Euroleague Top 16 : Game 1

Seems there is a problem with Ataman's training system..

Last year and this year. Tons of injuries. I don't know the details, but there must definitely an explanation for this, medical view i mean.

jawai

gordon

dudley

aldemir

hairston

WTF?

If Ataman could have worked with his whole team for the whole season imagine how good they could have been with that roster. Even if he had a normal amount of injuries.

I said it quite a lot of times. Last time I said it PAO was down 1-2 in the series against Maccabi, after leading 1-0. It was 1-1 in OAKA and they lost the third game in Tel Aviv. Pao won the forth game in Tel Aviv, and the fifth in Athens. Last year Olympiakos-Efes was also an example, where neither teams were able to win three times in a row. But these cases were series between two teams.

Off course it is hard for a great team to lose three times in a row, just by logic. But it doesn't give any guarantee whatsoever as to what will happen in the next game so eventually it's useless. Remember Olympiacos losing three in a row against Siena?

well if eont consider last 10 years history, milano is clearley a better team than pana. mainy with hackett. pana is actually an av team that cutted budget and his lobnely great player is not the same as he was before. so u should see at rosters not at team's history.langford gentile hackett are three payers who can play final for as starting five everywhere

Without a real center, Milano cannot make anything. I won't be surprised if they are beaten twice by Efes tho.

They have a fantastic, watchable, amazing first 5. But that's all.

Imagine they had the same talls with last year; Fotsis, Bourousis, Hendrix instead of Cj Wallace, Samuels.

To me Milano - Pao seemed one of the more predictable games in this round 2nd only to Real winning in Belgrade and due to obvious reasons Efes losing in Barcelona, when also counting in Jamont didn't play. Based not on history, but 3 Pao games and no more than 10 minutes of Milano watched this season (came to a conclusion watching Milano-Efes brings bad luck, as everytime I see that duel, I get tired of basketball for another month or so).
Player rosters is one thing, the way they work on court a whole other. I feel sorry for Milano, since the days of old Stefanel days it's a team I respect a lot, but honestly, apart from a relatively easy group (game-wise, not roster-wise) in first stage unlike Pao's that should by experience proove to be arguably the toughest overall (even if they won't likely contribute a champion out of it).

Overall Milano has 2 great but nevertheless relatively limited players as Langford and Jerrels as their top guys, young Melli and Gentile, which will have to put a lot more effort in defense to catch on the quality that majority is attributing him due to his offensive performances, good all-rounder in Moss and Hacket ... and that's about it. I've got to add, I like this Milano team better than the previous stacked overpaid editions with no sense whatsoever.
While Pao also has more reknown names and significantly deeper bench, they even if not performing at best, are playing as a team with a prooven system of Obradović's legacy. Having an elite, veteran PG is also a 50% of the work in recent editions of euroleague it seems...

Even with such good PF - C would not do anything good.
I mean euroleague its not about talent but about team chemistry.something that is missing way too much from milano.even if they have hugely talently backcourt their game lacks so much.tonight they lost the battle of rebounds and were no factors inside.but their real problem is there one way offencive game.eventually if they dont fix it and make it more oriental or work harder to find the better chance for scoring instead of giving the ball for example to langford or jerrels to take a crazy effort they dont stand a chance.
By the way bourousis and hentrix were no factor too last year...coincidence?

i forgot moss who i love as one of best 10el players. mammamia langford gentile hacket moss. yes with a good c...what a team

u are right, but honestly, do u really think prediction were made considering rosters or recent team's hstory?

I think you are just attention seeking, same thing with Maccabi. While (almost?) everybody put them in top 8 you said that they won't reach it. While it would be super surprise if they did not. You just want to draw attention hence your "strange" predictions.

And LOL at Milano being better for the last 10 years, its so ridiculous that it does not warrant any response. One was top8/4 level most of the years and another only top16/24 level team. But yeah, its exactly opposite in your Truman show world :)

Ataman:

"We performed well as a team tonight, but sometimes you have to have luck to win. I'm not talking about the shots that were in or out. Malik [Hairston] got injured at the first half and didn't play in the second. He's one of our best defenders and of course it affected us. When Sinan Guler missed the open layup and made his fourth foul, it killed our rhythm. We defended the paint well against Maccabi, but didn't play good perimeter defense. Especially Ricky Hickman played one on ones on Ender Arsland and he managed these offences well. With Ohayon, they reached 90 points. A team that shoots 30% percent from the arc, shot 50% tonight. This is the Top 16. It'll be tough. If we had full roster, including Furkan Aldemir, we'd beat Maccabi. "

nice whining by the couch. big like to Ataman.

That Olympiakos wasn't a great team. As Ivkovic said, it was the worst team he ever coached. And no, this losing streaks don't mean anything. Especially not in this phase. Both teams will fight for the win tomorrow. Obradovic would want to beat Olympiakos for sure.

Efes lost their tradition in last years. Our goverment's have some effect for this too. (Efes Pilsen to Efes and other things...) Efes forgot their young players. I remember 90s Efes played 7-8 turkish players and 2-3 foreigner. But today 7 thrash foreign players in roster :(

They must return to their tradition. One of the strongest defence on euroleague with turkish YOUNG players.

i think today, is the day will say something more about the greatest mistery of the year: cska.
i have to say i was sure they were still in f4 till august because of pargo impact. pargo was zero, but i know how strong he is.
questions are: can cska get f4 without pargo? mmhh..
will pargo play next matches like before?
is messina guilty of pargo's season? i think it could be
why fridzon is playing so short minutes?
well today vs kuban i think we could have many answers. if they will loose there, we could consider cska not already in f4.
plus , why frd
