Maccabi Electra Tel-Aviv - 2012/2013

For the haters but also for real Maccabi fans:

http://www.eurocupbasketball.com/eu...7&pcode=002833&gamenumber=17&seasoncode=U2012

This guy has just became the Eurocup final MVP, won the Eurocup and will play in the EL next season again. Scariolo had no clue how to use him and he is out. Blatt and Pashutin did a better job and they came far.

Now Ohayon can think again about Lokomotiv Kuban. He has signed a big contract there in the summer. He could have got the money, the Eurocup and a ticket to the EL next year :-) But Maccabi bosses deprived him that. So, he has to strive for a Euroleague crown now someday, as Maccabi won't land in the Eurocup :-)

Aren't there also just some college stars who don't really take to pro basketball? It's pretty telling that he's basically returned to his old college environment. Reminds me a bit of Gerry McNamara's brief pro career.

Well, he has played very well in the D-League, for example. I don't see how his game could not translate to the pros. It must be his injury and his own expectations for himself that he couldn't meet.

The comparison with McNamara is not far fetched but Scheyer is way taller for his position.

pullen and hairston, mta should think about them

Pullen can go somewhere else. If Smith will be signed, no Hairston is needed.
The newest rumour however is that Maccabi is interested in Josh Duncan of Hapoel Jerusalem.
Maccabi will meet Hapoel in a best-of-five series in the semis. The series will start next Monday.

This season so far:

Hapoel - Maccabi 71-79, Duncan 17 pts, 4 reb.
Maccabi - Hapoel 82-84, Duncan 20 pts, 9 reb.

He is playing his third season in Israel. Always scoring well from anywhere on the floor, he is playing some spectacular playoffs until now.

Pullen was very mediocre with Hapoel Jerusalem this season.
Hairston is weaker than Smith, putting up worse stats on a worse (but much more expensive) team. We've had this discussion before, no need to repeat it. If Hairston would be playing for MTA and Smith somewhere else, you opinion would be completely opposite.

Mickeal is really a top SF, offensively and defensively.
But Hairston being a tough opponent? Hairston is a solid player, yet imho not a player to go after for Maccabi.

BTW, numbers speak for themselves. This season, Olympiacos has played twice against Milano and twice against Maccabi.

Papanikolaou vs. Milano: 27:20 mpg, 14.5 ppg (3/5 FG, 7/9 3PT), 4 rpg, 17 EFF.
Hairston vs. Olympiacos: 30:30 mpg 11 ppg (7/17 FG, 2/3 3PT), 2.5 rpg, 5.5 EFF.

Papanikolaou vs. Maccabi: 25:50 mpg, 5.5 ppg (3/4 FG, 0/3 3PT), 4.5 rpg, 8.5 EFF
Smith vs. Olympiacos: 34:20 mpg, 15 ppg (6/13 FG, 5/7 3PT), 4.5 rpg, 18.5 EFF

Numbers speak a pretty clear question. To sum it up, if Maccabi can keep Smith for a decent price, they won't squander any single thought about Hairston.

Besides, the last thing Maccabi will be doing is looking for a player at SF. They will go after a PG and an SG or a combo-guard, they will go after a PF and after a C. But not after a new SF, should Smith and Pnini stay on board.

i ve seen duncan in match 1 vs hapoel. mammia. dramatic! is this our first add?? ok, we can think about euroleague 2015

I haven't heard that Duncan is already signed. Should I call a doctor for you? Or are you going to survive your panic attac without the specialist's help?

Saw a rumour that Maccabi are looking at Pat Calathes too.

Pat Calathes is playing a very fine year but I doubt Maccabi will be looking for him. After all, Caner-Medley is not a bad player but Maccabi is looking for an upgrade there not sth. similar.

calathes. good plahyer, not top euroleague level stuff anyway.so, everything depend on our goal next year. to get top 16 calathes is ok. if u wanna have chances for f4 calathes is not the right man in that position. probably he could be a 12-15 min players close to a real great g
