The Miami HEAT getting some redemption and more importantly gaining the second seeding on the coming Eastern Conference as they rout the Boston Celtics 100-77, lead by LeBron James who scored a team high 27 points.

LeBron James reacted when a reporter asked a question about the direction of the Cleveland Cavaliers where the reporter referenced Cleveland as "your team, your city".

James said:

"It wasn't my city. It wasn't my team either. I was just a player, you know, I helped get that franchise to leaps and bounds that they haven't seen before.

"But there were players before me - Mark Price, Larry Nance, Brad Daugherty and guys way before me. The city was not built on LeBron James."

LeBron James Downplays "Retarded" Comment - Boston Herald, May 10, 2011

...a reporter asked Dwyane Wade to defend himself against charges that his foul that led to Rajon Rondo’s elbow injury was a dirty play. Sitting next to Wade at a dais, James had his hand over his mouth and muttered, “That’s retarded.” The comment was clearly audible on the press conference feed, as there was a microphone sitting in front of James. (You can watch the video below).

Asked about the mini-controversy after this morning’s shootaround at the Garden, James reiterated that he found the question unintelligent.

“I didn’t understand the question,” James said. “It’s definitely blown out of proportion. I don’t think Dwyane is a dirty player. So it’s the same as me saying, ‘I don’t think that’s a great question’ or, ‘I think it’s a stupid question.’ Dwyane has never been a dirty player so I don’t know why someone would even ask him that question.”

When asked if the public uproar was a result of everything he does being magnified, James responded simply, “Of course.”

Two things going on here: 1) James is not apologizing for calling a question "retarded" (which is definitely a no-no in the US), and 2) Wade is being considered dirty by some people.

I didn't see last night's game, but in game 3, Wade pulled Rondo down to the ground three times. Each time, Wade himself was falling and reached out to grab Rondo (supposedly, I guess, to prevent Wade's own fall). When he pulled Rondo down the third time, Rondo forearm and hand were dislocated from his upper arm. Wade was pulling Rondo on purpose and not just to soften Wade's own fall. He was trying to prevent Rondo from moving or trying to irritate Rondo. In my book, that's dirty and there should have been three fouls called.

As for James' "retarded" comments, well, it shows a lack of class to say it and even less class to apologize. But I don't think it's a big deal.
 
Congratulations to the Miami HEAT for booking a place on the Eastern Conference Finals and await the winner of the Atlanta and Chicago series. If the Atlanta Hawks do manage to force a game 7 series and win, HEAT fans can breathe easy. But if the Bulls win tonight, the HEAT does find itself on a psychological disadvantage against the Bulls as the HEAT went 0-3 against Chicago on the regular season.

But the playoffs do bring a different scene and regular season match-ups are rendered wrong with the HEAT known to defy the odds despite paced by regular season match-ups where Miami won against the Boston Celtics 4-1 despite going 1-3 against the Celtics on the regular season.

Expect the HEAT to lean on the superb performances of James, Wade and Bosh.

Will the difference be Chicago's big men (Noah, Boozer versus Z, Joel Anthony)? Rose will probably guard Wade. Will Deng guard LeBron?

This could be a fun series. Before the play-offs started, I would have predicted that Chicago would win. But Miami is playing lights-out right now. Unfortunately, they only go three deep.
 
Bosh could be Miami's key in possible serie against Bulls.He's playing against lazy-ass Boozer.He didn't have many chance to dominate against KG but against Boozer he can be 20+10 .

I agree the Heat were completely destroyed on the boards in Game 1.

Look at the video above, in the 2nd dunk Gibson was dunking on his own teammate, which shows you how pathetic the Heat were at boxing out.
 
Udonis Haslem had 13 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and a block on last night's 85-75 win against the Bulls.

This is what the HEAT needs off the bench to complement their three trio's productivity.

Yeah Sino bro, but you have to remember that Gibson is a 6'9 forward dunking over Wade who's a 6'4 guard... I do admit though that Wade has never been posturized like this ever before in his NBA career as he's usually the one dunking and posturizing others :D

Coach Spoelstra has finally succumbed to playing Haslem more minutes and this will be a huge difference maker for the Heat and that is why imo the Heat will win this series...With Haslem, Miami has 4 legitimate guys on their team.

People also sometimes forget to note that Haslem was the main go-to-guy after Wade on this Heat's team for many years...

I would like to add also that people also forgot that the HEAT played the majority of the season without Haslem and Miller due to injuries. Haslem brought energy, hustle and almost everything for the HEAT tonight. While Miller had 7 rebounds tonight, mostly defensive rebounds that allowed the HEAT for second chance possessions. Hopefully, Miller and Haslem can inspire the other HEAT bench to provide the intangibles.

I couldn't agree more with what you wrote above :)

This HEAT team if all their players are healthy has some players that they can rely on of the bench that can provide that required spark when necessary.

I do believe that names like Magloire, J Jones, Miller and even Chalmers can give some good minutes of the bench alongside Haslem if given the chance...

It seems coach Spoeltra is also experimenting with his different lineups as Dampier and Ilgauskas were not even mentioned as part of the 12 man roster...

The Miami HEAT have emerged as the 2011 Eastern Conference Champions and will face the Dallas Mavericks on the 2011 NBA Finals. A not so rematch of the 2006 Finals where major changes have been made with both rosters. From the HEAT, gone are Shaquille O'Neal, Jason Williams, James Posey, Antoine Walker, Gary Payton, Shandon Anderson, Michael Doleac, Alonzo Mourning, Derek Anderson, Wayne Simien and Jason Kapono.

Only Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem remain from the 2006 Championship roster. For a strange twist of fate, Erick Dampier is riding the bench for the HEAT this time around. LeBron James and Chris Bosh were bought in last summer for the franchise to reclaim championship glory. The Mavericks too had sweeping changes where only Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry remain from the 2006 Dallas Mavericks.

Expect the HEAT to be very physical against Dirk Nowitzki and make him work defensively. Wade is 1-0 on the Finals. James is 0-1 on the finals. This is the first finals appearance for Bosh. Any less than a championship for the HEAT is a failure.
