Nobody can beat Paris. WTF?

They have one of the worst roster ever.

Maybe Euroleague clubs should finally start to question themselves. They are all doing the same shit, as all the helicopter coaches want to control everything. Special greetings to Messina. Paris Basket is refreshing to watch, finally some club with a different approach in what type of basketball can be successful, even without the opportunity to practice much. All other teams put their main focus on game-preparation and tactics. This one-game-after-another-approach leads to chess matches and whoever has the better gameplan and/or more individual quality is successful. How innovative. I am so not entertained. Paris Basket should be seen as reality check and fortunately the heliocentric, running up and down approach works. They are better, because they have the superior system and a crystal-clear hierarchy. Hopefully other Clubs follow their success story closely and start to question themselves after years of terrible basketball in Euroleague.

But they are not mutually exclusive. I see plenty of these talking points where the main takeaway is "Up and down, run and gun basketball has no rules or tactics. Contrast to "masterclass" basketball that is smothered by rules upon rules".

That is not the truth though. "Free" basketball has many rules that need to be followed in order to maximize the potential of the system (because it is a system of play).

It can range from simple things that need mental discipline like "We execute either in the first or last 8 seconds and not in between" to slightly more complex things like the geometry of the players on the floor in order to maximize space and optimize pass angles. When you got 5 bodies moving, this is not as easy as it sounds but of course with practice it can become automatic. It's not just "grab the ball and do what you want", although there is an element of freedom for the player to make a decision from a set of options.

Mijatovic continuously gives statements about small details and mistakes which caused defeats
Guy doesn't have a clue about basketball, small details is that he doesn't have a system, Efes system is who grabs the ball 1st then he owns that ball no matter what, they need at least 5 balls, one for every player on the court.

I don't think Paris plays chaotic basketball(changed my mind), I am with Paspalj, very very good post btw. Though it's true that roster is meh, EC level

in my opinion, Mijatovic is a fresh cook who knows or reads out the right ingredients, but mixes up the order of adding them and misjudges the timing.

I'm saying this after the fact, I'm not smart enough to find solutions myself, but I can observe what was going on. He relies on Willis for example when he should go with Smits, or keeps Bryant too long in a wrong five, decides to slow the game down, and then gives up and let them run, then throws in completely irrelevant pieces like Hollatz just to see if something may come out of it. He's trying to learn on the fly. I think we need to bring an established coach [Sarica? :D], or even Spanoulis if he's available, and give Mijatovic his previous role back.

Spanoulis could be good idea, at least that wouldn't be his 1st coaching job:) But as I heard he is going in other direction, Monaco probably.

Sarica is limited coach imo, good for average teams but not for higher goals, worth of trying maybe but in Jan or feb it will be late probably

About using Willis, he shouldn't have stayed in first place, when you have pair of upper class forwards in Smith and Osmani. That money should have been used for better backup of guard positions in cace of injuries.

There is Johnson problem and usage too, Nwora, Thompson. Many many problems, but one Real's bad night gave totaly opposite picture of Efes true power

The lack of respect Nunn gets is mind blowing. If refs call fouls on him like they do on Vezenkov, Musa, Campazzo, Baldwin...he would average 25 points per game.

This team just can't get def.rebound if their lives depend on it. Every game we have at least 10 offensive rebounds less than the opponent.

Omg Papapetrou is driving me crazy. That's why we needed Osman today.

Btw guys, you have to see the way how Spain tied in the 1st overtime against Slovakia. You need to see last 7 seconds. Definitely one of the craziest 7 seconds I have ever seen in the basketball. Slovakia choked everything.

Zerelis has to be the worst coach in the Euroleague. From all the main and assistant coaches he is the worst. No wonder he only coached bloody Lavrio in his entire career. I will never forget last season against Maccabi, Ataman ejected, +2 for us, 2nd free throw for Sorkin I think, no timeouts for Maccabi, 5 seconds before the end, whole world knows Maccabi will miss on purpose and he matches Nebo with Mitoglou while Antetokoumpo is on the bench!

Today Papapetrou and Juancho were doing cardio but he keeps them whole game on the floor. Papapetrou PIR -2 for 20 minutes. Nunn becomes so hot in the 3rd quarter and he puts him on the bench because of 3 fouls and he had 3 fouls since first 5 minutes. Ofc Zalgiris made a run during this time and goodbye. Sloukas looks like he is 70 years old. Pathetic performance.

Also, if your head coach goes to coach another team, then it means that another team is a priority. So, don't expect much in this case.

It's tough to be angry on Ataman after everything what he did last year. I don't understand why did they allow Osman to leave though. The only good player from the EL that didn't play for the club but played for the NT. That's absurd.

Congrats to Zalgiris but the refs were massive cocksuckers tonight. They gave 5-6 bullshit calls to Zal piggy -backing them to victory.

PS Lonnie Walker is a TOP 1st class player.

Team was bad once more. Nothing changed, just that the opponent was better than previous times. I don't understand the low energy we have at the beginning of all games. It's a given by now that we'll start from behind (and that we'll give up 100 O boards). It becomes frustrating to witness.

I know coach Serelis and I know that he is very good in game preparation but he is not capable of being a head coach unfortunately. But I'm glad he's an assistant for us. Walker seemed like a man playing with kids today and Nunn continued his streak of constant complaining.

Last year's championship has shut me up so I can't comment grand negative things :p I'm just hopeful.

Yeah Walker and Obst made the day, the latter made history actually. That 3rd quarter was insane. Why is this guy not averaging like 25.3 pts a game??

I don't know in general but today, yeah, his first two fouls were just made up.
