Japan and BASKETBALL!!?????

ahh.. i wonder if team pilipinas and Yao-less-china,or japan play in a pro rules..not fiba rules..
for sure philippines has an edge but height will still play an important role against team philippines..
what if our players are as tall as european players..
its a bonus for other nations that philippines doesnt have any basketball program,or if there is,not good.
another is philippine youth are late bloomers.
because they prioritize education up until they finish college with a degree..
and no basketball at all when it's weekdays,no training at all..
but i admire other asian countries, like japan and china, behind their mongoloid behavior, they can still play basketball..

Look Mr. FeiFei, many of us Filipino forumers are trying to avoid being pre-judgemental and you are making it worst. Traditional Asian powerhouses are difficult to judge which one is better than the other because they may improve or not in their next games. We don't know if Jordan can still beat the Philippines in their next match-up. The reason why we lost to Jordan is that three of our players were weakened during the opening match against Iran and our team was only formed like 5 months ago compared to Jordan who were playing together for a year or almost now. Don't go judging our capabilities by simply looking at the results in previous champs because you don't know how huge we can improve.
Do you konw waht is my judgement?
Ok I repeat :"I can't really judge Whether Japan is better or not." same as gogobet.
You say "Don't go judging our capabilities by simply looking at the results "
Now I have a question :
How can you get judgement of Japan's capabilities?
How can you know Japan is not far behind RP?
Yes I don't know how huge You can improve,But do you konw how huge Japan and other asia NT can improve?

Like I said... they're pretty even... but during the 2007 Asian Champ... IMO... I don't think Japan can beat the Philippines..

About China B... they beat the Philippines in the Manila tourney but the Philippines beat China B, twice, in the Asian Championship.... Although, this is the China B Team (preparing for the Asian Championship) who beat Yao Ming-less China A Team (preparing for the Stankovic Cup???) on a warm-up series.... Such record doesn't matter because there is no way the Philippines will beat China with Yao and Yi on it....

For me... I can't really say who's better or not... I haven't seen the two national teams played against each other in an official game... the last one was in 2002 Asian Games...

Now your opinion is becoming like me!
A bout China B,yes they beat the Philippines in the Manila tourney but the Philippines beat China B, twice, in the Asian Championship.
So I said :China B beat RP in warm up compete any useful?

Japan played with Yao-less-china in 2006 In DUHA but in the fiba rules.

It is ironic that Japan made the best anime about basketabll, Slam Dunk. lol
In china Slam Dunk is very popular most of the boy enjoy it in 90's.
But it seem that in Japan is not Slam Dunk is not very popular .

Japan is not far from any asian countries except china. there are still a lot of great basketball talents there and they can still beat other asian countries. But basketball in japan is not as popular like in the philippines and lebanon, baseball and football is there favorite sports along with sumo wrestling :p

I agree... China B Team beat the Philippines in a game that it doesn't count... same thing as when the Philippines beat Iran and Lebanon in games that it doesn't count as well... One of the things the Philippines has to work out

Yes I think you are right!:)
But in in recent years Japan play better than Philippines ,do you think so?
Like asie championship 2007.

I think Philippines was behind Japan by that time because RP got suspended by FIBA.

why is the name Philippines mentioned here? and why RP can beat Japan is the circulating topic here. come on my pinoy brothers why do we have to be *ssh*les in this thread which we are not supposed to be in?

Guys, why do you think Japan is not doing well in basketball while they are doing great in soccer and baseball???

I really think Japanese should be good at basketball since they can have many naturalized players(since they are more opned to foreigners), and money to train thier players.

I have no idea why Japan is so far behind Korea, Philiphines, China, and the rest of Asian teams..

WHAT DO YA ALL THINK?

No!! Japan is still Asia's team to beat like China, Iran, Korea and RP. But it's least popular sport in this country. Actually its not power in soccer and baseball of the world but only in Asia and very popular.

I just say what I think is right.
I don't agree that Japan is so far behind Philiphines , so I say no,I don't agree!
My opinion is like gogobet can't really judge Whether Japan is better or not as RP.
Yes ! Japan were not part of the group of death,
but do you see Japan's result in 2007 asia Championship ?
thay bt Lebanon 77:67
bt Jordan 71:68
How can you say Japan is so far behind Philiphines ?
And I KNOW japan have C 210CM in Japan NT.
Fumihiko AONO 210cm 6'11"

Hmnnn..let see how both teams would fair against each other..

I have to inform you that the B team you talked about is not toatlly the same team playing in the Asian Championship. After that series, china NT's coach Jonas discovered the good players in the B team, and chose 3 or 4 key players from B team. This means the best several palyers in the former B team are selected to the A team, and none of members in former A team are returned. So the B team's coach Adijiang compained a lot about that decision.

cause all your pinoy bros felt the need to prove they are worth something and aren't trash in the asia rankings. its not just this thread but like every thread in the asia subforum.

And the team A is totally not team A.
Just the coach Jonas pick serval new and young players for team A(not really for team A but for futural team A), and play them in the these game in main time to see if they has chance to stay, so the old team A players have not or rarely played.

Agree... Yao Ming-less team is not the A Team at all... I hope he recover for the Olympics!

Japan bb

Japan bb

Japan plays hard and scrappy. The Filipinos resort to being flashy and showtime experts.

But in Japan, basketball is a very minor sport. In the Philippines, basketball is a religion!!
