The decision will reportedly be announced at 17.30 today.
Hopefully France gets it, or any country that would host it on their own. Anything else would be a dissapointment in my book.

Agreed. France would be cool. Basketball 2015, football 2016 :)

According to Croatian websites its Croatia, Latvia, Germany, France joint bid.

Tournament starts in Montpellier and ends in Lille.

Lille is a nice town :)

Any clue which towns will host the groups? Interested in the German one mostly :)

Berlin, Zagreb, Montpellier and Riga for the Group Stages.

I think this split into 4 is a decision from hell.....

This is a weird decision from my perspective. Does this mean that 4 teams will play games home in the group phase? Too bad Finland was not one of the countries in the joint bid I would like to see them continue to improve :(

LMAO that is a comical decision. So we will have a home team for every group? I just hope they don't put teams in by region. I really don't want Slovenia to be in a group with Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia and BiH :D

And Isreal don't forget Israel, that's a regional country also :D (our other two regional countries Hungary and Bulgaria didn't qualify xD)

Also, Montenegro didn't qualify :D

They just might do that :) imagine the comparison of attendance between Slovenia, BiH and Serbia playing in Zagreb or in Riga. Not at all saying that's a good idea, but won't be surprised if someone @Fiba considers it a brilliant one either...

You are absolutely right.

They need to "blatter" (verb, derived from soccer, meaning "to fix something if its not broken") something anyways is my very strong guess.
For example, Germany only barely qualified as one of the 6 2nd places, meaning the last of the last in Europe. That would mean they would have been in the last lottery pot and be put as the lowest placed team in any of the groups. As it is clear they do not want to see the host lose at least 4 of their 5 games, I think somehow a miracle will be blattered upon them and Fiba will make it happen for Germany to move up the ladder and there will be "easier" teams in that group in Berlin.

Plus its a very bad thing for all the fans. It will be almost impossible to have enough money to follow your team :-(

It is not much different than it is now, you want to support your team in group phase - go to this city, if you think your team will advance - go to this other city, as it is now, some people went to watch their teams only in group phase, others only for the playoff phase. The only difference is if you want to follow the team through all tournament, as Croatia/Latvia have different pricing than Germany/France.

There is also a difference in flying from your country to Hostcountry A and further to France and back home. Its one flight more. And 3 single non return flights are very costly. Also you have to be flying and not like it was in 2011, 2013, 2009 and so on just catch a train or bus for a few Euros. You also didnt have to book and pay the bus upfront. What if your country doesnt qualify? Then you have a flight and surely dont get back any money at all. Croatia, Berlin and especially Riga are not in bus, train or car distance from Lille in 24hours. Compared with all of the former ECs it will be extremely expensive and need a lot of logistics. Plus all the fan spirit will be gone too.

Like I said the biggest difference is if you want to follow your team through the whole thing. Yes it is crazy tough if you want to do that. My friend who was in Spain only for group phase games is already saving up money for the whole thing up to Lille. It would probably be cheaper to get 2 return flights than 3 single non return. Berlin is less than 24h away from Lille with bus/train though no direct and France trains = tgv. France as the ko phase country is not a good decision IMHO, I would rather it be in Germany as it's hard to find a normal train (transportation) in France, it is practically all TGV which is expensive as airplane (sometimes airplane tickets are cheaper). And even if you are in France you will have to travel all the way from south of France to the north to follow your team into the KO phase (this also applies to Frenchies). I understand that France was selected as someone who has the biggest chance to play the finals, full arena, marketing, blah blah.
But they proved once again that they are total and complete retards (with all due respect to retarded people which I didn't want to insult with this sentence).
There are no direct flights between Lille and Riga/Zagreb and all flights have 2 connections or more. Wow. Much brilliance. So genius. Four countries hosting from which 2 are about 1000+ km away from the other two and selecting France for the final stage with messed up trains in a city with almost no airplane connections, it's like they are trying to outdo themselves. I say next eurobasket should be hosted by Island, Malta, Lichtenstein and Estonia for group stage and final stage in Turkey, but not in Instanbul, no, let them expend the 1000 seats arena in Batman (Batman is like 100km from Iraq) and no normal connections to get there.

Europe is small, I am sure the real supporters will follow their teams anywhere in the world. Euro Trip :D

You must be a very rich person if everything seems so easy to you. Use the ONE rest day wisely and plan well ahead! Good luck!

Yeah you're gonna be, damn that Milosh was right, when you pay 140 euros for an 5 hour trip in economy class from Montpellier to Lille :D
I will laugh my ass off if Macedonia gets the group in Montpellier :D

hehehehe hopefully they will and I will pay 140, but there is one problem....my wife needs to let me go :D

@Levenspiel,

Why you delete the kid? Its just a kid..... you haven't watched the movie I guess

Haha, well you know how you go about that, ask to go for double the period you want to go, if you want to go for both weeks say "I want to go and follow the team for the whole month, from the preparation period until the end of the championship", so she would let you go for ONLY 2 weeks :D

EDIT: Oh and you have to look sad when she tells you only 2 weeks. You can't let her see you won, she has to have a feeling that you didn't come up on top in this one :D
