USA for +40. About people who want Angola to win: If you are afraid to play against USA, do one thing: lose on purpose:D:D:D:p:p:p

Yes. I voted for Team USA, who I think will win, but I think everybody would be happy for Angola if they won, even Americans. It would be the great underdog story. Everybody loves the underdog, even when they beat their favorite team. I would be extremely happy for Angola if they win.

Hmmm...sorry Matt, my patriotism won't allow me to go that far. Could you imagine Turks supporting Slovenia against their own countryman because it's a "great underdog story."? Absolutely not. Personally, I like the Angolan NT for all they've accomplished over the past 20 years, but that doesn't mean I want them to defeat men representing my country.

mvblair once again rooting against USA, it's 2008 again! :p

I would be quietly proud of Angola, but more angry that we lost. Go go overdog!!

Matt,

Your Angola great underdog story is kinda unrealistic. I repect your opinion especially when it would bring great joy to you if Angola wins. Sure everybody loves the underdog but when it come to one's country or national team it's different from a club, city/state team, or local team. Regardless of how you feel, I will always support the players who are representing my country win or lose. :D

Unless one has cultural or ethnic roots from a certain country, there's no justifiable reason to cheer against men or women representing this country (I'll give an exception to mvblair. He's one of those rare citizens of the world. :D) Political reasons aside, rooting against your own is ridiculed, mocked, and downright dangerous in every other country not named USA. Even Canadians have more pride then us. It would be sacrilege for any Canadian wishing Team USA victorious over their precious Canuck all-star hockey team this past Winter Olympics.

angola is too limited

angola is too limited

i know angola has dominated the african region for years now. consistently beating african teams with NBA players like nigeria, senegal, cameroon and others. this is mostly due to good coaching and team discipline , but now angola is out of their league. not only because the US is the best team but because angola is not one of the few countries who have had success against the USA. only a hand full of teams can beat the US. angola playing against the US in the past have been blow out city. what makes anybody think any different? the result will be 86-58. i think argentina in the semis have the only chance of beating the US or maybe spain in the final.

Team Angola played against much stronger US team on Beijing olympics and lost by 21 point.
So all those 50-60-70 point US wins from this thread are stupidity at it's best.
I just hope Cipriano will play the game, he is real fun to watch.
Besides, four eightfinal games were played and all pre game favorites won their games.
It's time for the underdog to finally win one.

Right. You are reading a little too much into the 21 point thing from 2008, among a few other things in your post. Angola lost by 50 to Serbia, so it isn't too "stupid" to think the US could do the same, unless they are as uninterested against the Angolans as they were in Beijing.

Well, if US team wasn't interested to beat Tunisia (probably the worst team of the championship) by 50 then I don't see them doing the same against a more quality opponent.

Hey guys, I'm not rooting against the US this time. :D :D :D

I'm just rooting for the underdog. :D

No, seriously, there is not much of a reasonable chance that Angola will win, but if Durantula gets in a car accident and Kevin Love and Chauncy Billups get food poisoning, plus a few other disasters....and if we have to put Jim Boheim and Coach K on the floor...then Angola might win.

That is correct.

Most of the fellows who voted for Angola in this poll were certainly voting with their hearts and not with their heads.

i hope you meant all instead of most. because if there are actually fellows who voted angola with their heads, there are some dumb people out there.
