maybe China would still be the boss, but don't forget that the only way for players to evolve and gain skills is by playing with/against highly skilled teams.
this is why local leagues let importers play ...
getting those locals from abroad is giving the Asian championship a new level and new taste.
Chinese players who played in the NBA would have never reached such levels if it wasn't for the NBA levels .... and those who didn't make it to the NBA yet will gain experience from their fellow chinese who have made it there.
Same thing goes for other countries such as Lebanon, Jordan, Phils, etc.. etc...
Now ... for the sake of fareness ... USA NT's most players are not of US origins ..... there are Lebanese, French, Canadians and English ... don't forget africans ....
European NT's players are mainly not of local origins either .... the wars that has been going on worldwide since WW1, 2 and so on has lead many people to migrate to neighboring or remote countries .... which by time has made generations living and raising up abroad.
So, why the sudden wake up now? is it because for the first time China has good competitors? who have the chance of beating them down?
Now, if I wanted to defend Lebanon, since I have no right to defend other countries. Lebanon has lost players as important as Matt Freije and Daniel faris to other countries ... so, now you want us to forget those whom we lost, and make a big problem for those whom we gained?

Of coz it is not the first time,but Since I watched China's basketball games.the only Asian opponent we really cared before is South Korea(especially between 1997 and 2002) .This time we care about more teams---Iran and Lebanon(maybe Jordan),that's it.

But to be honesty ,the real imporvement of Asia basketball is raised and trainning good player in asia country and compete with european teams,not compete with european teams with import high level players .
If we did not have hemopoietic system ourselfs ,it's not the real imporvement of Asia basketball .
Chinese basketball level has reached so high just because our NT participate with European many times ,from lost 30pts to lost 10pts even win .
I think the country import players like Leb will not make asia country get more participate in the WC ,it just will grab the opportunity from the country raised and trainning players themself .

yea and we were lacking our Center( Daniel Faris) besides Matt Freiji played for less than 20 min and he was there just few hours before the game after flying from the US just as Vroman was not in shape cz he was in the USA and not practicing with the team

man jian lian was blocked several times by husein tawbe and roy samaha in 2005 and doha games 2006...im not saying that these guys are not great players/...but look at it this way...the world is full of great players that have no chance to play in the NBA....china is a huge market...getting players from there into the nba results in $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!......

Marketing does play an important role but u can't say that for Yao Ming. He really is one of the greatest centers. Yi Jian Lian is a descent player however ur probably right when talking about Sun Yue though
