I peronally don't find this team intimidating at all. No way can anyone consider them greater favourites of Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia,... Of the strong European teams they are the worst side by side with Russia. They have Parker and Diaw and a great fighter Turiaf, and that is it. But team chemistry goes a long way and they have it so anything is possible.
I don't agree..
this team has two great players with enough NBA but also with FIBA experience.. they've been around for some time..
Diawara and Turiaf are looking better then last year..
they also have Kirksay who could finally solve their shooting voes..
they certainly aren't the deepest team around but after watching them I would say that they are mature enough to be called as one of the favorites alongside Spain, Greece and Liths..

Kirksay (my avatar for those who don't know him) is everything (and I mean EVERYTHING. He often make more assists than the guard and takes more rebounds than the center and sometimes both in the same game) but a shooter. He has the same profile as Diaw. Except that if he isn't in a good day offensively, he'll still take 10+ shoots at 25%. (but that's because he was the captain and the star of the team. It will be interesting to see how he does in a team where he is only a minor player)
He has a sensational vision of the game, which make him a very versatile player, but his shooting skills (except for his trademark tear drop shoot) are not exceptionnal (he averaged 30% at 3 pointers the last 3 years)

The only shooter of the team is Ferchaud and I don't rate him highly. I don't trust Diawara and Parker that much. I don't think we'll do better than usual on that aspect of the game.

But yeah, for months we heard (at least in France) that we would field one of the strongest french team ever and we end up with Jeanneau, Sangare, Ferchaud or Badiane who are doing good in the french league, but have quite a long way to go before they reach the very high level. And I expect Diawara to be at least as awful as Mickael Pietrus in the last world championship and I don't know if Parker knows to play against a zone, so I am not very optimistic.

Who will be play in Polish NT

z1818788Z.jpg

Polish NT will play with China, and Serbia, and then coach Urlep will know who will go with NT to Spain.

Guards: Łukasz Koszarek, Robert Skibniewski, Krzysztof Szubarga, Paweł Kikowski, Andrzej Pluta, Iwo Kitzinger,
Forwards: Barłomiej Wołoszyn, Przemysław Frasunkiewicz, Kamil Pietras, Filip Dylewicz, Radosław Hyży, Robert Witka,
Centers: Adam Wójcik i Szymon Szewczyk.

After tournament in Turkey 2 players will leave this roster and stay in Poland.

Seems like Rasic and Ilic will be cut by Serbia. That mean we will have only one center with Milicic.

i think it's time to start and gother the final rosters.
in case you have a final (no "one more still to cut", no "garbo is still uncertain", no "barac was released but one more will be gone") - please post the final roster of the team.

Serbian Roster

Darko Milicic
Dragan Labovic
Novica Velickovic
Zoran Erceg
Nemanja Aleksandrov
Branko Cvetkovic
Milan Gurovic
Milenko Tepic
Stefan Markovic
Vuk Radivojevic
Milos Teodosic
Marko Jaric

The age average seems too high... :D :p

Seriously, who is gonna start for Serbia?

I think Aleksandrov will start. Erceg will come off the bench. Jaric,Tepic,Gurovic,Aleksandrov and Milicic.

Julian Sensley was cut today as last player from Germany's roster. So this will be the final roster:

PG: S.Hamann, P.Roller, M.Demirel
SG: D. Greene, J. Herber
SF: A.Okulaja, R. Garrett
PF: D. Nowitzki, S.Schultze, G.Grünheid
C: P. Femerling, J.Jagla

that must be worst Serbian NT in recent history....

They are not worser than last year team. And we obviously building for the future. Couple of these players will play for many years to come. Slovenian team is not much better either. This team can suprize if Milicic,Gurovic and Jaric dont have mental break down in Spain:D . If we somehow qualify for Olympics we will be very dangerous. With Krstic,Stojakovic and others.

It's better than the last years one for sure. And it is very promising because you have 4 87 guys that have won everything that could have been won and a 88 guy that is the captain of the junior world champions. Plus two starting players of the former European and World champions in their prime. Add the second pick on the draft and a player that is probably the new player for Barcelona and you see that the squad is probably the youngest of the tournament (23 years is the average age) but still full of pedigre and will be a tough nut to crack.

Judging by preparation games we play better basketball than last year. There is more creativity and movement in offense. We have serious problem in rebounding department. If we correrct that it can be interesting tournament for us. Macvan wont play in Spain. But I excpect him to make squad next year. And Jeremic as well. Big plus is absence of Rakocevic. Guy is a choke artist. He had two big event to prove him self as leader. And he blow it.
If we qulify . This could be our team for China.
1.Teodosic
2.Jaric
3.Tepic
4.Pavlovic
5.Jeremic
6.Gurovic
7.Stojakovic
8.Krstic
9. Milicic
10.Aleksandrov
11.Macvan
12.Erceg
Other candidates(Labovic,Raduljica,Perovic,Keselj,Dragovic,Stimac,Stojacic,Katnic).

Good team exept that I wouldn't call Stojakovic ever again and think that Gurovic said that this is his last nt championship so change those two for Keselj and Dragovic or Jorovic if he recovers fully. Also I think that Macvan will be a HUGE adition because of his streanght since my greatest consirn with this team is the lack of from Erceg and Aleksandrov. They are too soft in the defensive department and that will put pressure on us in the paint. Jeremic or even Stojacic will add much needed fire power from the sg spot which we lack at the moment. And of course Krstic to help out Milicic. With this team we are sure medal winners in the next 5-8 years (in a couple of years just instead of Jaric put Katnic and if Marjanovic progressess as much as I expect him he could find his way in the roster). O and Markovic is a great talent and no matter what anyone says I think he will be a force as well.

I wouldn't give up on Stojakovic. He is in his prime years. And he always played good for national team. He would be great weapon for us. We need shoters. Also I dont think Gurovic would miss Olympic games. But it would be nice if he retire after Spain. Marjanovic have alot of work in front of him. I think Raduljica will be better option. He will play next season. Dragovic should be in squad this year.

Worst Serbian NT? Are you kidding...

This team is so intriguing...8 guys born in 1985 and younger... come on..

This will ne very interesting and they will suprise alot of people. I love the confidence of Slavnic in the young guys by cutting Ilic and Rasic.

He hasn't played for the nt for 5 years now and I think that whatever he says he has no intentions of coming back. Now that he has started a family even more so. Marjanovic has alot to work but he has started training very late and has shown emence progress in a very small amount of time and I think he has all the physical tools to be great and have also heard that he is a very nice and smart kid. On the other hand Raduljica has probably the perfect body and could be extremly dangerous but I question his basketball IQ and determination and have heard bad stories about his work ethic. But if he works he could be a beast.
