well,i have watch Pini in MTA and Oly.
Also my team (ARIS) during all these years had/have 3 coaches which was his former assistants (Barton,Blatt,Drucker).
Lets exclude Blatt as he has upgraded and he has his own way in european basketball.
With Barton we play a very happy:D:D game all the season.Run and gun with fastbreaks dunks etc (especially first year with Smus Parker and Toby Bailey) but 2 years in row in p/o ARIS eliminated.When the game became tough and critical in set matches where team wasnt able to run we just lost.
Same almost happen now with Drucker...when ARIS can run is show time...if we go to 5 on 5 we have big problems.
I can say that Pinis way of the game needs big superstars to support it in order to win titles (remember the difference of MTA of 05 and the same team of 06???Just Willy instead of Saras...MTA lost)
 
fail is not when you lose in ff against equal team. it is, but nothing terible. fail is when you don't make it to top 8 and ff. and there is no garente that gershon would do it better (maybe with blatt help he would).

You don't need to tell me about Barton. He used to coach the Skyliners in Frankfurt. Horrible basketball.

Gershon maximizes his players strength. His 2001 championship team was totally defensive-minded. In 2005-06, instead of an offensive-gaudy Jasikevicius, he got a defense-excelling guard in Solomon.

Blatt is much more a gentleman. He is not as arrogant as Gershon towards his players and already in the upper echelone of European coaches.

I admit, I don't follow Aris under Drucker. But sometimes teams are built to fight. Last season'S Eurochallenge winner oettingen had its only chance it pressing for 40 minutes and running hard. They excelled in doing it but had problems with teams like Bamberg, who were talland physicalenough to get the rebounds and maintain the ball.

Big difference. One game. Solomonwas a totally different player than Saras but he busted his assoff in the Final Four, eatingPrigioni alive and being MTA's best player in the final. Parker had a mediocre final and Vujcic simply failed.

Pini has won in 2001 with no superstars. Remember?

Pao to loan bogris to aris? Lafayette is not 100% cuz it has been agreed but not put to paper. There might be someone else today..:confused::mad:

This is taking far too long for one transfer..but thats the problem you're having when instead of keeping the money for transfers you try to repay the old debts of the previous president..at least aris could be free of debts at the end of this season.

Huffman and McDonald were this team's superstars.

Gershon should thank Uleb, The economic world crisis, David Blatt, and the help of god, for building his career as a successful basketball coach and a very rich man.
 
My friend Seahawk,I quite disagree with you about Aris offensive game this year,in fact you are right that in some games the team has no offensive orientation at all and the players look like don't know what to do with the ball,but in some other games we've seen very nice team game,and especially I've seen very nice plays with cooperation of the inside players,especially when Boro is in who is a very smart guy who know how to get the best position.And this is something that I hadn't seen in our team for many,many years,I remember myself being jelous of the cooperation of the Panelinios big men,especially when Golemac played for them.So I mean that so far the team to me shows 2 completely opposite faces,like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde,but it has shown "something",unlike Herbert's and Mazzon's team.Remember the games against Peristeri for the Greek Cup,the first match against Lukoil and against Paok.

My friend Telis :D comparing to mazzon,herbert and last years disaster of course there is an improvment.
Still we miss a lot though when issue applies to games where set basketball is required....
