic trainer Aaron Nelson said Barbosa did not suffer any ligament damage but the MRI did show a bone contusion, the newspaper reported.

Barbosa is averaging 14.3 points and 2.4 assists this season.
